I have a connection now and it doesn't need any setting up. It just works.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I knew ahead of time that it wouldn't give me gigabit speed. After all, it's utilizing a USB 2.0 port. However, it's still much faster than WIFI. FYI to the complainers, USB 2.0 speed is 480Mbps. That's all the faster that you will ever get with this, when using USB 2.0.

I also read some reviews stating that the adapter doesn't work with Lion. That is false. I'm using it with the latest Macbook Air, running Lion. It's plug and play.

I couldn't be happier! This is a very convenient little piece of hardware.

Unlike the previous commenter, my experience with a 2011 MacBook Air 13" in Lion has been nothing but positive. I plugged the adapter in and it worked just as expected. Good stuff!

It just works. I don't need this adapter normally, but it has proven handy in those rare circumstances when WiFi is unavailable or I need to transfer something large.

With several other reviews complaining about the lack of gigabit, I feel obliged to point out that USB 2.0 is not fast enough.

sometimes hotel wifi is not that its all cracked up to be, i bought this for my airbook, worked instantly with no problems. very happy.

I plugged this in and DHCP picked up an address right away. No configuration was necessary. I ran a LAN speed test using the following setup: Macbook air mid 2011 running OS X 10.7.2 with the network adapter plugged into a USB hub (built into my LA2405 display), VMware windows 7 virtual machine with a shared NAT network connection. I got a result of about 81Mbps write speed and 55Mbps read speed. This is not bad considering the layers I'm working through in my corporate network and we don't have a gigabit backend. I needed a solid connection because the wifi at work drops out if inactive for even a minute. This serves a very important purpose.

Considering this item is more expensive than a non-apple product, I would still buy Apple because as an Apple product, I am confident that a high level of testing has occurred between the interaction of this and other Apple products. I like to think that Apple will be more inclined to fix any issues (and do it faster than a third party) should they arise in the future due to the interaction of one or more Apple products.

I have a Macbook Pro with a broken ethernet card and I cannot use wifi so I decided to buy this adapter. However, the package says MacBook Air only - and in the retail store (macoteket.se) they were not very helpful, they just said what was on the package and didn't event wanted to try the adapter with a different Mac. When I came home, I just plugged the adapter in and voila - my mac announced the USB Ethernet was found and that I can check it in the Network Preferences and I got connected.

What I like on this adapter is the cable between the USB and ethernet sockets which makes it really more usable and prettier. The price is also VERY nice. My OS is Snow Leopard 10.6.7.

I got a MacBook Air for my birthday last year and got this device. It works awesome no problem.

Excellent product. It worked immediately the first time that I tried it. No problems at all, and no set-up required other than plugging it in to my MacBook Air. It boosted my connection speed enough, compared to wifi, to overcome a problem that I was having streaming high-res content from an unusually demanding source. Highly recommended for any MacBook Air user who occasionally needs Ethernet.
