    Used for Training

    • Written by from Wichita

Our company purchased the VGA cable to link our iPad 2 with our projector and it works very well. The only draw back we have had, the connection to the iPad 2 is rather weak and tends to unplug itself when slightly moved causing loss of signal.

    I love this Adapter!

    • Written by from Bowler

I just bought an iPad 2 along with this adapter. It is wonderful. At our school we have been showing our students how to use a certain app or how to navigate the device by placing the (iPad/iPod) on top of an Elmo projector. It certainly has been difficult lugging everything around and setting it all up just to demo. With this little device I hooked one end to the projector cable and the other end to the iPad and it just works!!!! All the apps display beautifully on our Smartboards! Though it doesn't connect with the touch portion on the SmartBoard, the kids can always come up to the device and touch and make their selections. I am also currently working on connecting some sound cables to both. I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY! Thank you Apple for listening to your customers! :-)

Cannot mirror iPad display? (Product Management got overpowered)

    • Written by from San Francisco

From a product management, I would have said:

    1) Mirror the display to the VGA screen (this will take care of 99% of the use cases, and will work with any applications)

    2) Allow applications to support dual screen mode (which is a very nice to have).

Interestingly, Apple Product Managers seem to have been overpowered by something or someone that told them to first worry about the 1% usecase, and then eventually solve the 99% one.

I could not have imagined that this adapter did not support mirroring without having read these reviews.

To bad for us, we are back to project from a PC/Mac.

VGA Adapter only for personal photo's or video's not commerical

    • Written by from Aloha

So I bought this thinking I could rent movies on my ipad, plug the connector in to my tv and watch the rented movie on the tv. Well, it didn't work that way because I didn't have the legal authority to watch the movie on the tv via the ipad. I was disappointed to say the least. If you want to show family photos or something...it should work fine, commerical endeavors however...not so much.

iPad VGA connector worst Apple product I've ever purchased

    • Written by from Hamden

As a loyal and extremely satisfied Apple customer since my first Mac SE/30, this is by far the worst Apple product I've purchased. The description is dreadfully incomplete and the functionality is minimal (and pricey). Simply put, by design, it seldom works. It does not mirror the screen, as one would expect, and it doesn't work with most applications, even many made by Apple (ie., Pages and Safari). Don't waste your time or money. I've already initiated a return. What really bugs me is the deception by omission of its limitations in the product description. Whoever designed and deployed this must have worked for Microsoft. It's that bad.

    Very limited

    • Written by from Dordrecht

The connector is good but Apple does not allow for much use on the iPad since they make usage app dependent. This means no mirroring of the iPad! Very limited!

A complete waste of time and money

    • Written by from Somerset

What a piece of junk. I can't show pictures or movies on it, so what good is it. Now I have to go back to the Apple store and a refund for a product that they shouldn't even sell. Bollocks.
I only gave one star because it wouldn't allow ZERO

Inadequate product listing - I feel ripped off

    • Written by from London

I purchased the vga adapter hoping to show the desktop and it only supports limited apps.

The inability to do basic display functions should be displayed prominently on the apple product page.

From looking at the reivews I am not the only person who has been ripped off. Shame, shame, shame.

    Highly Disappointed

    • Written by from Fresno

I bought the iPad for use in the classroom. I am very upset to find out that I can't use this cable to show apps like "The Elements" to my classroom. This needs to be fixed ASAP for this device to have any functionality in the classroom. I wish I knew about this before I bought my iPad.

    Mis(re)presentation

    • Written by from Irvine

Many have said this, but I just had to add mine and vent:

This is deceiving. I really want to be able to show what's on my iPad. Anything - not just Keynote. For example: I want to be able to use a sketching application and show others while I'm doing this. I want to be able to play a game, etc. The thing should simply show a copy of the screen on the output VGA in ADDITION to the iPad still functioning as it always does. I realize there are Apple private APIs that allow apps (such as Keynote) to present something different to the output, and that's great for some applications. But for 90% of apps, just having the ability to see a copy of the main display projected provides 90% of the value. This is so simple a function and so annoying that it doesn't exist.

I'm returning mine until the functionality is as such, if ever.

    What a let down...

    • Written by from Pleasanton

I only went in to the apple store to get the fabulous Incase iPad carry/protective case/book-jacket. While there, I saw this adapter and thought: "perfect! great! I could use that!"! WRONG! Viewing slides and movies are really secondary in my use of the iPad. Internet browsing, games, any display of app in use should be possible, but isn't. I now know better then to allow myself any future impulse buys at the apple store!

    Extremely Disappointing

    • Written by from GREENWOOD

The VGA adapter is extremely disappointing. Not many apps output to VGA - not even Safari. I was evaluating the iPad for use in the classroom (higher ed) and the VGA output is a deal-breaker. There's no way that I can recommend this product for the classroom with the current limitations of the VGA output.

Not as advertised. Will not mirror display. Will not allow you to show your content "on the big screen." I guess I'll keep lugging my laptop.

Doesn't work with new iOS 7 as before

    • Written by from South Deerfield

    Buyer Beware.
This product doesn't work anymore with Netflix app on iOS7. This is what I bought it for. Sadly the product had once worked wonderfully with all these and the rest of the apps on my ipad and iphone before I updated the iOS to 7. In fact, I loved it before updating the OS to 7 since it essentially did what it was advertised to do...mirror my video on either my ipad or iphone 4 onto my TV or projector connected to VGA. It no longer does as advertised now that I upgraded to iOS7. For everyone's information and clarity, my wife still has iOS 6 on her phone and this connector works perfectly with Netflix and other apps for her. I, however, upgraded my ipad and iphone to iOS 7 and it no longer works with Netflix on those devices that were upgraded.

Shame on you Apple for selling a connector that YOU designed and sold that doesn't work as advertised with an upgrade to the iOS YOU also designed.
For those thinking this is a Netflix app issue. My wife's iphone with iOS6 is running the same Netflix app version as my iphone with iOS7....and as I wrote, her's works with Netflix and mine doesn't.
In addition, how can Apple support Netflix when someone is connected with Apple TV, but not when using this connector? I suppose this is a way for Apple to try to pry an additional $60-$70 bucks from me for the Apple TV device.
Again....shame on you Apple. I'm getting really sick of your greed.

I own both iPad2 and iPhone4s and thought this adapter is going to be very convenience for me. But it made me ran like crazy when it doesn't support on the Panasonic Projector on my presentation day. There were "blinks" (a lot of them, in fact) when I connected via this adapter. However, two stars I gave is for working on the Mitsubishi projector on the other rooms, two stars is about right for this reason.
