    Works Great!!

Almost didn't buy this product based on some of the reviews and complaints, but was traveling abroad and needed a solution to backup all my photos. Apple has never let me down and this time was no different. This product works great for both my iPad 3 and my iPhone 4; worked the first time out and I couldn't be happier. Have only used the USB connection thus far (with my Canon 50D and iPhone 4) and works like a charm. Completely happy with this product and would recommend.

    Thanks Apple!

iPad camera connection does not work!

As many have found out, this is a highly buggy interface. It does not work on a standard Canon point and shoot camera Powershot SD850. It also does not work on two of my Nikon cameras.

Mechanically, this connection is a piece of junk. It is flimsy, and keeps coming out.

I doubt Apple will do anything to fix this, but here's hoping.....

After reading some of the reviews I was a little leary of placing my order, but the camera conncection kit is exactly what I was looking for to round out my iPad use. Decided to go for it and if it didn't work, send it back. Just got the camera connection kit and tried the camera memory card, then the camera cable. Both worked like magic. I know I'll get a lot of use from this little kit. Thank you Apple!!

Almost everything I connected to it I got the message that the USB device requires too much power!!!! I'm simply trying a an 8gb USB stick... Not a fridge

Based on my research, i found that this was done on purpose by apple. Apparently before the power restriction this waste of my money was quite useful. I need to be able to connect a USB stick otherwise there is no need for the USB port.... Don't sell it if it's useless

Adapter is good, but software could be so much more

The adapter is decent for attaching a camera to an iPad. Should also make one to connect to the iPhone.

Huge software improvement would be to add an interface so that the camera can be controlled directly from the iPad or iPhone, especially adding a live view function (see what the camera sees on your device). It would turn iPhones and iPads into great tools for video shooting, since their resolution is so much better than a camera's LCD screen. Right now companies sell (Zacuto, SmallHD, etc.) LCD screens to attach to dSLR cameras for video shooting, charging $500-1000. Why not let us use the super hi resolution screens that we always carry around with us instead (i.e. iPhones and iPads)

Wasted a lot of time with the iPad Camera Connection Kit CD reader until I read
Written by Janneke K from Emmen May 15, 2012

Now it works with the folder called DCIM with JPG photo files with exactly 8 characters.

This needs to be added to the documentation.

Thank you to Janneke K from Emmen because Apple docmentation was of no help.

Overpriced and underperforming. Direct camera connection won't work with any of my cameras. Apparently it draws too much power. Obviously I should have heeded the reviews and not bought this product as majority of purchasers experiencing similar problems. More obviously the folks at Apple should read the reviews and correct the problem. I didn't return it, just threw it out. Will not buy anything from Apple in the future

I love this gadget. I went digital about 12 years ago and have a number of full SD cards (they're also on a back up drive). I can finally share photos with ease on Facebook, upload them quickly from my camera while on vacation, along with anyone else's photos. No more lugging a laptop around on vacation. Yeah Apple!

    Why not include the iPhone

This little device is great to travel with. We use it all the time with our iPads. I really don't understand why Apple doesn't make it iPhone compatible. I have wished many times that I could import directly to my iPhone when I don't have my iPad.

This is just what I needed for traveling with my iPad. As a photographer lighter is better and now I don't need to drag my MacBook around. It worked perfectly - just plug it in, insert your SD card, select the photos you want, and click import. This is great for downsizing your travel gear.

Attached the USB adapter to my iPad, attached camera USB, turned camera on and voila photos transferred! No fuss at all. Transfereed 109 HD pictures in under two minutes. Couldn't ask for a better result.

Loaded photos from the following cards/cameras:

    Sandisk 2GB SD - Lumix DMC-TZ3

Sandisk Extreme III SD HC 8GB - Lumix FZ35

    Sandisk Extreme III SD HC 8GB 30 MB/s Edition - Nikon D90

In all cases it showed all the photos on the card, let me choose which ones (or all) to import, and let me choose whether to delete the ones I imported.

    Simple - worked for me.

Will not work with many card readers ("device needs too much power"). Will not work with Canon Digital Rebel XT ("device not supported"). Easy interface when it works, but it is too simple and too limited (cannot define rolls or albums). Good for moving photos from iPhone to iPad for better visibility.

I never write reviews for things, so at least I now know how cross I need to be before I do so! I selected the more expensive Apple-branded product over the much cheaper versions, as I stupidly assumed it would be more likely to work.

I've just wasted the past few hours of my busy life trying to get the SD attachment or the USB connector to work with anything. It doesn't. I've tried files and photos, different SD cards, the camera lead versus a USB stick, etc. etc. I wish I'd read one of these reviews before bothering, as by a strange coincidence I too am running the new OS.

Very disappointed with you, Apple - I won't be buying any more of your expensive accessories. Would have picked 0 stars if that had been possible.
