    Worthless

    Neither the USB or SD connectors work with my or my wife's iPad2. The SD connector isn't recognized at all and when I tried to connect a flash drive using the USB connector I got a prompt that said the device used too much power and couldn't be supported. Total waste of money. Would give it zero stars if that were possible.

    It works but there is nothing amazing about it

    I can't believe I have to shell out another $35 for these. They are nothing more than external adapters to Apple proprietary connector. Nothing magical or amazing about them. If anything they are a nuisance because there are two more things to lug around and go missing when you really need them.

    Why a SD card reader and USB port not built into the iPad is beyond me. So you missed it with the original iPad. What's the excuse for not having it in the iPad 2 design?

    Does not work with Cannon Powershot

    This only worked the first time I connected the iPad 2 to camera usng the USB connector. After the first time, the iPad 2 does not detect the camera. I tried everything - charging up iPad, new batteries on camera, removing and replacing SD card on camera but nothing worked. I finally removed the SD card from the camera and used the other connector with the SD card slot and it worked. My first Apple product and am disappointed that it cannot perform a simple operation.

    Worked great for the first 2 weeks and than, after we were on a tour and relied on the adapters, both of them stopped working. Very frustrating and disappointing.

    I have tried the one connector to connect to the ipad 2 and then slip in the SD card. It says my card is damaged but when I plug the card into the computer, the pictures are just fine.

    I tried using the other connector to connect to the iPad 2 and then put in the san disk connector with disk card, it tells me that the device uses too much power.

    I tried using the usb cables that cane with my camera to hook into the iPad 2, again, nothing happens.

    I strike out in all cases. What a waste of time and money.

    I bought this item I am very disappointed. I can"t get it to work keep tilling me too much power, this his a ripoff by apple i am taking it back......

    No exporting!!!!

    The device works well for importing but unfortunately there is no way of exporting. What's the use of something which does half the job.

    Pretty frustrating.

    I spend 45 minutes in Apple store and they did make to work only for sd card but not for camera getting message device use to much power and for SD card I had create folder DCIM and transfer photos in that folder(using computer) to much trouble I was very disappointed and I returned conectors back in the store

    Useless accessories

    Useless accessories very restricted, only works between the camera and iPad if you transfer pictures from your computer to the SD card the iPad will not read the contains. I have a Sony Camera only uses a stick memory. I transferred the pictures from the camera to the computer than into a SD Card but the iPad will no read the contains, so before you by this accessories make sure your camera uses the SD Card and only pictures toke from the camera and saved into the camera SD card the iPad will read.

    Only has basic functionality, stay away..

    Must admi o being really disappointed with this kit. I'm far from being a decent photographer but I like taking pics on my Nikon d40.

    Now importing images via the sd/USB slot works perfectly for me. Viewing those images with Apple's own photo app again great.

    Now as soon as I fire up a 3rd party app such Adobe's PS Express, Tiltshift and Camera Bag the images are corrupt, majorly pixelated and sometimes displays just a thumbnail.

    So working with raw images imported direct from camera does not work! Pics imported as jpeg will work. Transferring raw images from iTunes which simply defeats the whole purpose of the camera kit works. What gives Apple?

    If you have a point and shoot, or happy to fire in jpeg mode then go for it.. Raw, stay away.

    The camera connection kit used to work with my Nikon via the USB connection. BUT since various software updates to the iPad, I now get a message stating: The connected storage media may be damaged, every time I try to connect the camera to the iPad camera connection kit via USB. Extremely disappointed with this Apple product. I have a device that is now useless. What a wait of money.

    I see lots of posts that say this worked great, but I tried to import photos to my iPad2 from an SD card and nothing happened. The instructions say just to plug in the adapter and insert the SD card and there you go, photos. For me....nothing.

    Flip Video recorder won't work

    I bought this product expecting to be able to download video from my Flip video camera. No dice. I get an error message saying that the accessory (the Flip video) requires too much power, and therefore cannot be connected.

    Used to work until iOS update

    I was able to import pics from my Canon XSi until I updated iOS on my iPad. Now this product no longer works. I feel cheated. STAY AWAY

    I bought this thinking that I can transfer photos from my computer to my ipad via SD card more easily without going through itunes since it always require making extra folders and messing up my own organizational scheme. Like in the case of a previous reviewer, this dumb adapter only allows transfer of photos that is saved DIRECTLY from your camera, NOT your computer. Why make this restriction when it is completely UNNECESSARY! I have so many photos that I want to transfer to my ipad without messing with itunes. Thus, I am returning this product as soon as possible! DO NOT buy this product unless you're thinking of really just transferring photos straight from your camera, nothing else.

    Useless because of Apple’s control issues

    This did not work the way I expected please read. I purchased this for my wife because she wanted an easy way to import pictures to her iPad without going through iTunes. I guess it is not the connector’s fault but rather Apple’s control issues. Apple has written their software to ignore any photo not saved to the SD card by a camera. This means we can’t save photos from my computer to the SD card and import them to the iPad. The only way is through iTunes. I first have to move the photos from my computer to her computer (where iTunes is) and then use iTunes to import the photos. Why on earth did Apple disable the ability to import photos saved to SD cards by anything other than cameras? I did find I can trick it to import the images if I rename the photos using the same naming schema as my camera uses. Extra work I am not willing to do. I don’t understand why Apple would do this. They actually had to do extra programming to make the app work or “not work” as the case is. I am returning this product tomorrow! Apple please grow up and let your customers use products they way they want and not the way you want them to use your products.

    Terrible - crippled by the new updates

    So, what to say?

    Whenever I connect my powered camera through the USB reader to the iPad, it works fine.
    However, whenever I plug in the SD card reader, nothing. I get a message saying "The connected USB device requires too much power."
    And that's the end of that.

    After a bit of reading up online, I found that this is a common problem - caused by the 3.2+ upgrades, which reduced the power output from 100mAh to a measly 20mAh, which basically makes it unusable unless you want to use up your camera's battery.
    This is the only Apple product I've ever been disappointed with, and I hope it doesn't happen again.
    Apple, if you're going to sell us a camera connection kit, we want to be able to connect our cameras to it! So is this how it works now? Just sell us something for £50 then release an upgrade which makes the iPad not want to recognise it anymore. Cheers for that

    Doesn't work for Compact Flash cameras or card readers

    I bought this intending to use my iPad on my upcoming trip to download, view, and email pictures while on the road. My camera is a Canon 20D which uses a Compact Flash card. When I tried connecting my USB CF card reader to the iPad, the iPad said that the device drew too much power and wasn't allowed. I then tried plugging in my Cannon 20D in via a USB connection cable and the iPad said the device wasn't supported. I'll be returning the kit to Apple.

    Apple, either allow other devices to work, or call it the "Apple iPad SD Camera Connection Kit".

    Why does feature no longer work?

    This always worked great. I would connect my camera to Ipad 1 with a USB cable and it would open the download app and zip right into the Ipad. I just upgraded to version 4.3 and now it does not work at all. When I connect my camera the same way I always did nothing happens. I can no longer download pictures from my Olympus digital camera to my Ipad. My camera does not use SD cards. It uses XD. It looks like I'm out of luck. Come on Apple why do you change things that worked to the same things that no longer work?
