    Thank You Apple!

    • Written by from phoenix

My wife and I are the original owners of an early model iMac with an intel processor. We have recently purchased an ipod touch and ipad3. I was bummed, but not surprised , that our mac was out of date to use either device.
I am so glad that i looked into upgrading our macs' os and ram. I bought Snow Leopard and another 1gb. I did not install the extra ram at first, as its not required. But I highly recommend doing it 'cause now my machine runs much, much faster with Snow Leopard. I took my 2006 mac and gave it new life. THANK YOU APPLE for allowing this to happen.
We plan on buying a new mac in the fall of 2013!

    AMAZING! MUST HAVE!

    • Written by from Edina

This version of Mac OS X is incredibly fast and has lots of new features! This OS has proven its true awesomeness to me. It has fast and easy installation. This OS is definitely better than Windows, Linux, and everything else. The only thing is that it might not be compatible with older programs and software. I recommend this OS to everybody who owns a computer! I have this on my MacBook and have not found any problems with it. THIS IS A MUST HAVE UPGRADE IF YOU HAVE MAC OS X LEOPARD OR OLDER! One of my favorite features is how they made an app store for this OS and higher! GREAT OS.

Just updated and I am impressed

    • Written by from Frederick

So I have a late 2009 MacBook and I was fine with Leopard. But I wanted to have access to the App Store and was thinking of possibly upgrading to Lion. Overall, I was pleased with Leopard and had no major complaints. The bad reviews kept me away for a minute but the $30 upgrade was getting to sweet to pass.

It took about 35 minutes to install. I didn't encounter any glitches or hiccups. After the installation all my apps and data were intact and ran smoothly. Very smooth process and I would definitely recommend the upgrade.

    Worked just fine for me

    • Written by from Cool

I bought the 29.95 single user snow leopard because I had managed to convince myself I needed it to turn Java back on after the Flame issue. I installed it, and then immediately did the 1.22 GB Update. So far everything seems to be working just fine.

    Pretty Good

    • Written by from Medford

First of all, this installed pretty quick, compared to Leopard's installation. Overall, Snow Leopard is pretty good. It has many features after updating to version 10.6.8.
It is much, much faster than Leopard. Best OS I've ever used.

Problem may not be Snow Leopard

    • Written by from Westfield

I recently experienced many of the problems with my MacBook described in the reviews above. After experiencing numerous freezes and system shut-downs in the middle of a project I finally had to totally erase and reformat my hard drive. Fortunately I was able to save everything prior to going to this extreme. I then reinstalled Snow Leopard and everything worked fine. Then I re-installed MicroSoft Office 2011 for Mac and my computer again started freezing and shutting down. So I trashed Office 2011 and reinstalled Office 2008 for Mac (which I had run prior to purchasing Office 2011) and I now have no problems whatsoever. At least for me the problem was Office 2011 - not Apple or Snow Leopard.

    Big Improvement

    • Written by from liverpool

After installing snow leopard today and updating it there is a huge difference on my 2007 macbook. This is probably due in part to the first reinstall of an operating system in 4 years but none the less, it has made an noticeable improvement over leopard. Applications open faster, Flash doesn't slow my computer to a halt, dashboard loads very quickly, and the internet is faster. For $30 i'd say it was very, very much needed.

Snow Leopard Hosed my May 2009 Macbook

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

My Macbook was running great under Leopard but then I tried upgrading to Snow Leopard and the install failed three times and hosed my system and now I can't even use the recovery discs. I still have a year of applecare so they will have to pay for it but beware.

    Wrecked my computer

    • Written by from Thunder Bay

Generally my 2007 iMac has worked fine (had bluetooth problems) but in December I upgraded to iPhone 4 which was not compatible with my version of itunes. To upgrade iTunes I needed at least leopard os (I had 10.4). That worked well but then I figured I would get the most recent os to avoid that problem in the future. Loading snow leopard worked fine, but once I did the system updates then my computer would
    -freeze all the time
-id get the rainbow wheel forever
-it would not wake up from sleep mode
The only fix is to shut the thing off. A friend gave me some tips
    1) reset pram: from off push pwr and cmd, and letter p and letter r all at same time while computer chimes
    2) from off, press start button and hold
    3) to boot in safe mode, from off hold shift key while computer turns on

Works great, like any other Apple product I've owned

    • Written by from Ventura

I have been using Apple since 1992 profressionally, performing reinstalls, maintenance and networking, and being a graphic designer as well. The problems I have with them are few and far between, including printers, cameras, 3rd party hardware and software.

