Flawless and an Excellent Addition to any existing Mac!

    • Written by from Cleator Moor

I recently updated my Mac setup at home,

after using a 3.06Ghz dual core with a Samsung B2200 display, thought i'd had a great setup, but after making the change to a 2.07GHz Quad Core with 16GB of RAM i though i'd update my second display too, this display is beautiful, the colour matching to the iMac is fantastic for a start, but i have never witnessed such seamless integration using a second display, the viewing angle is off the hook, and you only notice a change in quality if you're not looking at the screen at all!

I use High end programs such as After Effects and Final Cut Pro endlessly and now i have this amazing quality second display i am sprawling every piece of my programs across both screens as i never loose referencing quality with this display.

also, with thunderbolt connections and daisy chaining possibilities, this is a future-proof piece of kit!

10 million stars, quite the financial pinch, but well worth it!

I felt kind of guilty spending so much on this monitor, but now that I've had it a week or so I'm so glad I did! Just an amazing monitor. I never want to leave my desk now!

    simple elegant design beautiful display

This display reduces clutter by having Ethernet, usb and Firewire coalescing in the back of the display and delivered through one cable to the computer. No need for a power plug.

    Thunderbolt Display - Top Notch

    • Written by from Baech

I read some of the earlier reviews and can only confirm the positives already noted. The only issue I have is my inability to daisy-chain to another non-TB display. I am unable to link my other display (Sony) through and configure it with my laptop so that I can run three screens (MBPro, TB display and non-TB display). In fact I like the display so much I am buying another one.

Overall very satisfied - 5 stars.

Thunderbolt display and MacBook Air perfect desktop solution

Everyone in my office is jealous. This monitor is spectacular. To those who gave this display poor ratings, I suggest you go back to work in your flat panel factory and leave the rest of us - the happy Apple users - alone!

    27" Thunderbolt Display WOW!

    • Written by from Copley

This is a terrific product. I have been using it with my 13" MacBook Air for the past several months with no major problems.

I do think the OSX Lion software still needs a little work. I am convinced Apple will continue to support this product fully for the forseeable future.

I love everything about this screen. Upgraded from a 23 inch screen and the difference is incredible. Like a huge hot bath. Contrast and sharpness are better than expected and the Thunderbolt cable is very cool too...

    Amazing

    • Written by from Austin

Definitely deserves 5 stars. I think the average rating on this product is being weighed down by people giving it 1 star because they didn't bother reading the product description, or even the title. This is a thunderbolt display, meaning you must have a thunderbolt connection. I don't understand the confusion, but this has been getting many 1 star reviews for that reason.

Besides that, this display is amazing. It is crisp, sharp, and very bright. Games and videos just look great. And the screen real-estate allows you to multitask very easily as well. I'll never be able to go back to anything smaller. Surprisingly, the speakers give off amazing sound. There are 2 speakers, and a one inch subwoofer inside that are great for casual listening.

Overall, this display is incomparable with any other. If you look for any other monitor with thunderbolt connection, similar speakers, or similar pixel count, you'll find that $999 is a great deal. Definitely worth the money. I highly recommend you go to an apple store and try it out if you have any doubts about purchasing.

    Worth the price

    • Written by from Seoul

Like the previous 27" Cinema Display (non-Thunderbolt version), the image quality is superb. Especially in terms of expressing color, this blows Dell or Samsung monitors we have by great margin.

As for the Thunderbolt connectivity, I haven't had any problem yet when connecting it to a MacBook Pro. It takes a little longer than optimal to turn on when connecting to a running laptop though.

Another drawback is that it works only with a few recent models of Macs, so please check if yours is compatible before buying.

    Amazing Display

    • Written by from Springfield

This is one the best best displays I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Most displays that I use with my MBP don't have the same resolution or brightness as my MBP but this Thunderbolt Display is refreshing to say the least. This display is definitely worth the investment.

    Amazing Display

    • Written by from Irvine

I've been using my new Thunderbolt display for just over a month. This display is amazing. I use it with my MacBook Air at the office and I simply connect the Thunderbolt display and I am connected to the network via gigabit ethernet. I also have access to my external kit - Firewire 800 HD, USB printer, etc. Little to no effort when connecting, it just works, very well. I highly recommend this display. In fact, I just ordered another one for the house. You can't go wrong with the 27" Thunderbolt display.

    Awesome!

I just brought this Thunderbolt monitor home to pair it up to the MBA and the setup is just awesome. The docking features are great where I can hook all my accessories to while keeping a really clean desktop. It is so clean, I am actually using it on my kitchen bar since that is where I spend most of my time.

It is well worth the price since if you look at comparable spec monitors, they cost just as much or even more than this unit. Samsung will be bringing a 27" with similar specs out in 2012 but it will be $200 more. Totally happy with this purchase and I am a converted former Sony fan.

    Fantastic Product

    • Written by from Falls Church

The Thunderbolt Display is an absolutely amazing product, though the price is hardly stomach-able. The USB ports on the back, plus the Ethernet, are great. No more cable-shuffle when you need to get going. The built in MagSafe charger is certainly helpful as well. It lives up well well to its description of "The Ultimate Docking Station". What's missing? An audio jack for headphones, or better yet optical out and enough for 5.1 sound.

    Well... apple is for pro-vip-people

    • Written by from Belo Horizonte

I think that TDB display sounds great, amazing images, high definition and the incredible feature that mix ethernet, video, USB/firewire traffic on a single dual channel port. It`s a incredible technology associated with a wonderful image on screen. Proportions... and things like that... you have the multiple desktops on Lion. And it is reasonable that if you want something FULL screen it should take every pixel of the screen... not be cut over various screens, and in full screen you do not want to see anything but a specific app... Great job Apple. Keep the god work.

Take the plunge. You will be happy you did.

I made the jump from PC to Mac less than a year ago. After relocating across the country we decided to commit to Mac. Our home office has two 27 inch Thunderbolts, 1 Mac min, 1 Mac book, and a few odds and ends such as routers, mice, keyboards, and such.

The monitors are exquisite. Sure they work great, they are bright, the sound is wonderful but the quality of them is outstanding. They are beautifully to look at and into all day long. Before I spent the money on them I looked over comparable sizes from other manufactures and the decision was made to go with Apple. The other monitors are flimsy and cheaply made. They may cost 2/3 less but you get what you play for.

These are sturdy solid pieces of equipment that are well thought out by the Engineers. Yet the pieces come together as a seamless work of art. The design clearly illustrates a unity between the Engineering, Marketing, and Support teams.

I would highly recommend them. Its clear that Apple innovates while the competitors copy and mass produces. My wife's brandnew laptop from work is just as large and bulky as they had been 10 years ago just as an example. Come on.

I was quite excited to add an additional 27" monitor to complement my 27" iMac as an options trading platform. The display is beautiful and is a perfect extension, so perfect that my wife is letting me add another one :)
