    It's Really Great!

This case for the iPhone 4 is one of the best bumpers out considering that there is mainly just apple bumpers and griffin bumpers and I used both bumpers but the apple bumper is down right the best.

Protects edges from drops, but color dulls and scuffs phone

    • Written by from Bethpage

I initially liked the white/grey bumper for my white iPhone 4S for the minimalist design with nice metallic look cover buttons. The rubberized edges provided good protection for corner drops, though the glass surfaces would still need a film for protection.

However, the rubber would take on dye from clothing very easily. The bumper itself began to become loose after multiple removals. After about a year I realized that the interior of the bumper had started to rub the metal band in a way that took away the matte finish here and there. I did not expect that, but it makes sense that a flexible bumper or case would rub against the phone and possibly cause damage, especially if dirt got inside. I had tried a fully flexible case once and noticed scratches on the back glass the first day I used it (probably from sand that got into the case and moved around).

I do not recommend the bumper or any flexible case. Go with a good hard case that won't rub against the phone.

    Honest Review

    • Written by from San Diego

The iPhone 4/4s bumper is NOT worth buying due to it falls apart far too quickly. After using it for a month or so the rubbery edge starts to become quite loose and the volume rocker also scratches the steel antenna around of the iPhone. Also it is quite EXPENSIVE, which is a rip off. Apple should retail this for $10 due to it scratches the iPhone and it is a very old case/bumper.

    Wow, great

Bought black for me, white for wife. Just like everything Apple does, design is brilliant. Shows the beautiful scratch resistant glass front and back, provides a lot of protection edges and corners where needed. Great comfortable soft grip also keeps phone from sliding. Has saved me several times, phone survived drops unscathed. Looks cool, especially white with soft grey trim.

    Falls apart

    • Written by from richmond

Less than 6 months and this thing is falling apart. Really soft silicone or rubber, it's also almost completely worn down on one corner. The fact that it only works with the original apple headphones since the hole is so small is also annoying. And the inside near corners and buttons have some kind of blackened residue. Very disappointed. Quality of a cheap knock off not something that should bear the apple name.

    Worst "case" ever

    • Written by from Tampa

Had for less than six months and it started falling apart. It's held together at the bottom by two very thin strips of rubber that tear easily. Dropped my phone from my pocket and it landed on the bottom corner and spider web cracked my front glass. Don't waste your money. If you are adamant on getting this style case buy a cheap knockoff so when your phone cracks when you drop it, at least you didn't spend a fair amount of money on a useless case.

    No. Just no

    • Written by from Brentwood

I bought this product about a week ago, and I'm sooo unhappy it's unreal. It is beyond two tight to the point where it turns my phone off, when I hit the home key it screen shots my screen, and whenever I want to put the hold key on, it doesn't work. Today was the last straw when my phone was like usual but the "slide to power off" was on top and cancel on the bottom, it stayed like that forever and then I turned it off and it took fifteen minutes to turn it on. I may be loosing my 400 dollar phone over something that was 30 dollars. My advice would be to keep all your money. Biggest waste ever

    Fell apart

    • Written by from ROUND ROCK

Mine did a nice job but Apple needs to develop soft yet more durable rubber because after 9 months the rubber broke up and separated from the plastic sides. I was forced to discard the bumper and then opt for another branded sides and back case. I enjoyed this bumper but for $29 I feel it should have lasted longer.

Turns off an iPhone 4 / changes the volume unexpectedly

    • Written by from LOS ALTOS

When I bought my white iPhone 4 in, May 2011, I got a white iPhone 4 bumper to go with it. It looked awesome and the bumper worked perfectly—loved it—five stars (then).

Even though the white gradually rubbed off the rubber flanges and the flanges turned a putty-gray color, I loved the ease of handling of the iPhone using the bumper—pulling it out of my pocket, keeping it from slipping out of my hands, taking the hit on the corners when I dropped it, etc.

I rarely took the bumper on or off—no need to—but after 15 months a couple of the bumper's hard plastic corners were dinged up from dropping it and the rubber flanges were starting to get a little chewed up from daily use. No problem; the bumper did exactly what it was supposed to do.

So, around July 2012 I go in to buy another white bumper thinking it's exactly the same design, but it's not. It's still called the iPhone 4 bumper but it's been redesigned, to "fit all iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 models." Whatever. Clearly the design has changed because the new bumper's buttons don't match the iPhone 4 sleep/wake and volume control buttons anymore.

Now, more often than not, whenever I pick up my iPhone 4 the bumper starts pressing the sleep/wake button or changing the volume even though I've not depressed the buttons but am holding the bumper from the top and bottom or by the sides, respectively. One star (now).

    Bumper Case

    • Written by from Barrington

I got my iphone in July 2011 and I went without any sort of case for quite a while. When I purchased the phone, I also bought the Zagg screen protectors that same day...so the phone wasn't entirely exposed. Anyways, I disliked the idea of spending $30 on what seems to be a tiny piece of plastic with silicone around the edges, but I also love the sleek design of the phone so I didn't want to cover that up with a bulky case. I bought the white bumper case for my white phone in August 2011 and I've had it ever since. It looks great, feels great, and complements the design of the phone. I'd consider myself to be quite a clumsy person and this bumper case has held up very well! After all the slips and drops, yes, the case is no longer white and it has a couple nicks and scratches. OH WELL...phone still works and looks great. I will be purchasing another one soon! If dirt is going to be an issue for you, don't purchase the white one. This was money well spent. I really like the built in buttons on the case... that's a nice feature.

    Grey, not white

    • Written by from PLANO

The outer rim is white hard plastic. But the edges of the front and back that wrap around the glass, the part you actually see when you use your phone, turns dingy grey and deteriorates quite quickly.

    pretty good

    • Written by from Golden valley

I have had the white bumper for about one year. It looked good and it continues to work well, but has two noticeable issues:
    1) It won't drop in to any dock with the bumper on, and taking it off just exposes the phone.
    2) The bumper's rubber edge is destroyed by normal wear, particularly in and out of pockets. It is totally shredded.

That being said, it is still the most protective of the not-chunky cases/bumpers, so I will probably get another.
    It's quality is not at a $29 level - more like $9.

    Bad discolouration.

    • Written by from Oakville

I bought the white hoping for a clean look with my black iPhone 4. Within months, the rubber portion of the bumper was a dull dingy yellow-gray. Really gross. Apple's bumper cases are nicely designed, but i'm not sure they're worth the 30 bucks. If you do choose to buy one, get anything but white.

    It's good except

    • Written by from Rochester

I bought the white one and it certainly does its job.
I dropped it so many times and the bumper took all the hits. My phone doesn't have a single scratch. The only bad thing about the white one is that it only looks good for about a week and then the rubber part turns gray. It doesn't look bad, it just looks used and dirty. I'm thinking of getting the blue one.

    Decidable.

    • Written by from Flushing

The case itself is not bad at all. I had dropped my phone with the case on several times maybe 3 times to be exact and it turned out fine. The case and my phone most importantly, was fine. The white bumper looks amazing on the white iPhone, it just looks like the phone alone without any case and that's what I like.

    Cons about this case is..
    1. The white rubber gets dirty really easily. I had this case for about 2 weeks and I am babying it. My case was starting to yellow in about a week in and rubbed off some redness from a shirt I had on my bed while I was sleeping and I guess it was buried in..
    2. The price is pretty expensive for a bumper. Self explanatory.

Overall this product is not bad but just wouldn't recommend white if you want to keep a clean looking iPhone or iPhone case.
