My MacBook power cable is not working after just 2 months

    • Written by from Chicago

My power cable is not working I wish apple can come out with a better cable that can last longer, this computer and devices are too expensive for a customer to buy them every now and then. I love my Macbook, but I can't afford to spend $75 to $100 every 2 months.

    First thing to go

    • Written by from Toronto

i've been a Mac user for 9 years now and I won't debate their quality when it comes to the design of their MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones. but I will say I've had to replace my chargers on all of those products before the life of the machine ran out.
My MacBookPro is only a year old and the charger crapped out and a had to replace it.

    Tip finally twisted off.

    • Written by from Chillicothe

After two years of amazing use, no problems at all, the tip of the cable began to short circuit and I would move it around until it started to charge. Then it stopped working completely. I noticed that I could spin the entire top around and I could hear crunching, then tugged on it and the whole top pulled off. This is the only problem I had with it.

    MackBook Air power cord

    • Written by from Spring

I love my MacBook Air, but the power cord seems to have a short in it. If the cord or computer is moved or wiggled, the power in interrupted. This computer will be a year old in September, and I am still paying on it. So I should not be having to deal with this kind of issue especially since Apple is supposed to be the Rolls Royce of computers

Is the power cord under the 1 year warranty, I really should NOT have to spend $79.00 for a new one. I will not be a happy customer at all if I have to do that!

    Fire Hazard

    • Written by from Traverse City

Although my power supply lasted several years, when it finally went, it nearly started a fire. Luckily I was in the room when smoke came out of the unit while the wires began to burn & melt. Same problem: worn wires.

    Intermittent after 6 months

    • Written by from Melbourne

Love my MacBook Air but the power adapter is already intermittent after only 6 months use.

    Disappointing.

    unraveling

    • Written by from Takoma Park

I love the design of the charger and it continued to work (I'm almost at one year with it) but it just started splitting at the seams and unraveling especially at groove where you tuck in the free end of the cord. I tried to tape it with electrical tape but it just got absolutely disgusting.
Granted, it still works but I don't like exposed wires. For something that retails for 80 dollars, the cable jacket shouldn't spontaneously split. I went to get another one and hopefully it will not unwrap.

Looks good - doesn't last long - insane price.

The 90 degree fitting off the Mac, while sexy looking is poorly designed for durability. I prefer the older design that came straight off the MacBook that lasted 2 years. This one 6 months...

    lousy material

    • Written by from Raleigh

MagSafe that came with 2011 MBA is stripping badly around the area where the cord makes contact with the edges of the MBA. The outside coating also rubs off like an eraser.

Low quality power cord on Mac Air

    • Written by from Zeeland

Love the Mac Air...but power cord is not good. It appears to be ongoing problem for many. Root cause seems to be the two-pronged adapter where connection is poor. Of course...this item is not sold separately...so $80 for new plug...:(

    Useless

    • Written by from Spring Branch

Im about to have to get my third one of these because the first two stopped charging. The first one broke of at the end and the second one never light up and has stopped charging after only a couple of months. Apple needs to come up with a better design that will actually last at least a year.

    Great product

    • Written by from Norwood

I love it, sometimes a few people on the internet sound like a crowd. I've found that my power adapter is totally reliable, and most people who post a review will only post if there is something negative to say.

Works intermittently after only 1 year of use? Apple...you are better than this. Redesign or lower price or deliver with multiples...something!

    Unreliable

    • Written by from San Francisco

The power adapter that came with my MacBook Air started to fail after only five or six months. Worse yet, when I brought it to the Apple store, the "genius" wouldn't replace it since it had not completely died. Well, now it's completely dead. Now I need to make another trip to the Apple store.

Sudden Death after less than a year

    • Written by from San Diego

The power adapter that came with my Mac Book Air suddenly stopped working. No orange/green led indicator, and no "charging" icon.

Luckily, I bought the Air to replace my 2008 era Mac Book Pro, so I dug the charger out of the box, and thank god it charges.

Still, I haven't had the Mac Book Air for even a year - and the charger goes out? Unacceptable.

    Mac Book Air Charger Failed

    • Written by from Kansas City

My charger has failed and my MacBook Air is less than a year old. Anyone know if there is a warranty, and for how long? Apple, please help because I still have a good PC and am ready to return. How many of these comments do you need before you act?

    seriously?!

    • Written by from NICOLAUS

I'm in the middle of finals and all of a sudden my charger stopped working. I've put it in every position possible and now have 8% battery left and live 2 hours from the nearest apple store. You'd think Apple would do something about fixing this problem or not mark the charger up to $80. This is not what I want to be spending my money on plus the 4 hours worth of gas I'll have to pay for to go get the stupid thing so I can study! No one has a good review of this thing so fix it. Thanks for making your customers feel robbed when they have to go buy an $80 charger time and time again.
