    Built for style and feel

    I finally got this this past Christmas for my 4S (I've held out for so long because of the price) and I'm absolutely in love with it. For those of us who don't drop their phone (it's not that slippery...), this is the perfect fit! The only complaint I have is that it's a little hard to reach the vibrate toggle, but I don't need that more than a few times each day and can still do it without looking. I didn't want this for protection, but I'm sure it does a fine enough job for drops from reasonable heights.

    Scratches!

    Left ugly scratches around the sleep button, silent switch, and dock connector. some small ones all the way around the steel band.

    Nice but they don't last

    I have had to replace them 3 times this year. The silicon starts to crack, as the poster below states. And at $29 each these are not cheap? They should last more than 4 months. I hardly ever remove the phone from the bumbper... just normal use.

    Other than that, they are nice and fit the Iphone 4 well.

    I got this phone for free when the iPhone 4 was released with reception problems, so I can't say I lost money. BUT, I would never buy it. It stretched out super quick even though I didn't take it on/off. it scratched up the silver sides of my iPhone so quick!

    Design flaw

    This bumper is the slimmest and the nicest looking bumper but each time you have to plug in to recharge or sync you have to take it off, because it does not allow the plug to lock in fully and it comes off enough to disconnect it due to the thickness. Taking it off everytime you recharge which is every day, the rubber eventually rips.

    Does exactly what it says with understated style

    I had an iPhone 3gs for years and converted to an iPhone 4s a couple of months ago. I like the phone so well that I wanted to keep it naked. Unfortunately, the back of the case got a little scratch during that time (about 2 weeks). I went out and looked for cases but I really wanted something that protected well but was not bulky. In the end, I opted for the bumper and I'm really glad I did. There are no more scratches since I put the bumper on. I removed it today to check for scratches on the edge of the iPhone, but there are none.

    A lot of scratches after month of use!

    I wanted to protect it and at the same time have something stylish. Who knows the phone better than apple? Answer: apple. I put the bumper on my phone and it looked very nice and stylish. Just what I wanted. Well the nightmare started 7 months later when I removed the bumper. My phone was ruined the whole stainless steel antenna had some type of scratches or imperfection it didn't look pretty at all.

    Works Great!

    I have had my iPhone 4 for 1.5 years. I am on my second bumper and am very pleased with the performance. The bumper offers a suprising amount of protection...I have dropped my phone on hard surfaces like concrete & asphalt and once it flew from my lap and skidded accross the parking lot under a car a couple of spots over with no damage to the phone. It dropped from my truck into the street over the weekend - again I expected it to be cracked or broken but the phone was fine. I'm a believer in the bumper.

    Best Case

    Ive gone through about 4 cases for my white iPhone 4s by now, and i can confidently say this is the best by far. It lets you be able to feel the glass on the back of the phone which is my fav part. It also protects it from all sides and the buttons have a great clickiness still, as they are metal.

    I highly recommend!!!

    Design flaw

    After use for less than a year, the bumper delaminated around the Home button with the top layer of the bumper coming detached from the rest of the bumper. Seems to be a design flaw as the exact same problem was experienced by a co-worker as well.

    Nice idea, poor quality.

    I purchased my bumper approximately 4 months ago, I love that it keeps my back glass slighty off of surfaces that may harm the glass. The colors selections were fun and a plenty, and I feel it has saved my phone many times from being broken. However, the coloring I chose (blue) stained soon after I bought the product, my face makeup included! I'll be looking for a new phone cover soon because of the discoloration, if Apple improves the materials it is made of I would buy it again though.

    Dissapointing

    As previous reviewers have noted, this item does not hold up well at all. The rubber around the edges has begun to deteriorate and is separating from the plastic. Additionally, the bumper offers little protection. At $29.00 it should have lasted more than a year. I’ll go with a different case this time.

    Good idea, major problems

    I like the fit of the bumper and it does do a good job of protecting the phone, but it has several major flaws:

    The rubber starts to separate from the plastic frame over time.
    The opening for a 30-pin usb connector on the bottom does not fit all of Apple's own cables, let alone third party cables. Even the new Apple Digital AV Adapter cannot be used with the bumper on.
    Same goes for most docks and speakers with built-in docks. You have to take the bumper off.
    Which brings me to my last point, the bumper wasn't really designed to be taken on and off repeatedly.

    rubber lips deteriorate rapidly

    Bumper is glossy plastic band surrounding phone edge, and soft rubber "lips" front and back to hold bumper in place on phone. After four months use, carrying phone in pants pocket, rubber lips are breaking up and separating from bumper. For $29.00, I would feel a reasonable life expectancy for this product should be on the order of two years. $29.00 should allow for both a high quality plastic bumper/rubber lips AND plenty of profit. Seems in this case, Apple is going for mostly profit. Not covering the back glass makes this bumper less bulky (Like), but the covers with continuous bumper and back cover seem to hold up much longer, providing more protection with slightly more bulk, and, in most stores, a lower price.

    Not the quality I expect from Apple

    I got the bumper just a few days more than six months ago and the plastic has already cracked. I'm very easy on my phone and the bumper has been removed no more than five times during that six months. The plastic around the charging port cracked out of no where. I didn't drop the phone or even pull on the bumper. I'll probably switch back to a regular case.
