    SD does not work

Purchased the Camera Kit mainly for the ability to import pdf, notes, and numbers files to my iPad. iPad would give a "The attached USB device is not supported." fault. I reformatted the SD card thinking that if there are PC files on the card it may have confused iPad, but no luck. I feel that I wasted my money.

Rubbish. I bought the camera exchange device for my ipad so I can load pictures onto my ipad but now can put them back on to a memory card or USB stick. Not very good for some one who is traveling. I never bought anything from apple until I bought this ipad. Big let down. Last time I buy an apple product

    Accessory Not Compatible

So much for ease of use. Not compatible with my iPhone 4S or the iPad third generation. I'd give it a zero rating if it were possible.

Adapter is good, but software could be so much more

    • Written by from Tomales

19 of 28 people found this useful

The adapter is decent for attaching a camera to an iPad. Should also make one to connect to the iPhone.

Huge software improvement would be to add an interface so that the camera can be controlled directly from the iPad or iPhone, especially adding a live view function (see what the camera sees on your device). It would turn iPhones and iPads into great tools for video shooting, since their resolution is so much better than a camera's LCD screen. Right now companies sell (Zacuto, SmallHD, etc.) LCD screens to attach to dSLR cameras for video shooting, charging $500-1000. Why not let us use the super hi resolution screens that we always carry around with us instead (i.e. iPhones and iPads)

Can't even get my SD card into the SD card reader!

I have a Canon Rebel camera that is 2 years old. The SD card does not even fit in the SD card reader - the opening on the SD card connection device is too small. Is it possible I received a defective camera connection kit? It seems strange that the SD card for one of the most common DSLR cameras out there can't even fit into the SD card reader.

Device not supported when connected to my Canon camera. When connected to my digital memory card reader device says it takes too much time. Was really hoping to use this with my IPad. Not surprised that it doesn't work.

Doesnt allow you to create folder names, error importing

Does not allow you to add the files to a specific folder you create. A problem when hoolking up my video camera, it thinks I am copying over the same files. It also seems to split the one set of files into mulltiple folders. Really needs some better software. It would not read the format of my .mp4 files (Sanyo Xacti) on the ipad.

Now that I need to import 1000's of photos from an SD card - that is recognized by a Win XP and Win 7 machine - it doesn't work in the new 64GB iPad.

I'm so fed up with this thing I may take it back.

. Can't download from my video cam, sd memory card (or any memory card for that matter), or my camera. These are a waste of money which wouldn't even allow me to transfer one single picture. NOT HAPPY and seriously never gonna buy any more apple stuff.

    Doesn't import video

I paid $45 for this piece of junk and it won't import videos. Thank you Apple for misrepresenting its capability.

I'm now in Europe and completely knackered because it is pointless now to shoot videos.

    It doesn't "just work"

I purchased the CCK to import photos. Needless to say after over 4 hours of researching why it won't work, I'm giving up and returning it. I've tried 4 different brands/sizes of SD cards to no success. They have all been formatted correctly. They all have the correct DCIM root folder with 8 figure names plus extension .jpg . The iPad 2 recognizes the reader. Put any of the cards in the slot... nothing. It doesn't just work. I've been a Mac fanatic since the 80s, but since the iOS reign, I must say that no, Mr. Jobs' ghost, it doesn't 'just work'.

    Useless accessories

    • Written by from Wethersfield

28 of 47 people found this useful

Useless accessories very restricted, only works between the camera and iPad if you transfer pictures from your computer to the SD card the iPad will not read the contains. I have a Sony Camera only uses a stick memory. I transferred the pictures from the camera to the computer than into a SD Card but the iPad will no read the contains, so before you by this accessories make sure your camera uses the SD Card and only pictures toke from the camera and saved into the camera SD card the iPad will read.

    Does't work!

Failed at first hurdle! Plugged the USB cable from my Leica D-Lux4 into my new iPad3 tWhich was faulty as well and ive just had it replaced at the Apple Shop!) my camera says chose Pictbridge or PC, it recognises the PC option and then informes me there are no photos to import...yet if I unplug everything, plug in the SD card reader plug and then insert the 2GB SD card from the same camera it immediately recognises it and lists all the pics on it! Odd! I had high hope for this kit, I'm hoping it doesn't let me down when I try it for the other main reason I bought the kit for, to connect it to a MIDI keyboard, don't feel confident, will update review again when I've had a go. May try it on my old iPad2, just for fun....I'm not holding my breath...my former confidence in Apple products is now shaky!!! Should have read these reviews first, far too many one star reviews!

    Not a user-friendly experience

    • Written by from Greenwich

I have attempted to use this over the course of a year. My experience is that my camera has difficulty establishing a connection to the iPad. Typically, when I plug the camera (most recently a Sony Cybershot DSC TX10, but previously a different Cybershot) into this port, the iPad does NOT recognize anything at all. Typically I end up having to pull the memory card and insert it directly into the iPad.

Part of the problem may be that I cannot charge either the camera or the iPad during the connection period because their charger ports are being used to make this connection. Nonetheless, that isn't a valid excuse for the process not to work. Essentially this problem reflects the limitations and design constraints of the iPad. Disappointing.

    Only worked once!

Bought the iPad3 specifically for loading my vacation photos through the SD card adapter so I wouldn't have to bring my laptop along. It only worked the first time I put a card in. I tried 6 different SD cards to see if the cards may have been the problem. Still nothing. It just doesn't get recognized. Now I have to make a trip to the Apple store, bringing my cards and computer with me, to see if they can figure out whats going on. What a pain!!! Seems others are having no issues. Wish that were me!
