NOTE: These comments apply to the iPad 2 only.

I am very pleased to say that screen mirroring on the iPad 2 works beautifully. Everything you see on the iPad 2 screen is projected through the vga connector. As you rotate the iPad 2, the projected image mirrors it exactly.

Keep in mind that the vga connector is video only. To amplify the sound simply use an audio cable and connect through the external audio out.

The only drawback with this connector is that there is no ability to simultaneously to simultaneously charge the iPad batteries while mirroring through the vga adapter. Because the iPad 2 has a long battery life, this should not generally be an issue if your batteries are fully charged. If you are concerned about the battery life, you can do a couple of things to lower the energy consumption on the iPad 2:

* You can lower the iPad's screen brightness (found in the iPad's settings).

* If you do not need to be using the Internet while projecting through the vga adapter, you could try setting your iPade to "Airplane Mode" (also found in the iPad's settings). Apparently there is a certain amount of energy consumed searching for WiFi and 3G signals. So disabling this search (by turning on the Airplane Mode) should lower energy consumption and thereby extend the battery life.

My guess is that lowering screen brightness would really help to extend the amount of time you can view without recharging.

This will seamlessly work with iPad 2, 100% mirroring for everything.. iPad 1 - will only work with specific apps

On the minus side, the cable is of apparent limited use. The vast majority of apps do not have support for the Apple VGA Adapter.

On the plus side, if all you need is the combo Apple VGA Adapter + a web presentation tool + an iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Generation, then there are apps for that. Search the App Store for web presentation.

Conclusion: If you need the VGA Adapter to browse the web or play videos, you are in luck ; if you need the VGA Adapter to project your favorite app, make sure that app explicitly supports external screens.

This is a great product. I watch movies on my iPad on a big screen. I can use my slingbox off my iPad and put it on a big screen. Love it!!!

If you have the right expectations, this thing works great on the newest iPhone and iPad. You just have to have Apps that are designed and ready to be projected, and every App is not designed that way at the moment. Don't blame the hardware when it doesn't work - blame the Apps.

ok so people complain that it doesnt mirror the screen on your idevice to your tv like they want it to when its CLEARLY stated in the discription that its for slideshows and videos so people just need to stop being stupid and complaining about their own stupidity. if your looking to watch movies on the big screen or slideshows then this is for you, if not dont bother.

This accessory works impeccably when you download movies on torrent sites and use the VLC app, but when it comes to watching movies you purchased from iTunes, your *ish out of luck! This is completely unjustified on Apple's part, especially when they're the one's enforcing DRM. If you want the public to come to the realization that piracy is illegal, then you should really try to cater to our needs.

Netflix works impeccably too! So I ain't got much to complain about either way...

The reason this doesn't work with very many apps is because the developers haven't built it into their software. It has nothing to do with this hardware. It's the software that doesn't support it. Who knows? Maybe all apps on ios 5 will work with this vga out. Anyway, stop yelling at apple. It's the developer's fault. It works exactly as promised, hence the rating.

I was ready to write a bad review because I could not get the VGA adapter to work with my LCD projector. After doing some trouble shooting I replaced the VGA cable that came with the projector with one I got with my flat screen LCD monitor with my pc and now it works. I can display presentations and videos.
