    Doesn't work with card reader

I have 2 different card readers that I tried with this accessory. One gave me an error message that said the card reader needed too much power, but it wasn't connected to any power and neither was the iPad.

The other card reader worked until I brought it on vacation to New Zealand but now gives the same error message. This is frustrating since it is a major reason I bought the iPad. To top it off there doesn't seem to be online help for this.

    Not working!!

I have both iPad & iPad2 in my house and got the same error message on both saying that i cannot use this accessory as it consumes too much power. The funny thing is that I actually bought 2 kits thinking it was a smart move and got them delivered to the middle east... Waste of money!! Is there any way to work around the problem?

    bad move apple!

Picked this up to upload pictures to my ipad and when I connected it with the usb adapter, it came up with the message that it required too much power... I called the apple store before I bought this and asked specifically if there were any known problems with this adapter and was guaranteed that it would work... all I had to do was plug it in and it would upload my pictures. I am not happy with this and will be returning it to apple. What is frustrating is that I called up the apple store before I bought this and was given incorrect information. Why does apple even sell this when they know it won't work... bad move apple... very bad move!!

    Camera kit/ Sony Cyber-shot

Purchased IPad 32g Wifi along with the camera kit. The IPad rocks, camera kit does not!
Sony uses their stick for the memory card, so I connected the camera to the IPad with the USB adapter, message comes up on the IPad "device not supported".
My question is.... What camera/ media card does the connector kit work with????

Why won't the SD card connection kit work?

I love my I-PAD 2 in many ways. I have a Nikon D-5100 with an excellent high speed 16 GB SD card. Neither the SD card nor the camera connection works. I have a 64 GB wifi & 3G IPAD-2. The same SD kit works with my daughter's 32 GB IPAD 2. The AV connector works great with my IPAD. I don't think anything is wrong with my connector. When I plug in the SD card kit I notice that the card is recognized in settings, but the transfer screen does not come up. I think this is very poor engineering. I feel I am a slave to the poor engineering in the Itunes setup. Apple, can't you make this right?

    Doesn't recognize

This connection kit doesn't recognize my SD card, neither my camera with USB cable...
I brought my camera, iPad and connection kit to my trip as I take LOTS of pictures. For the first 3 days of my trip, this connection kit worked OK but after that.... No reaction. I was going to move my pictures from my camera to iPad. NO reaction.
I waited, waited, and waited for 10 minutes. NO REACTION AT ALL.
As a result, I had to take less pictures just to save the memory card and my trip has ended.
I am wondering if I get this exchanged or fixed.

    What a waste

Thank You Apple for granting me the privilege of moving photos to my iPad. My android will connect to any computer and act like a portable hard rive. But this...THIS! This will let me move photos only. Wow. What a privilege. Can't move audio files to garage band. Can't move PDF files. Can't move anything but photos. It's genius. Now if it want to move audio files from my handheld recorder to my iPad, I have to go through my laptop. I guess I'll just cut out the middle man and do everything on my laptop. What a waste. Thank you for my $700 Facebook browser.

Very strange apple!! I have the same problem that lots of others seem to have !
My Ipad has never recognised either of the adapters,, even from new ! I have tried many different cards and two camera leads, and the best I have ever got was once it told me that the device drew too much power....
what happened to ' we don't want to ship rubbish products...' this is a very poor product attempting to overcome a distinct oversight in the design of the ipad.

First apple product I disliked, was not about it, and wished it had worked

Purchased this a a part of my road warriors kit that I felt wound make all the difference in storing my photos on the go and posting them online. Soon found that was not to be the case, as when I wanted to to use either the camera connection or the ad card slot, newer functioned as advertised. I exchanged them thinking it was perhaps a one off, but found the same issue with my next set, and simply returned them soon after. I have an abiding respect for most apple products but this one has not worked out as planned.

I tried using these out of the box, on my first gen ipad. Never once did my ipad open the photo app. It would not recognize my 2 Fuji cameras, or Flip video camera, Would not accept images off of a USB flash drive, saying the device "requires too much power", even on a 100% charge. I tried 2 separate SD cards. One got the response "may have corrupted files", and another that was perfectly functional showed no response at all. Unhappy with purchase.

Failed right out of the package

USB Adapter did not recognize my SD cards UNTIL I moved the SD card's "LOCK" switch to "LOCKED". Only then did iPad display a message: "Card May Be Damaged". Tried it with multiple SD cards.

CAMERA Adapter displayed this message: "Accessory not available, uses too much power". Huh? The camera battery was fully charged, my iPad was fully charged.

I'm taking it back to my friendly Apple store in Honolulu.

Don't spend your money on this!

I bought the connectioin kit and tried it with an SD card. It's fails with the message that the device is incompatible. With the SD in the camera then: it fails, it uses too much power. A usb thumb drive? It fails. a usb harddrive with it's own power? it fails, because the device uses too much power.
Don't buy it, it is useless.

Does NOT work with video camera

I bought this so I could directly download our dog show videos to the iPad for viewing. Says there is not enough power to run the device. Don't buy this if you want to download video direclty from the camera. Since that is the only thing I wanted to directly download to the iPad, it is pretty useless to me.

    Useless for CF cards

I have a DSLR camera and wanted to be able to download photos to my iPad but I can use any card readers cause it's says the reader draws to much power and I can't connect my camera directly because it's unsupported...why bother having this product if you can't even use it for USB devices. Incredibly disappointed and would not have purchased if I knew CF card readers weren't supported.

The connector kit was a great gadget for initially uploading 800+ photos from a sony cyber shot......until i wanted to repeat the process a few weeks later. I get an error message "device uses too much power" every time. I have plugged and unplugged the usb, camera and connector kit in every order possible multiple times to no avail. The ipad has been reset and the camera battery is fully charged and still nothing. What a waste.

I tried. The Genius Bar guys tried. The camera connection adapter does not make a connection between a DS 3100 and an iPad 2. I have to transfer photographs to my pc and then to the iPad 2. I hope that someone is working on this problem!
