I loved the design of the case. The black looked great on my device.

Sadly it ripped in just a few weeks and was no longer usable. It started tearing where the plastic met the rubber.

To make matters worse, it scuffed the metal sides all around the phone. This coming from a case made by Apple? Hmm. I own a smart cover for iPad and it works great so I'm just a little disappointed. That's all.

First of all, the bumper doesn't protect the front or back glass, but it's not really advertised to do that, so no big deal. It does help if you drop it, since it will land on the bumper and not the edge of the phone.

That said, the the only part it does cover is the metal around the sides, but the bumper itself scratches the metal. Dust gets in there and makes rub marks on your metal rim due to the bumper after just a few months. So basically, the case doesn't protect the glass, and damages the only part of the phone that it covers.

Finally, after about four months, the rubber on the bottom below the home button has split and is slowly peeling away from the plastic inner part of the bumper, so this thing is not incredibly durable.

Why this 3 cent piece of rubber and plastic costs $29 is a mystery, as is what value it truly serves.

I received a black bumper for my iPhone 4 this past Christmas. After 4 months of use, the bottom part split in half. The case fits well and has a great look to it. Would be better if it lasted longer than 4 months.

I've had my iPhone 4 for a year and went thru 3 of these. They all rip apart after a few months. Google it - everyone has same issue. They are annoying enou that the docking hole isn't big enough for most chargers - but I can deal with that, what I can't deal with is a $30 product (I paid for the last 2) lasting 3 months

I first loved the case, but the rubber tears away after only a few months of casual use.

Apple sent me a second one, thinking it was a fabrication default, but the second one had the exact problem.

Trust me, at this price, buy something else. VERY disapointed.

$30 is overpriced for this, but its the best looking case, so I paid the premium. I bought it back in May and the bottom of it is already cracking around the port on the bottom. I only ever plug it in with the USB cable, so its not like the bottom port is getting a lot of stress. Its barely hanging on by the thin rubber lining and I figure it will only last for another week or two before it completely comes apart.

Also, realize that the hole is so small for the headphone jack that you cannot use anything besides the standard apple earbuds. I had to buy some jumper cables off Amazon to be able to plug it into my home stereo and aux port in my car.

The employee at the Apple store told me that they have had a ton of issues with durability with these when I bought it (should have listened I guess!), so I think I will go back to the store and show him how its failing and maybe I can get a replacement or refund.

i take very good care of my phone and this bumper is ripping and starting to fall apart. good thing it was free because iI would have hated to pay for this and have it happen. do they have a guarantee with it even if it was free? would be nice

i have a black bumper case on my iphone4, it looks good !
but just a few days back when i took off the case, i saw that it has made some round spots on the aluminum area (silver area) ! god knows why !
not a single day have i used the phone with the bumper or in some other case !

We buy a case from apple itself, and then also issues like this ?

Having paid £510 for my phone, i thought i may as well splash out to ensure it was protected. I bought front and back protectors along with the Bumper. Great! My phone is now 100% protected. WRONG! I took off the bumper after 1 weeks use and noticed scratches all over the metal band. It would have had less scratches if I did not use it.
