Reviews for Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adaptor for MacBook Air

I have been a Mac fanatic for years, even before the Intel move. I/my family own a Mac Pro (2008), 24" iMac (2010), MBA 13" (2011), 2 iPhones (3, & 4), iPad 2, iPod touch, 4 iPod Nanos and even an Apple TV. I have had very FEW problems over the years and have always received exceptional service from Apple.
However, this power cord is terribly designed. According to the service department, I have apparently abused my connector through "repeatedly rough" handling and "pivoting the connector" while removing the connector from the computer
- B.S. I baby my Air. I think it's total bull that I now have to shell out $85 just to cover a poor design on such a vital accessory.

I've had my MacBook Air for almost 2 years and if my nephew hadn't vacuumed the end up into the Electrolux the power cable would still be in perfect condition. It still works but I'm going to replace it because I can't stand the way it looks. I tend to be overly careful with stuff like this so I am shocked at how many people have complaints. I just hope the replacement cable is of the same quality as the OEM part...

13months new and insertion site to adapter is bent out of shape. this causes inconsistent charging. 'too soon' I say. and the price...lets not go there. the best thing is the magnetic hold to the laptop.

My power cable is not working I wish apple can come out with a better cable that can last longer, this computer and devices are too expensive for a customer to buy them every now and then. I love my Macbook, but I can't afford to spend $75 to $100 every 2 months.

After two years of amazing use, no problems at all, the tip of the cable began to short circuit and I would move it around until it started to charge. Then it stopped working completely. I noticed that I could spin the entire top around and I could hear crunching, then tugged on it and the whole top pulled off. This is the only problem I had with it.

Although my power supply lasted several years, when it finally went, it nearly started a fire. Luckily I was in the room when smoke came out of the unit while the wires began to burn & melt. Same problem: worn wires.

I love the design of the charger and it continued to work (I'm almost at one year with it) but it just started splitting at the seams and unraveling especially at groove where you tuck in the free end of the cord. I tried to tape it with electrical tape but it just got absolutely disgusting.
Granted, it still works but I don't like exposed wires. For something that retails for 80 dollars, the cable jacket shouldn't spontaneously split. I went to get another one and hopefully it will not unwrap.

MagSafe that came with 2011 MBA is stripping badly around the area where the cord makes contact with the edges of the MBA. The outside coating also rubs off like an eraser.

I am surprised to see so negative reviews. I use extensively my adapter for more that 3 years and continue working flawless

I love it, sometimes a few people on the internet sound like a crowd. I've found that my power adapter is totally reliable, and most people who post a review will only post if there is something negative to say.
