    Scratches the Anthena

it's a nice case for the iPhone but unfortunately it scratches the steel anthena damaging your iPhone's beauty and i don't know if the scratching messes up with the signal.
Also you can't use the dock with the bumper on.
I obtained the bumper with the case program of Apple, so it was free, but if i would have payed for it i would be unsatisfied with the product. i hope Apple makes something about it.

I loved the way this bumper fit my phone and how it made my iphone more comfortable to type on in landscape but one thing I did not like after putting it on and off twice with a 2 week period the hard plastic ring inside the bumper gouged my steel band up. That made me very angry as I just bought the phone. This bumper did not do anything for reception or anything not like that mattered as I never experienced bad reception before or any dropped calls. I bought this bumper to protect the steel band but it did the opposite. I would like to see apple redesign this bumper without the hard plastic reinforcement band that is in the inside of the bumper.

Was this useful? Love this bumper! disappointed that it scratched my steel band.

    Cracked within a month

Through normal use of slipping on and slipping off the bottom cracked pretty quickly. You've got to be pretty careful with this thing. The opening in the bottom seems to compromise its structural integrity.

    Buyer beware.

...most of the accessories I've bought from Apple require you to take the bumper off and then put it back on when you're finished. Eventually this stretches the rubber making it looser and breaks the plastic part at the bottom. I've had mine for about 5 months now and will have to buy another. I like it but it's a pity Apple's own accessories don't take it into account.

So this product has some pros and some cons:
    Pros:
    1. I have the black one and the fact that apple gave them away free really makes it better.
    2. Its fits nicely around the phone where it is not too loose or too tight.
    3. The volume and lock buttons are metal so it resembles the actual phone nicely.
    4. The case maintains the shape of the phone to where it is still small unlike some cases that make it clunky.
    Cons:
    1. There is no back. When I got the case, I thought it would have a clear back like mine for the 3GS had. I was wrong.
    2. Not much protection. It is a thin piece of plastic lined with rubber.
    3. The price. This is my biggest issue with the case and if it didn't come free, I would of never boughten it. The look is nothing special and the price really puts a downer on it. $30 for this isn't worth it. Find another case or better yet buy one for half the price in a mall kiosk.

I just purchased this case yesterday and had to return it before I left the store. It does not fit the Verizon version of the phone. The silence switch is like and 1/8th of an inch lower on the verizon phone compared to the at&t phone.

I have used a bumper since getting my iPhone 4 in July. I take it off occasionally to mount the iPhone in a TomTom Car Kit, but otherwise leave it on. I have not seen any scratches on the metal band on the iPhone at all, as some have reported. The bumper has the additional advantage, which I have not seen others mention, of making the iPhone easier to hold onto. I bought it right after buying the iPhone because the glass-and-metal phone seemed slippery and I was concerned about it sliding out of my hand as I typed.

The only issue is that some audio cables do not fit through the hole, as mentioned by many reviewers. I had that problem with one cable but easily solved it by filing down the plastic plug on the cable until it did fit. It only took a minute or two to do that and was not really a problem.

I just bought a second bumper for a change of pace (different color) and because the original bumper was getting a little scratched up by keys in my pocket, although it is still perfectly useable. Interesting that those keys have not scratched the exposed glass of the iPhone, front or rear, at all!

I got the bumper when I bought my phone in October. Three months later, after pulling my phone in and out of my pocket, the rubber started falling apart, and there were scratches on the metal part of my phone (where the bumper is suppost to protect it). I would like to say that it actually does protect your phone when you drop it (besides the scratches).

    I would avoid this case.

I read the reviews about the bumper scratching the steel band, so just to protect it i double wrapped the band with tape and then put on my bumper, looks amazing, and along with my invisishield my phone is completely scratch proof :)

The bumper makes it hard to use the headphone jack and the vibrate switch. After a few months, it has started to fall apart. Time to try something different.

Phone would have been better without it...

When I first got the iPhone bumper I thought it was great. I liked how it also Protocted the buttons (or so I thought). I gotta admit that it DID protect my iPhone from breaking when I dropped it. BUT after a few weeks of using it I took the bumper off and noticed that the stainless steel around the iPhone was REALLY scratched!! I BOUGHT THE IPHONE BUMPER TO PROTECT MY PHONE, NOT TO RUIN IT. Also, after a while the plastic starts falling off. I no longer use the bumper because it completely fell apart( it's in the trash now).

Ultimately the Best iPhone 4 Case!

I just bought a new revised Apple Bumper case, it is a lot better! It has a much larger opening in the dock connector to allow for 3rd party connectors, which is what some people like :) I must say after trying 13 different cases for the iPhone 4 (AT&T), I always come back to this one, the fit and finish on the Apple Bumper cases are far superior to anything out there, the only other case to come close in fit and finish is Speck’s Pixel HD cases, those are nice as well. After trying 13 different cases, those are the only two I would recommend :)

    Decent while it lasted

I've had my bumper for about 7 months and it is falling apart. The rubber around the edges is starting to rip off, which is likely due to me taking my phone out of my pocket (I'd consider that normal use). I like how minimalist it is, but I'm not buying any more of these at $30 when it only lasts a few months. At this rate 2 years of coverage would cost me 3 bumpers or $90 - not worth it.

    Could be better

    The good:
    - Stylish and minimal
    -Feels nice in your hand
    - Easy access to buttons

    The bad:
    - Hard to fit third-party headphones into jack
    - Hard to access silent switch
    - Spotty compatibility with third party dock accessories, and Apple's own iPhone/ iPod cables from previous revisions - why?!
    - After having to take the case off to charge with older cables and put back on afterwards, the rubber edges have become much looser and are fraying a bit.

Overall, I still like the case, as it's one of the most comfortable I've tried... but these drawbacks leave me wanting more.

the case was very stylish and actually saved my phone a couple of times. But apple did a very bad job in making it compatible with non apple accessories. I was forced to use only the apple charger and headphones because the ports were so specific to there products.

    Mobile Charger does NOT fit

I not worried much about scratches but I have THE Apple brand iPhone charger for my car, which does NOT fit through the opening in this bumper. For a few months I had to remove the bumper to charge in my car, now the bumper is destroyed around the opening. So, I will take my mobile charger with me and I can have the honor of paying $30 USD for a new piece of plastic. But, if I were Apple, in their position, I would also be gouging for the plastic! However not a smart way to establish long-term brand loyalty.

I use old ipod headphones and they will not fit through the hole for the headphone jack! It doesn't snap in so I can't listen. Did I get a defective bumper?
