Can we give this no star? This product does not last, and now my boyfriend and I take turns buying the adapter every month. I guess it's your turn, darling.

Worked fine until the cord ripped on the thinner side of the adapter. I don't wrap it up like crazy or anything I just put it my backpack like a normal person and it breaks after just over a year. God I hope there are third party adaptors....

    The cord breaks

I've owned an ibook for 6 years and changed the cord once. This cord though, very badly built. Mine is broken on 2 different parts, and I expect it will soon stop working. However careful I am with this cord, I mean it's a computer, the connection with the actual compute is where it breaks at this point because of the way it's made. Why doesn't it work like the older macbooks. I think these new versions are meant to break down. Disappointed in this product.

    Mine Failed Too

I thought it was just me until I saw the reviews on this power adapter. Mine just stopped after 13 months. What a shame. I've been so happy with the 11 inch Air. Great computer. I've owned a lot of PCs over the years, and this is the first time in my life that a power adapter has failed. It looks like I'm not alone. Shame on you Apple!

    The cord will fail

I had my MBA 2011 (late) for 4 months before the cord just stopped charging the laptop. Now, after 1.5 years it has completely stopped. My MBA battery works great and my brothers new charger that came with his laptop charges my laptop fine, I can safely say (just like everyone else) this charger is terrible and will fail you.

    Didn't last

This is the only faulty Apple product I've ever encountered. The power cord just stopped working today, yet my MacBook Air is less than six months old! I certainly hope it's covered by the warranty, but the other reviews here seem to imply that this is not an unusual problem. Come on, Apple, get it fixed!

    Power adapter

Have owned Mac Air for 3 years ..have replaced power adapter every year...now $80... Breaks at connection between the power body and where cord exits....you would think given Apples amazing engineering they would have come up with a better design...come Apple you can do better...don't become mediocre like Microsoft!

Okay, so I'm not allowed to write more than a handful words, so let's summarize:

Breaks after 9 months. No yanks, no pulls, only domestic use. Piece of flimsy junk.

It doesn't last long enough for this price.

Just a few days ago this charger stopped working so now I'm going to have to pay 80 dollars for a new one. I haven't been rough with it at all. I had it for almost a year and as soon as the end of my first year of having it is approaching it just breaks. It did show signs that it was breaking but I just took it as it just being faulty and it would go back to normal. Its really nice looking but they need to work on the durability of this. Btw I have the 45W magsafe macbook air charger. My mom told me to be careful with it but regardless of how careful you are it'll happen.

Was this useful? It doesn't last long enough for this price.

Charges the MacBook Air... until it doesn't

When it was working, the adapter was great. The magnetic connector stays connected reasonably well (at least as well as a traditional connector), and it does what it is supposed to do. I really like that it has the option of a long or short power cord: makes travel very easy.

HOWEVER, mine just stopped working this weekend. There is no physical damage, the cord has never been pulled on, strained or anything. For the last few months it has not been disconnected from its surge-protected power strip. It has just... stopped. I'm bringing it to the Apple store tonight, and hopefully they will have mercy on me and replace it without my needing to spend $90 or so on a new one. Unfortunately, from looking at reports on the web it seems that this kind of failure is typical of these adapters. This will factor into my purchase plans when I am shopping for a replacement notebook.

Pros: compact, easy to travel with
Cons: not overly robust, expensive to replace

    Only lasted five months

Five months after a new macbook air purchase the power adapter wire coating split open and it wouldn't charge... no green light. I had to have it immediately and the apple store is over an hour away... so in desperation my husband cut the wire and fixed it with some wire nuts and taped it back together. Now it is U G L Y but it works. I can already see where the wire in other places is bulging out and looks like a split is about to happen again.

my computer has never had any problems I've had it for almost a year now and i have never had to replace anything but I'm also really gentle with my stuff. I'm only on here because my boyfriend ripped his charger out of the wall with a chair (idk how he can do that) but he is super ruff with his stuff to thats no surprise I'm having to get a new charger for him

    Annual purchase?

My MBA is only a year old and I'm purchasing a new adapter already. Sure hope this isn't an annual purchase requirement. Love the computer not so pleased with the adapter.

The design, size and weight are great though if those are criteria important to you.

    Looks nice but fails fast

I like the design. A lot. It's light, always fits in your bag and it's magnetic. However, after 13 months of usage (that is, charging my Air maybe like 20 times because my Thunderbolt screen does the charging mainly) it failed.

I've treated it with a lot of care, because I know how fragile these things are. But this is kinda ridiculous. I'll make sure it gets replaced for free, warranty or not. It's just so disappointing that it's going to take me a lot of talking just to get what I paid for.

The first power cord I had (the one that came with the computer) worked fine for about two years. Ive had two replacement cords since then, and they have both lasted less than 2 months before they started to fail. Am I supposed to pay $80 every couple of months for power adapters? That is completely ridiculous!

I bought my MacBook Air in 2011. The adapter began to have issues within a year. Now it is completely out of warranty and has stopped working altogether. I'm shelling out the $79 bucks to buy a new one but am not confident it will solve the problem because when I took the laptop and cord to an Apple store (an hour away) it worked fine. That was a month ago. Now it won't work at all. There is nothing worse than troubleshooting a problem that will not even replicate itself reliably. LOL. Love the MacBook but hate the adapter.
