This does exactly what I expected it to do: show my Keynote presentation/slideshow through a projector. I have been running informational slides during the networking portion of our professional association meetings, and this makes it even more simple as I don't even have to take my MacBook Air.

I can make a Keynote slideshow on either directly on my iPad2 or create on my computer and move it to the iPad later. (I used Dropbox, but iCloud should be a good option.)

It mirrors what's on the iPad. I also tried it with my iPhone 4 -- worked perfectly with that also.

    I'm not using sound.

I have this adapter connecting my iPad2 to a projector. Everything that appears on the iPad screen is projected onto my classroom whiteboard. Everything... If it is on my screen, it is mirrored by the projector.
My particular projector doesn't support sound, so I have to connect an external set of speakers using the headphone jack. It works for me.

Works perfectly on an iPad 2

I'm wondering if most of the negs are from iPad 1 users, because this thing works great on an iPad 2! Everything on the iPad shows up on the monitor in mirrored mode. I used the Time Warner app to watch TV in a room that has none. It also worked with a switch box, so I can do a presentation on the pad, then switch over to my MacBook. Sweet!

I bought this to do a presentation in my communication class, & it was awesome. Not only did it mirror keynote and pages, but it even mirrored my TIME magazine app, which gave me more visual support for my presentation. Must buy for ppl who want to use their Ipad to do more than play games

The item works perfectly with my iPad 2. Excellent for presentations and demos. On my iPhone 4 it doesn't enable mirroring but I read the description so I was aware of this. People really have to stop giving products bad reviews because THEY didn't read up on the product they we're buying. Another excellent apple product.

    Works as Expected

Plugged into iphone 4s and instantly saw mirrorred image of my phone screen projected. Ran through several hour long presentations using keynote and worked perfectly. Plus, was smart enough NOT to project phone calls or text messages onto the projector during the presentation, only on the phone itself. Some complain of loosing the picture, the connector is a bit thick so you may have to remove protective case from phone, otherwise it will not fully "click" and connect.

Perfect accessory, it works with Ipad 2 perfectly, everything you see on your pad is visible on the projector screen or Smart Board. I am lecturer and it really helps a lot.

I'm guessing the problems highlighted by other reviewers are for the original iPad. On my iPad 2, this product worked perfectly.

I just bought this on Saturday and today (Monday) I hooked up my ipad2 to the projector in my classroom and it worked! I was even able to play a video downloaded from Netflix! So excited to have this for my students!!! I was worried after reading the other reviews, but was told that with iOS5 this would work - and it did! I had already upgraded to iOS5. Thanks Apple!

This product is great and works exactly as advertised. There are several complaints on this page about it not mirroring the screen of the iPad. These complaints would be valid if Apple didn't say Video Mirroring Only Supported on the iPad 2, right underneath where it says what the package contains in the product description. People need to read the information that is there.

I had just recently bought this device. I have an iPod touch 4th gen and an iPad 2. The via adapter automatically adjusts the video to the best quality the tv or projector can handle. The quality the adapter puts out is stunning for VGA. The iPad mirrors almost everything you can see. The iPod only puts out the video from YouTube and your iPods library. The iPod supported 720p at it's maximum. The iPad can support up to 1080p maximum. I also bought a 60 inch led tv, and the quality from the iPad looked great. Love this product. One thing apple could improve on in the next line up could be a VGA adapter with a digital audio output.

This is great it allows full mirroring on the iPad 2 and is great for presentations you need to show in class. Works great on monitors and projectors. Im sure anyone with an iPad 2 will enjoy. Exept for one flaw, when you go to play a movie bought from iTunes it is not supported. Other than that great buy.

The is a great adapter for the iPad2 but it gets a bad rap.

Most of the negative reviews if this adapter are for the iPad1 and do not apply to the iPad2. The iPad2 has full mirroring of the screen display and can be used to show TV, youtube, and movies projected to a TV screen or computer monitor via the VGA input in full screen mode at 1080p. You can select 4x3 or 16x9 display as appropriate. It will work with projectors as well. It does not do sound but you can easily use the headphone jack for that.

This is the cheapest adapter will full video functionality for an iPad 2 and also the most versatile. VGA input is on almost every screen these days.

This adapter is awesome. Works as advertised. Let me say again iPad 2. I hooked it up to the projector in a conference room and could view everything on it. My buddy has an iPad (original) and not so good. He couldn't get anything to be viewed except videos.
