It started out as white but after a few weeks of going in and out of pockets and bags it isnt so white anymore

I was skeptical at first. The average review is only three stars, but I knew I wanted a bumper case. A slim profile was important to me and I like to be able to see the phone. I'm a college student so dirt and water aren't really a big concern. It lives in my pocket, see. That's not too harsh of an environment. The bumper really is an awesome possibility for the iPhone 4 and 4S. It sticks past the edges of the phone just enough to keep the back and screen off of surfaces and it's impossible to drop the phone on a normal, flat surface and the case not take the impact.

I tried two cheap knockoff bumpers before this one because I didn't want to spend $30 on such a simple product. Well, as it turns out, it's not so simple. The first bumper's buttons stuck and quickly discolored. After about a week the lock button cover fell off and cracks started to appear in the plastic around the buttons. The second bumper didn't fit exactly right. Pressure anywhere along the top edge of the phone would trigger the lock/unlock and MU phone frequently locked in the middle of a task or prompted me to shut off arbitrarily. The moral or the story is that though these bumpers are much cheaper (~$2) they just aren't quality products. This one fits perfectly. The buttons have good feel and look high quality. The profile is actually slimmer than the others I tried, too. That means its smaller in my pocket and still keeps the screen off of the table or car console.

I hope to save you the trouble of being disappointed in the cheaper bumpers and buyin this in the end, but, heck, they're cheap enough to experiment with if you want. I assure you, though, Apple's attention to detail really shines on this product. It's a perfect fit. The buttons look and feel great. I didn't have to use a knife to get the silence switch hole to fit my 4S. You can really buy this case and not worry about it anymore. Do yourself a favor and just buy this one to begin with! Great concept, feels nice and is light weight. The case scratched my phone after a few weeks and after about 2 moths, the case began to stretch and no longer fits well. The case appears to be made of very poor material and causes more harm than good.

Just got the bumper in black,feel safer yet wish it came in clear to really keep the sleek Iphone industrial look, this why so far I had refused to get a case that covers the complet design of it.
Wish I phone 4s would come in steanless steel, or metal gray at least, for a more modern cutting edge look.....

With the wide variety of colour choices, you can pick and choose a colour to match your phone. I ended up getting a white to match my white iphone. The bumper does add a bit more thickness, due to an edge. That edge will protect the screen/back from being scratched, and dropped on. Saved my phone already. The look with the bumper still remains clean and simple. Exactly what I was looking for.

The style and appearance you get with a new white bumper on a black iPhone is pretty slick... However, after about 4 weeks of usage the rubber pieces began to darken. By the 5th week, the rubber edges became this nasty brown color. Very similar to the MacBook top case discoloration issue.

It was so bad I had to replace the bumper after short use... Went back to a black bumper.

Fits perfectly. Doesn't slip out of my hands. Not a thing to dislike.

I use this on my white iphone 4s and it looks great.. finally, a case that doesn't take away from the phone! I have the invisible shield on the front and back so I'm not really worried about scratches on those areas. Minus one star because I had it in my back pocket and the drk blue jean color transfered onto the gray area, it doesn't look that bad though.

I've purchased 3 (white, black, & pink) for my iPhone 4 (AT&T) and it has truly helped. I've dropped my phone repeatedly on all sorts of surfaces and from various heights. I have never had a crack, dent, or scratch from these drops. I know it doesn't have a screen protector, but after a year and a half with my iPhone 4, I have very minimal scratching.

I agree with others' remarks regarding the discoloration of the white one. I also had this happen, but the pink and black ones maintained a quality appearance.

I would definitely recommend. I will be purchasing more for my iPhone 4S when it gets here (The original AT&T cases aren't compatible, which is VERY frustrating...).
