    ipad vga adapter

    • Written by from folsom

It shows every app, every screen, basically everything it needs to show! I use my ipad in my 3rd grade classroom and need this adapter to show the kids what to do and how to work things. WARNING: if you go to show a video, make sure you close out of that app before ding anything else, otherwise you will have no video. It simply works!

reviewers, learn to read an ad

perhaps Apple updated the info for this item, but it is plain at this point- This Item only works for certain functions on most devices. On most devices, it only plays video or photos. It does what it does, not what you wish it would do.

Excellent product, does exactly what I want it to do (i.e watch Netflix on my TV), well worth the price.

    Excellent with iPhone 4S

Beautiful full mirroring with 4S and a business projector that has no hdmi (otherwise I'd use an apple TV).

    No way to charge

I make heavy, almost constant use of my iPad in my class (sometimes four hours at a time). I can't connect to an external power supply while I'm using my adapter. It's a great product but that one missing idea really puts me back at square one. It's fantastic for shorter periods of time.

Its the fine print you don't see

    • Written by from Sterling

On the website in grey it says

"Mirroring supported only by iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Video out supports up to 1080p for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S and up to 720p for iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod touch (4th generation). Movies play at up to 720p."

This text is very hard to see. What that means is that it will push video out on iPad 1 and iPhone4 or less devices, but it will not display the screen. It is not particularly helpful to discover this vaguely hidden language when you are trying to figure out why it is not working.

Works great with projector and saves carrying MacBook

    • Written by

This does exactly what I expected it to do: show my Keynote presentation/slideshow through a projector. I have been running informational slides during the networking portion of our professional association meetings, and this makes it even more simple as I don't even have to take my MacBook Air.

I can make a Keynote slideshow on either directly on my iPad2 or create on my computer and move it to the iPad later. (I used Dropbox, but iCloud should be a good option.)

It mirrors what's on the iPad. I also tried it with my iPhone 4 -- worked perfectly with that also.

    I'm not using sound.

This product only MIRRORS with iPhone 4s or IPad2, older devices (iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, iPad1) will not Mirror under any circumstances and will be frustrating to use.
This is the feature that sold me on upgrading to the 4S as its really really cool, and its fhe way iOS and movies and apps and everything was meant to be. But I recommend getting the apple tv which does,it all wirelessly.
These adapter are not well suited for the devices, they're bulky and clumsy and the wire falls out easily, but did serve a purpose prior to the wireless mirroring on the new devises.

This product doesn't work on iPad 2 and iPod Touch

    • Written by from Porto Alegre

I bought the VGA adapter on Apple Store and the product is not compatible with iPod Touch and iPad2. Every time I connect the iPad / iPod accessory report that is incompatible.
I followed all the guidelines as Apple's forums with reports of the same problem. The suggested solutions did not work.

    With iPad2 is very good

    • Written by from Markham

Before I made my decision, I read so many comments, and looks like it working fine with iPad2. So I want to try it out, very happy, it's working in good condition in most of my app. I give it 4 stars because I didn't try out all of them last night. Anyway, I match my expectation.

    Works fine

I use this to project my iPad2 onto a screen in my classroom. Works fine for me. I just wish the cable was longer. Have to be careful orienting the iPad or the connection comes loose. Takes a few seconds for it to register once it is reconnected.

    It Works for me

    • Written by from Superior

I have this adapter connecting my iPad2 to a projector. Everything that appears on the iPad screen is projected onto my classroom whiteboard. Everything... If it is on my screen, it is mirrored by the projector.
My particular projector doesn't support sound, so I have to connect an external set of speakers using the headphone jack. It works for me.

    Used for Training

Our company purchased the VGA cable to link our iPad 2 with our projector and it works very well. The only draw back we have had, the connection to the iPad 2 is rather weak and tends to unplug itself when slightly moved causing loss of signal.

Works perfectly on an iPad 2

    • Written by from Yorba Linda

I'm wondering if most of the negs are from iPad 1 users, because this thing works great on an iPad 2! Everything on the iPad shows up on the monitor in mirrored mode. I used the Time Warner app to watch TV in a room that has none. It also worked with a switch box, so I can do a presentation on the pad, then switch over to my MacBook. Sweet!

    don't believe the negative comments

I bought this to do a presentation in my communication class, & it was awesome. Not only did it mirror keynote and pages, but it even mirrored my TIME magazine app, which gave me more visual support for my presentation. Must buy for ppl who want to use their Ipad to do more than play games

People need to learn to read the description!

    • Written by from Memramcook

The item works perfectly with my iPad 2. Excellent for presentations and demos. On my iPhone 4 it doesn't enable mirroring but I read the description so I was aware of this. People really have to stop giving products bad reviews because THEY didn't read up on the product they we're buying. Another excellent apple product.
