Doesn't work with new iOS 7 as before

    • Written by from South Deerfield

    Buyer Beware.
This product doesn't work anymore with Netflix app on iOS7. This is what I bought it for. Sadly the product had once worked wonderfully with all these and the rest of the apps on my ipad and iphone before I updated the iOS to 7. In fact, I loved it before updating the OS to 7 since it essentially did what it was advertised to do...mirror my video on either my ipad or iphone 4 onto my TV or projector connected to VGA. It no longer does as advertised now that I upgraded to iOS7. For everyone's information and clarity, my wife still has iOS 6 on her phone and this connector works perfectly with Netflix and other apps for her. I, however, upgraded my ipad and iphone to iOS 7 and it no longer works with Netflix on those devices that were upgraded.

Shame on you Apple for selling a connector that YOU designed and sold that doesn't work as advertised with an upgrade to the iOS YOU also designed.
For those thinking this is a Netflix app issue. My wife's iphone with iOS6 is running the same Netflix app version as my iphone with iOS7....and as I wrote, her's works with Netflix and mine doesn't.
In addition, how can Apple support Netflix when someone is connected with Apple TV, but not when using this connector? I suppose this is a way for Apple to try to pry an additional $60-$70 bucks from me for the Apple TV device.
Again....shame on you Apple. I'm getting really sick of your greed.

It works for my iPad 3

    • Written by from Newbury Park

After reading all the negative reviews, I thought it might not do what I needed it to do. But, then I realized that the negative reviews were mostly about older iPads. The product description says that the adapter will allow mirroring of the iPad with the VGA projector. And it does. I will admit that some apps are not quite sure what to do with the mirroring. One pinball game only shows up on the projector and not on the iPad itself. However, most everything I wanted to demonstrate played on the projector and iPad 3 at the same time. So, I believe the mirroring does work.

Expensive VGA Adapter no longer working after 6.0 Update

    • Written by from Orlando

I’m incredibly annoyed that my $30.00 VGA adapter no longer works since updating my iPhone 4 to 6.0. I use this to display Youtube videos in my high school classroom. I have not been able to mirror my screen since Oct 2 when I updated my phone.

    Is Apple becoming Microsoft?

On iPad 2 it worked like charm

    • Written by from Bellaire

I'm guessing the problems highlighted by other reviewers are for the original iPad. On my iPad 2, this product worked perfectly.

iPhone 4S or an iPad 2 will Mirror all apps

    • Written by from Dittmer

This VGA connector mirrors everything when it is connected to a iPhone 4S or an iPad 2 running iOS 5. I knocked a star off becouse it does not charge while you are using it like the HDMI adapter does. I hope Apple will redesign this down the road

    VGA connector

    • Written by from Schwenksville

I had just recently bought this device. I have an iPod touch 4th gen and an iPad 2. The via adapter automatically adjusts the video to the best quality the tv or projector can handle. The quality the adapter puts out is stunning for VGA. The iPad mirrors almost everything you can see. The iPod only puts out the video from YouTube and your iPods library. The iPod supported 720p at it's maximum. The iPad can support up to 1080p maximum. I also bought a 60 inch led tv, and the quality from the iPad looked great. Love this product. One thing apple could improve on in the next line up could be a VGA adapter with a digital audio output.

    TOO LIMITED!

It would be nice to display everyting out so a classroom can follow along on their ipads. Everything should mirror to LCD

The VGA adapter doesn't display the iPad screen, it only displays specific apps, which are very limited in number.

    junk and really limited

    • Written by from Richmond

only displays some photos with the slideshow. most movies bought thru itunes and digital versions of purchased blue ray and dvds are blocked from display with the adapter. it will not display anything else like web pages or calanders or even the home screen. should be included with the ipad and iphone and touch at no extra cost because it does almost nothing.

IT IS JUNK DO NOT BUY!!! OR EVEN STEAL!

    another lockdown on apple product

    • Written by from Anza

How unfortunate that Apple produces these wonderful products but so severely limits their implementation by locking out features. $400 for an ipod touch 4g and I don't have the freedom to use it as a presentation device beyond showing Netflix and a couple of other apps. Let's try the Zune.

    Truth in Advertising?

    • Written by from JUPITER

Too bad apple can't seem to get it right. I walk into the apple store to purchase an ipad vga connector and ask the salesperson how it works. "just plug it in". I buy it and guess what? it only "works" for limited things. It won't output anything of any "business" value. I suppose it's nice to see my pictures on my monitor (my computer does that already). Just wanted something simple, like outputting safari to a larger screen - NOPE
Starting to really wonder what's so good about apple...

    Misleading and a rip off

    • Written by from Danville

This is a great disappointment to find out this adapter can only send signals on movies and videos only and not on any application and browsing the web. Anyone who works with a laptop knows a video out can send all video signals to an external monitor. If I could give a zero star on this, I would.

    Not what you expect

    • Written by from Tigard

It is a surprise that it's not a display adapter, but an external monitor connection and it only works with supported apps. So, if you're expecting a generally operational display adapter then you will be disappointed. Apple should change its labeling.. Or better yet, make a true adapter. For example I can't watch movies on my jumbo monitor because of DRM restrictions, and can't see most anything because few apps support it.

    LAME!

    • Written by from SEATTLE

This is the worst item I have ever bought from Apple. It is a $30 paperweight. The reason, as other reviewers are pointing out, is that this almost no applications mirror their display to the projector. Give me a break.

This so needs to be corrected. Imagine if this was the behavior of a video adapter on any a MacBook? Come on Apple. Don't fire the guy that lost the iPhone, fire the person that let this happen.

    Worked better than I thought.

    • Written by from Corona

I purchased this to allow me to show information from my iPad 2 onto the screen for my students to see. Based on the reviews I didn't expect much, but to my surprise it allowed everything to be projected. Games, grades, drawing programs, you name it... except movies bought from iTunes. I'm not happy with that, but this product was well worth the cost.

Its great when its not killing my battery

    • Written by from oakwood village

I have a 4th gen iPod Touch and this adapter is a BATTERY KILLER. My iPod will be 100% battery with a Bluetooth keyboard and my battery will last just as long as if Bluetooth was off, but once I plug in the VGA adapter my battery drops from 100 - 70 to 30 and then dead in matter of 5 to 10 mins. I tried this without the keyboard and it did the similar process. My opinion is if you only have VGA port and dont feel like spending more money then get this but just little bit more you could get the Component adapter (less quality but cheaper) or HDMI adapter (Best quality but more expensive) and just buy a VGA converter for those ports because those two adapter can charge while you use them.

    It does what AirPlay does

    • Written by from Concord

This is a somewhat older product that I feel should be disconitunued. It does NOT simply mirror what's currently on your iPad/iPhone, it has the same limitations AirPlay does. It can only mirror movies, files from iWork (such as slide shows and presentations), photo galleries, and music. You can already do all this natively on your device with air play (it's that symbol that appears when you're doing something that enables it). However you will need something that can receive AirPlay (blu tooth, wifi, etc).

If you want to mirror the image exactly get the adapter that looks just likes this, but with a hdmi output. Although they look the same the hdmi allows for exact imaging of everything on your device (as in you can see the home screen and swipe and everything, look it up on YouTube)
