Worthless and no help from Apple!!!

    • Written by from Montclair

iPad sees the photos on SD card and attempts to transfer them, but all transfers fail. These are JPG images created on a Nikon D800 Camera. I have tested the SD card and am able to transfer and/or read the card on other devices with no problem. Apple offers no help but a Google search came up with a comment that suggests the problem may the file name format.

    misinformed

    • Written by from Weston

I bought this from Target a couple of weeks ago and just got around to using it. I was under the impression from Target, Best Buy, and Walmart that this product would work if I plugged it straight into my iPhone 4s (without an iPad). I wanted a way to put pictures on my iPhone easier (without a computer or tablet) and was told by employees at all stores that this would work for what I was wanting. Well they were wrong. iPad is the only one that supports the plug ins, then you can plug your iPhone or camera into that. I was not told any of this and got my hopes up for nothing :( I will be returning it because it did not serve its purpose for me.

Just an idea for Apple, please inform all retailers (online and instore) of what your products will/won't do. Also, it would be awesome if you did make one of these camera connection kits for the iPhone 4/4s (and previous models) or make this one compatible with the iPhone without an iPad. Just an idea.. Hope this helps anyone else who may be mislead by what is stated on other retailers websites or what they are told instore.

    Does not support Canon S40

    • Written by from Riverview

I get error message "usb device not supported" when I connect my Canon S40 digital camera, and memory card is too large for card reader. Anyone aware of software that will support this camera on IPad 3?

Device not supported when connected to my Canon camera. When connected to my digital memory card reader device says it takes too much time. Was really hoping to use this with my IPad. Not surprised that it doesn't work.

Error message 'device using too much power'

I am trying to connect a Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo card reader and the iPad is telling me the device uses too much power. How is this possible... Returning the device today since connecting other devices is not possible either.

Does not work with Canon Rebel XT

    • Written by from Hamburg

The Camera Connection Kit does not work with my Canon Rebel XT. Received error message: This USB Device is not supported. Really?! Rather useless product if it does not work with a very common camera type. Cannot use SD adapter, as Canon uses CF card format. Wish I read the product reviews before buying.

    Accessory Not Compatible

So much for ease of use. Not compatible with my iPhone 4S or the iPad third generation. I'd give it a zero rating if it were possible.

    USB A DUD!!!

    • Written by from Sugarloaf

Can't work with a Canon 5D Camera. The iPad iOS 5 (current system) has "NO" software support. It would be nice if Apple would provide a camera list of camera's that it does work with. The first failure of an Apple product since 1987 for me. They should just sell the SD Connector only. Since USB is not supported.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Duluth

Was so excited that the kit came in time for me to use on a trip to the Minnesota Zoo.

Got into the car after a day of picture-taking, plugged it into my iPad2, plugged in the SD reader and my card ... nothing.

Wiggled and unplugged and replugged and the only sign my iPad was even reading it was once when a brief message popped up announcing that "this accessory wasn't compatible with my device." The rest of the time, the iPad didn't even read/acknowledge it was plugged in.

I hope (?!) this is just a case of one defective product and not that it doesn't work at all ... as it is, returning something is always a big hassle and childishly, I am really disappointed.

    Ipad Camera Connection Kit

    • Written by from GRAHAM

Purchased one from Apple store just a few days ago. Took it back the next day. I have an Ipad 3 and when I connected my HP camera (nothing fancy and not a new camera) to the camera kit, message said, usb device did not have enough power. So for me it was useless. Might be a good idea if the customer could know in advance, that not all cameras will work using the Connection Kit.

    The USB connector doesn't work

    • Written by from Toronto

with most cameras if they are what apple people call 'consumer' cameras, i.e. most cameras unless you have digital SLRs. The connector works with the memory card within camera but have to take out card to insert which defeats purpose of being able to directly connect camera to iPad. Basically, loser connection and I feel the lable of product 'Camera Connection Kit" and user guide included is misleading.

    Useless.

    • Written by from Auburn

The USB connector doesn't support card readers that must draw power from the device, and you can't plug your iPad in because the connector is plugged in where you connect your power cable. Apple, it's ludicrous not to have a USB port on the iPad.

The SD card connector will not recognize images that are not 8 characters long and in a labeled DCIM folder, which means SD cards from cell phones and other devices will not be supported, unless you reformat the card on a laptop first.

These are expensive accessories with extremely limited use. Don't buy until you know if they'll perform the functions you require.

So I too have fallen victim to blindly buying an Apple product on the assumption that it would without question function as intended but instead I get an unwelcome error message about not having enough power when I try to use this device. In short this kit is a uselss waste of money!

Is there anything this kit does work on or any way to get around this problem? Please help!

    Does't work!

    • Written by from CARDIFF

Failed at first hurdle! Plugged the USB cable from my Leica D-Lux4 into my new iPad3 tWhich was faulty as well and ive just had it replaced at the Apple Shop!) my camera says chose Pictbridge or PC, it recognises the PC option and then informes me there are no photos to import...yet if I unplug everything, plug in the SD card reader plug and then insert the 2GB SD card from the same camera it immediately recognises it and lists all the pics on it! Odd! I had high hope for this kit, I'm hoping it doesn't let me down when I try it for the other main reason I bought the kit for, to connect it to a MIDI keyboard, don't feel confident, will update review again when I've had a go. May try it on my old iPad2, just for fun....I'm not holding my breath...my former confidence in Apple products is now shaky!!! Should have read these reviews first, far too many one star reviews!
