    black Bumper scratches the iPhone!

Guys, before you start using your black Bumper, buy a full body film to cover your headset( i.e. iWrap), otherwise your iPhone will get scratched all around. They say it is because of the dust and some other tiny things that come inside the bumper, but i used to clean the inner side of the bumper very often and i still got those scrathes. If you take a look closer to the inner side, you'll find out that the inner side of the bumper is not as flat and soft as it should be!

the bumper did exactly what i needed from it; an elevated surface keeping the front and back glasses raised, and a silicone casing for the frame. I haven't had any problems so far.

    bumper

I bought the bumper online shortly after the phone was released and was reimbursed due to the free bumper program. It has done a decent job for the year that I have owned it but I have some issues. Other aftermarket charging cables wont fit in the docking port once the bumper is on, making me have to remove the bumper to charge/syncing the phone.Initially, the bumper fits perfect and the buttons work great and I like the stylish looks. This stretches the bumper and tears away the rubber. This could be avoided if you only use apple accessories (which is probably the goal). I like the minimalist protection. The rubber does cause the phone to stick when attempting to pull it out of my pocket at times. I also utilize a invisible shield for total minimalist protection. Now that the rubber is almost completely torn, $30 sounds a little steep to replace. I will explore less expensive options that may offer other color options.

I dropped my phone on the sidewalk with this case on and the iphone screen cracked. I might as well have not had anything on my phone at all.

I purchased the white Apple bumper and I started noticing after a few weeks that the rubber on the sides of the bumper were starting to deteriorate. I thought when I spent $29-32 I was getting a great product but turns out I could of just spent $5 at the mall kiosk and saved some extra money. These bumpers WILL fall apart easily, forewarning.

    Perfect for a minimalist case

This case has a nice snug fit and provides the perfect amount of coverage for light drops and when laying down on a table. The rubber edges stick out just enough you can lay it down on each side and the glass will not touch the surface. Also the rubber makes it non-slip. The overall case is simple, light and mine has survived a nice fall on the road on the corner of the phone with no damage to the phone. Also very easy to pop off to give the phone a good cleaning. Great case for what it is. Certainly not for the person who drops their phone a lot or is careless about where they put it. Otherwise, looks nice and works great.

    Not durable

I've had this nicely designed low-profile case for 6 weeks. I like how it fits the phone and is easy to use with the buttons and cable outlets.

However, it cracked at the bottom where the power outlet plugs in. Not really worth 30 bucks if it lasts 6 weeks.

Not sure what I'll do from here.

In less than a year, case has become loose. It moves while in my pocket turning the mute switch off and on. Also has begun to tear apart. Can't believe Apple put it's name on this one. For $29 I would recommend a different case.

Like so many people, I got the bumper for free to correct the design flaw on the Iphone 4, only for it to have its own design flaw in that it has damaged my phone (scratched and worn the metal) and the rubber is falling apart. Not a happy introduction to Apple products and will probably go elsewhere in future.

    Good design improvements

I just purchased a new black Bumper to replace the one I originally purchased with my iPhone 4 upon initial release and notice that Apple seems to have made some design improvements to the bumper at some point in the past year. The new bumper has a slightly different shape to the rubber portions--an angle from the face of the case to where the rubber meets the face of the iPhone (rather than the former continuous curve). This change appears to result is a more robust rubber piece that should wear well. Also, the cut-out for the docking port has been enlarged compared to the original Bumper. While I enjoyed the original Bumper--and haven't found a case I like better--this new one feels more durable.

It works well while it lasts. The opening for docking isn't compatible with any older cords (even apple brand accessories) for charging, which means I have to take the bumper off to use my car charger, or sync with my iMac (only the new skinny wall adapter fits into this bumper). As a result, after only a couple of months the bumper began ripping apart at the edges and eventually just totally disintegrated. Not worth $30, but the best option i've seen so far.

LOVE THE BUMPER - ignore negative reviews

I never write reviews but i thought i would chime in about this one.

Obviously this case doesn't protect the back ... if you buy this and then complain about this feature you are an idiot.

Things i love about the bumper:
    1. minimalistic
    2. rubber edges - phone wont slide around. Especially useful in the car or on a smooth surface
    3. iPhone will ever touch the surface because both sides and all edges are raised
    4. buttons are classy and not recessed like other cases
    4. fits perfectly

    Things i dont like:
    1. Expensive - If this were $10 like it should be, you could buy a few colors
    2. Recessed vibrate switch is hard to get to

Comparisons to other cases i have:
Incase slider - Scratches the glass when you slide on and off. Lint gathers around edges. Bulky.
Incase snap - Piece of garbage. Will crack and hardly protects anything. Save your money.

Overall i think this is the best case you can buy. Sure, its not going to protect your phone if you drop it while bear hunting in the forest; however, for everyday use it doesnt get any better.

    Find another case..

At first, the bumper is great. It does protect the phone as it provides a nice cushion along the edges. However, it starts to fall apart very quickly. I've already gone through two, and I am very gentle with my belongings. The edges thin and start to tear away quickly just from everyday use. I would recommend getting another cover, as this one just doesn't do the job for very long.

I've gone through two of these, thinking the first one was defective, but they stretch out and become loose very easily. Look for something more durable.

    Scratches the metal rim

all corners and sides of my phone are scratched thanks to this bumper. I would've been better off buying a case-mate barely there than an apple product that does protect from low falls but at the end still leaves scratches and marks on the phone.

The bumper is really cool by concept and the location of the buttons are a perfect extension from the iphone; it offers minimal protection however and is even abrasive to the aluminum located on the outer rim of the iphone itself. Initially it snugly fits onto the iphone and feel like it was "made for it", but after just a few months of typical pocket wear - you'll find that the rubber is too soft and flimsy and will fall off the frame of the bumper. I'm glad the bumper was free or I would currently be very upset.

    Good while it lasts

I have used the bumper since the first day the iphone 4 came out. I like that it keeps the phone from sliding around (or out of my pocket) but doesn't hide the design or make it much larger.

Unfortunately, after less than a year of use normal, the silicone gasket is wearing through and ripping off on the bottom front (near the home button). A "case" that doesn't last as long as the phone isn't acceptable.

I really like this bumper! Except for price!

Other than paying $30 for it I'm on board! Gets 4/5 stars because this should realistically only cost $20 at the most.
I'm not sure why some people are having problems with this bumper though, mine works great. It fits the phone snug, the buttons work great and is very sleek. Better access to controls than my wife's SPECK case. Other cases I looked at had the following problems-to bulky (Otter), buttons hard to operate (all), must remove case to dock phone etc..
I guess maybe this case could make it difficult to fit older docks made for the first or 2nd iPhone who knows, but be reasonable people!! It works great with any current accessory for the iPhone4 or 3GS. As for it disintegrating who knows, we'll see about that but I suspect this may be more of a condition of people who take the case off and on more often in order to use older iPhone accessories. Mine shows no signs of wear or looseness and that's more than I can say for some of the other gel type cases on the market that loosen up within weeks. This bumper is great for what it is designed to do, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
