    Works great on iPad 2

This is great it allows full mirroring on the iPad 2 and is great for presentations you need to show in class. Works great on monitors and projectors. Im sure anyone with an iPad 2 will enjoy. Exept for one flaw, when you go to play a movie bought from iTunes it is not supported. Other than that great buy.

The is a great adapter for the iPad2 but it gets a bad rap.

Most of the negative reviews if this adapter are for the iPad1 and do not apply to the iPad2. The iPad2 has full mirroring of the screen display and can be used to show TV, youtube, and movies projected to a TV screen or computer monitor via the VGA input in full screen mode at 1080p. You can select 4x3 or 16x9 display as appropriate. It will work with projectors as well. It does not do sound but you can easily use the headphone jack for that.

This is the cheapest adapter will full video functionality for an iPad 2 and also the most versatile. VGA input is on almost every screen these days.

A great way to get your iPad content up where it can be seen. Attach to a VGA cable and display and you are ready to go. Great for making presentations where you have a display but don't want to be bothered with a projector. I've used mine on TV's, displays, and projectors and never had a problem.

I bought this for one of my classes. Sure, the adapter worked but it is over priced. I also couldnt get the screws of the vga cable to stay in so during my presentation I had to use one hand to hold the to parts together. I wont be buying another one.

This adapter is awesome. Works as advertised. Let me say again iPad 2. I hooked it up to the projector in a conference room and could view everything on it. My buddy has an iPad (original) and not so good. He couldn't get anything to be viewed except videos.

Mirroring works fine on my iPad 2

I already ordered this before reading the reviews, but when I read them, most of them were talking about how they couldn't mirror EVERYTHING that was showing on the iPad screen, but I just decided to test it out anyway. I used this to connect my iPad to a projector, and it did exactly what I expected it to do - it mirrored everything on my iPad 2 perfectly!
It also works with my Sony BRAVIA TV which also has a VGA Port, and again, it mirrors everything perfectly.
I'm not sure why other reviews are saying that it only mirrors videos and power points and supported apps, but maybe that's just for the first gen iPad.

I bought this to hook up to projectors and displays for presentation duties over at client’s places with my iPad2. Works great and impresses a lot by itself. But read the fine print! Mirroring is not available with every device it works with...

I used this with iphone 4 before and it worked (only for tv-out like photos, ipod videos and powerpoint slideshow), but later it doesn't work anymore. I think after I updated my ios to the latest version, this thing was really useless to me. So up till now, I'm still waiting if Apple will update the ios again but with this issue fixed. =(

I purchased this to use my iPad 2 with my projector for a training class I am planning. I tested it and it works perfectly for what I need. It mirrors exactly what's on the iPad screen. I didn't have any problems with any of my apps including Safari, photos, email, iBooks, Quickoffice, Amplitube, Star Walk, and videos without DRM.

This highlights one exception that may be a deal breaker for some. It absolutely will not project any videos with DRM. I purchased one movie via iTunes just for the fun of it. That movie will not play on my projector using this adapter. However, any videos I ripped from DVDs to m4v project absolutely fine.

On the Apple site is does say, "Mirroring supported only by iPad 2." However, the text is gray on white instead of black on white making it hard to notice. I'm surprised Apple would allow this as unsuspecting iPad 1 users become upset customers realizing they can't do mirroring.

I just bought an iPad 2 along with this adapter. It is wonderful. At our school we have been showing our students how to use a certain app or how to navigate the device by placing the (iPad/iPod) on top of an Elmo projector. It certainly has been difficult lugging everything around and setting it all up just to demo. With this little device I hooked one end to the projector cable and the other end to the iPad and it just works!!!! All the apps display beautifully on our Smartboards! Though it doesn't connect with the touch portion on the SmartBoard, the kids can always come up to the device and touch and make their selections. I am also currently working on connecting some sound cables to both. I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY! Thank you Apple for listening to your customers! :-)

Great For What It's Meant To Do!

I'm a teacher and needed something that would project my Keynote's on my iPad 1, that's all. It not only works great with my iPad but also with my iPod Touch!

I can see the day when I won't have to carry around my 15 inch MacBook Pro just my iPod Touch!

I don't need to project anything else but my Keynote's. Works perfectly!

To those that give it sub-par reviews because it doesn't mirror their iPad 1----read the fine print, it's not made to.

DO NOT BUY for the iPad 1

Doesn't work for HBO GO or anything but YouTube - I was able to see pictures from my iPhone, but not the iPad - it was $60 including the HDMI cable. I hate being so disappointed in a brand that I love so much. I hope they work this out. I really hope I can get my $ back.

    Poor design, limited functionality

After reading that my iPad 2 would support video mirroring, I bought this to use in conjunction with my computer monitor, before using it for a college presentation. As I found out right away, the 30 pin connector at one end of the dongle actually has a looser connection thn the charging cable. so, with the slightest tug, it shifts, nd the image on the screenis lost. You have to keep youre device on a flat, static surface to use without issue. A problem that could have been fixed with a little more labwork Apple.

Makes the iPad great for presentations

In spite of the availability of the new HGMI AV adaptor for the iPad2, this one is what is needed for those presentations with a regular computer projector using VGA input. This is an essential accessory for business, and now also works great on the iPAD2 for mirroring.

Does exactly what it says it does. The video mirroring was one of the main reasons that I chose the iPad over various other tablets. This cable works great and allows the tablet to connect to a projector (my usage) or any other device with a VGA port. A+!!!

Bought this for my iPad and now use it on my iPad2. This works perfectly. Presenting from my iPad has become more reliable than any laptop I have ever used. Never fails. Those giving poor ratings here are not rating the product but are unhappy with iPad. A little research before buying and they would have known they cannot do full screen mirroring on the iPad. With iPad2 this has changed.