For 10.6.x: I love it. I run a MacBook Pro i7 15" and the OS screams. I have an iPhone, Cintiq 12WR and external drive for back-up, and an older HP all-in-one printer. I have no problems, the OS is seamless as, or more than, any other OS I've had and I recommmend it to anyone.

I always suggest a back-up and restore to a fresh install, as any professional. That is the best way to do it.

I only give 4 stars because there should always be room for improvement. For instance, give me more access to removing Control Panel items.. all in all, I love this OS. Period.

    waste of moneyyy

    • Written by from kenmore

I installed it and I was pleased with the speed of Safari and how glossy everything else was. Then I attempted to print a page from my Chemistry book and guess what. Well my printer didnt work. I tried installing printer updates and re setting my my printer but nothing worked. So what I have left is to simply get rid of the snow leopard and go back to the older version. I was planning on buying the Lion but why should I waste my money?

Upgraded from leopard to snow leopard because safari was out of date, i have aperture 2.1 version and it does not work, will not open, with snow leopard. im guessing i have to upgrade that now ,going to call in about that. i did notice that start up takes a few seconds longer but it isn't a big deal, i need to upgrade my memory anyway that may help it.

    Maybe you'll be lucky.

I held out as long as I could but my new camera's raw files require Lightroom 4 and that, alas, meant Snow Leopard. So far, SL has disabled my Epson scanner, printer and profiles. All the drivers have been updated and still, Snow Leopard asks for newer software that doesn't exist. Rather than wait to discover what else does not work, I am going back to trouble-free Leopard. Leopard just works.

    Frustrated

    • Written by from Parry Sound

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I think it is unbelievable that in order for me to upgrade to the Lion (or now the Mountain Lion), I have to purchase all of the previous versions. I understand that it is definitely a lot cheaper than upgrading on a PC, but it's a waste of $29.99 (buying Snow Leopard to upgrade to Lion which is ANOTHER $29.99) or $59.98 (buying Snow Leopard AND Lion to upgrade to the Mountain Lion which is probably ANOTHER $29.99) as I won't even be using the versions I'm paying for other than downloading the next version. Pretty soon there will be softwares and programs that REQUIRE these higher versions, and I will pretty much be forced to upgrade. I don't understand why we are getting a new version every year. It just seems that once somebody gets used to one version, another comes out.

    So Much Better Than Lion

    • Written by from Middletown

Snow Leopard is the best version of the MacOS ever. And now, Lion and the upcoming Mountain Lion are trying to move the OS more towards the iPhone/iPad interface. Snow Leopard is simple, easy to use, and best of all, it has the best performance by far, even compared to the new OS. The new one's feel sloppy and glitchy compared to Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is still the best MacOS, and unless Apple changes the direction it's heading, I fear this might just be the last great desktop OS from Apple.

    Awful

    • Written by from Glen Rock

Snow leopard is awful. I got it because I needed a newer operating system to run maya and mudbox, but it was so not worth it. I've had it for about a week now, and I've gotten error messages I've never seen before, and had to restart my computer like four times. I've been having problems that I never had with leopard, and I'm seriously thinking about uninstalling it.

    Snow leopard Good But

    • Written by from Sunderland

I am still learning about Snow Leopard, and so are thousands of other people. How do you do this or how do you that. So it seems crazy to me to bring out Lion, and i heard there is another upgrade Mountain Lion. You are just getting use to a system then they bring out another 2 versions. It`s OK for these whizz kids, because they are gifted with this knowledge. I wished i was gifted with this technical knowledge, but unfortunately i am not. Microsoft are the same. I was using Windows 98, and then they brought out Windows Vista XP or something like that. This made me change from a PC to a Mac, because a friend showed me about the Mac system. I found that the Mac system was very user friendly, don`t get me wrong you still have to work at it.
