    Works great!

    • Written by from livonia

I just bought this on Saturday and today (Monday) I hooked up my ipad2 to the projector in my classroom and it worked! I was even able to play a video downloaded from Netflix! So excited to have this for my students!!! I was worried after reading the other reviews, but was told that with iOS5 this would work - and it did! I had already upgraded to iOS5. Thanks Apple!

I bought this product because I wanted to use it to give presentations on my New iPad. It works perfectly. It mirrors the screen on my iPad exactly. Product is exactly as advertised. I am very pleased.

    Works perfectly

Bought this for my iPad and now use it on my iPad2. This works perfectly. Presenting from my iPad has become more reliable than any laptop I have ever used. Never fails. Those giving poor ratings here are not rating the product but are unhappy with iPad. A little research before buying and they would have known they cannot do full screen mirroring on the iPad. With iPad2 this has changed.

Not sure what everyone is complaining about but this product works great! I haven't found an app yet that doesn't work. The only thing so far is the IPad won't output a protected movie through the iPad port.

The VGA dongle mirrors everything on an iPad2 and iPhone4s. So far I have Successfully tried with connections to a 55 inch TV and computer monitors. I haven't connected to a projector yet, but the success on the TV indicates that using a projector will work equally well.

Love this adapter. I use my iPad and iPhone to present keynotes for class. Teachers are very well impressed. Super portable, goodbye desktops and laptops! If you need to play videos or any audio contact, use the HDMI adapter don't use the VGA.

Beautiful full mirroring with 4S and a business projector that has no hdmi (otherwise I'd use an apple TV).

Works great with projector and saves carrying MacBook

    • Written by

This does exactly what I expected it to do: show my Keynote presentation/slideshow through a projector. I have been running informational slides during the networking portion of our professional association meetings, and this makes it even more simple as I don't even have to take my MacBook Air.

I can make a Keynote slideshow on either directly on my iPad2 or create on my computer and move it to the iPad later. (I used Dropbox, but iCloud should be a good option.)

It mirrors what's on the iPad. I also tried it with my iPhone 4 -- worked perfectly with that also.

    I'm not using sound.

    VGA connector...awsome

    • Written by from Austin

I got this connector few days back. And it is wonderful. My displays (acer HD 3D projector, Samsung LCD) are acting like mirrors to my iPad. What i am seeing on my iPad is displaying on the screen. But all the videos are playing only on the screen not on iPad.

    Works great on iPad 2

    • Written by from leonardo

This is great it allows full mirroring on the iPad 2 and is great for presentations you need to show in class. Works great on monitors and projectors. Im sure anyone with an iPad 2 will enjoy. Exept for one flaw, when you go to play a movie bought from iTunes it is not supported. Other than that great buy.

I used it for several presentations. So easy to setup with the iPad2, my 7 year old daughter used for a class presentation. Being a Windows guy, writing this kills me.

Works well with a few apps

    • Written by from Bonny Doon

On the minus side, the cable is of apparent limited use. The vast majority of apps do not have support for the Apple VGA Adapter.

On the plus side, if all you need is the combo Apple VGA Adapter + a web presentation tool + an iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Generation, then there are apps for that. Search the App Store for web presentation.

Conclusion: If you need the VGA Adapter to browse the web or play videos, you are in luck ; if you need the VGA Adapter to project your favorite app, make sure that app explicitly supports external screens.

I use it to give presentations from my iPad. I've simply connected it to the VGA cable on new and old digital projectors and turned on the iPad. Mirrors my iPad 2 just fine. That was the last thing I needed the iPad to do so I could stop packing my laptop around.

    Irony at it's finest!!

    • Written by from Montreal

This accessory works impeccably when you download movies on torrent sites and use the VLC app, but when it comes to watching movies you purchased from iTunes, your *ish out of luck! This is completely unjustified on Apple's part, especially when they're the one's enforcing DRM. If you want the public to come to the realization that piracy is illegal, then you should really try to cater to our needs.

Netflix works impeccably too! So I ain't got much to complain about either way...

This was exactly what I wanted. I just wanted to be able to play keynote presentations that I made on my iPad at school for class. I don't need to play movies or see everything that I'm doing on my iPad, just keynote for school.

    I LIKE IT!!!

    • Written by from McKeesport

I don't understand the negative reviews on this product. It does everything advertised, which is to connect to external displays. It functions in a simple, yet intelligent way because unlike (say) a PC laptop you don't need to configure the device/application each time you want to connect to an external display - the iPad and apps seem to know automatically if it's present or not and execute accordingly. The device works extremely well and without errors. It appears to me that the negative reviews should really be directing their exceptions to the way in which individual apps use an external screen or how DRM media can be restricted to devices. Was I disappointed when I couldn't run a rented iTunes movie to my TV the first time I tried? Yes, but I do understand why DRM media doesn't allow that. (simple file replication anyone?) With the connector you can drive Keynote presentations for your meeting, project photo slideshows for friends and relatives, and stream unmanaged (non-DRM) media to your TV and media center. However, if you are expecting to use it to convert the iPad into a mobile movie projector (a DRM violation) or as a method to simply replicate your iPad display onto a 'dummy' screen or projector, then you might want to consider this purchase more carefully. Bottom line: I use it for both business and personal use (presentations, photos, unmanaged media). I like how simple it is to use (plug it in and go). It works flawlessly each time (never fails).
