    Was Nervous

I was nervous about this purchase based on some of the reviews I read here but once I got the unit home and hooked it up to a Mac Mini I am very pleased. In my opinion one of the ways Apple really stands out from other PC manufacturers is their displays... this monitor does not disappoint in that capacity and is an excellent companion to a Mac Mini and as a bonus adds three more usb and one firewire ports. Very well thought out!

Apple proves itself again to be the absolute best around. Just played bought and played Angry Birds "Star Wars" from the app store on my new mac mini and apple monitor with my son....and it was awesome!

By day I own and operate a web and graphic design firm and we have only bought iMacs up until now. This mac mini and monitor is for my home office and I couldn't be happier with this combo.

Highly recommend this combo...at least until the new 27" iMacs come out in December!

Love it!! it's easy to forget in the PC world....this sort of quality would cost you minimum 1200 bucks....and that doesn't even come with TB. Love the fact it has connector for power to my macbook. And I finally understand why they only do this in high gloss. It's easy to clean :).

Flawless and an Excellent Addition to any existing Mac!

I recently updated my Mac setup at home,

after using a 3.06Ghz dual core with a Samsung B2200 display, thought i'd had a great setup, but after making the change to a 2.07GHz Quad Core with 16GB of RAM i though i'd update my second display too, this display is beautiful, the colour matching to the iMac is fantastic for a start, but i have never witnessed such seamless integration using a second display, the viewing angle is off the hook, and you only notice a change in quality if you're not looking at the screen at all!

I use High end programs such as After Effects and Final Cut Pro endlessly and now i have this amazing quality second display i am sprawling every piece of my programs across both screens as i never loose referencing quality with this display.

also, with thunderbolt connections and daisy chaining possibilities, this is a future-proof piece of kit!

10 million stars, quite the financial pinch, but well worth it!

    27" Thunderbolt Display WOW!

This is a terrific product. I have been using it with my 13" MacBook Air for the past several months with no major problems.

I do think the OSX Lion software still needs a little work. I am convinced Apple will continue to support this product fully for the forseeable future.

The Thunderbolt display is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone that comes into my office comments on the crispness and clarity of the display. The additional USB 2, Firewire 800, and Thunderbolt ports greatly reduces the clutter of cables and hubs that used to litter the desktop space around my computer. The only downside I can think of is now my wife is going to want one for her MacMini.

This is an expensive (by most people's standards) investment, but one that is going to pay for itself down the road. I use this driven by my late 2011 MBP with a seagate TB hdd attached for media management. The resolution in this monitor allows me to do single window video editing in premiere pro and allows me to work on photographs in big clear detail. I love it!

Just purchased the MacBook Pro thunderbolt and Cinema Display thunderbolt. Monitor came with everything needed to connect. It instantly worked, just by connecting the cables. No screen flickering etc. as I have seen in previous reviews. Works 100%.

I am a professional Web Designer and this was the perfect solution. Thank you Apple : )

I bought the display today and at first i thought it was a bit pricey, but after a couple of hours I have seen just how good it really is. I have it linked up to my mac mini and haven't had any trouble with it waking up from sleep mode, like others have reported. Also the glossy screen hasn't posed any problem yet. Overall very nice looking and performing product, well worth the large amount of cash.

I love everything about this screen. Upgraded from a 23 inch screen and the difference is incredible. Like a huge hot bath. Contrast and sharpness are better than expected and the Thunderbolt cable is very cool too...

The high price tag of this display put me off at first, but after some research, the same LG panel in this display is being sold by Dell in their UltraSharp line for $1099. I'm using this with an Early 2011 MacBook Pro and it's simply amazing. It just works beautifully every time. The clarity is amazing and makes my work day so much more enjoyable. There's just nothing I can think of to complain about with regards to this display.

I replaced a 30" Cinema Display with the Thunderbolt Display I miss the slightly larger screen.

Other than size I really like the monitor for it's quality and features such as the iSight camera and the multiple ports including ethernet on the back of the monitor. The colour output is excellent and I found it calibrated easily.

This display is so Awesome. Bought refurbished and can't be happier. The late 2012 Mac Mini and this display are a perfect match. The price is cheaper than any other 27" display with the same resolution. Don't buy junk, get this display.

Mine is connected to a 17in mid-2011 MacBook Pro. I've owned mine for 4 months. The display is crystal clear and the audio is good. If I wanted better audio I could add a pair of external B&W's, but I don't see a need. I boot to windows 7 with the laptop lid open. Windows 7 look great. I play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit in Windows 7 and the speakers are fine

I have my Ethernet and USB devices connected to the Thunderbolt Display. This is really slick because when I need to disconnect my laptop, I only have to remove the Thunderbolt and power cable,

For me me this is very clever product that lives up to what Apple said it would do.

Awesome. Steve and team did it again

I bought it to try it out. My other monitors are Acer 24 inch displays that are 1080. I often had problems working on my computer past a few hours. my eyes would almost see nothing as all the light seems to blend together. This is not the case with the Thunderbolt display. Had hooked them up together today after 10 days of ownership to decide if I want to keep it.

The original LCD display i had was so dark dim, and the text and graphics were so poor that I could not possibly go back to it. I am a graphics designer part time and I can't believe all the colors, contrasts and resolution that was missing.

My only gripe is that it does not work with my mini-display MBP. So now, I have an excuse to upgrade that as well :)

Was a little hesitant purchasing it because of the price. But I have no regrets buying it. Great colour and picture, and the design is beautiful. Its really nice to also have the camera in the front and all the ports in the back. Would highly recommend it to anybody looking for something to increase the size of their macbook's screen or somebody looking for a display for their mac mini!

Turns a MacBook into a great workstation - Like a giant iPad

    • Written by from Chesapeake

10 of 13 people found this useful

I was on the fence about spending so much on a Thunderbolt display, but after using it for about 4 months now, I am very pleased with it. The display is like having a giant iPad display on your desk (the good and the bad). As a software developer, I enjoy all the real estate. I'm a big user of gestures so I added a wireless Apple trackpad and keyboard providing a consistent feel to working directly on the MacBook. The display is sharp and the picture quality is very good. Like an iPad, the screen being clear glass, picks up a lot of glare and reflections, so I had to eliminate any light sources from behind my desk.

Overall, I have gotten use to some of the issues with working with the display combined with the laptop display and moving back and forth between multiple desktops and full screen applications, etc. I generally close the laptop because navigation between multiple desktops is awkward when the laptop display is in play. After adjusting desktop settings, the position of the dock, etc, I have gotten use to working on the Thunderbolt and it has increased my productivity.

There are plenty of USB connections on the back that are very handy to connect iOS docks, and other devices. I like having the MacBook Pro pick up the network via Thunderbolt via a direct Ethernet connection. The sound quality good.

I absolutely love the display and hope it keeps working. I also hope that Apple will continue to refine how the operating system interfaces and interacts with the display. The display is attractive and very functional. I think of it was a luxury product. There are other displays out there that will offer the same real estate and screen quality at a lower price point, but this Thunderbolt is more than a display and is just beautiful.
