It works with iPad mini and lightning to 30-pin kit

    • Written by from Alameda

I used this with my iPad 3 and it worked wonders.
I got the iPad mini and used it with my Lightening to to 30-pin adapter with both the SD card and USB adapter and it works mostly like a charm. The SD card had no issues, but with the USB cable. I had to get a 6" USB cable to work with my camera. I used to be able to use my 12" and above USB cable with no issues. Now it shows that it is drawing too much power. I also used to be able to use my Sandisk USB thumb drive, but same issue now. Overall it serves its purpose and I don't have to now buy two separate Lightening adapters for $30 a piece! I can use my old 30-pin USB cables with the $30 Lightening to USB adapter and the 30-pin camera kit for $30. I hope they don't remove this option in future software/hardware updates.

Side note, thank you Apple for finally bringing the Lightening to Micro USB port adapter. But $19... Wish you brought the 30-pin to Micro USB port adapter to the States.

Better Off With Photo Transfer App

    • Written by from Bedford

This kit only works with a few of my SD cards and will not work with any USB flash drive or USB card reader. It also limits which photos can be transferred and does not allow you to name folders. I find the Photo Transfer App in the Apple app store which allows WiFi transfers to be far superior at a small fraction of the price.

    Camera connection kit

    • Written by from Warrington

This product does not work!!!! Have gone through ALL the turning off/resetting etc etc etc on iPad.....Nada!

Are Apple listening to their customers, or do we have to put up with being sold inferior products?

I could not post this review until I rated the product, I didn't want to, but had to give it one star!

    Why not include the iPhone

    • Written by from Pioneer

This little device is great to travel with. We use it all the time with our iPads. I really don't understand why Apple doesn't make it iPhone compatible. I have wished many times that I could import directly to my iPhone when I don't have my iPad.

    Camera Connection Kit works great!

    • Written by from PLANO

I was also worried about whether I should purchase this, due to the bad reviews, but after reading the post from "Balazs L" from Seattle, I decided to pull the trigger. I tested it on the Canon 20D (in Menu -> Communication -> PTP mode) and Canon PowerShot SD780 IS and the new iPad and it works flawlessly. Each camera was connected directly to the new iPad and I did not use a card reader. Great product and I will not be taking my Macbook Pro on vacation; just the cameras and the new iPad.

    Great For Photography!

    • Written by from Reno

I love this adapter! It's very useful during photo shoots both in the studio and on location and I dont need to carry my laptop to the shoots. I shoot in RAW format and my iPad is still able to import the photos and I can review the shots with the models, staff, crew members with ease.

I'm also able to text the photos to staff members or clients when im out scouting for a location. I can definitely take advantage of photo apps without having to download my photos into the computer first then uploading them into my iPad.

This is definitely a useful tool to add to your camera bag.

    Considered returning it, BUT....

    • Written by from La Mirada

I bought the kit today and I LOVE iT - well, after tinkering with it and reading reviews. Hooked up nikon coolpix using USB cable at first, it didn't work. "too much power." moved on to sd card slot, worked like a charm! Wondering if apple would refund me $14.50 for the non-working USB connector, I perused reviews and was disappointed until one reviewer mentioned turning off his camera's "auto transfer something-something." Aha! "too much power! " so I went to my camera settings, turned off "auto charge through computer" and voilà! The kit is a keeper.

    Not compatible with card reader

    • Written by from Knoxville

I wanted to transfer jpegs from memory card reader but when I plugged it into this adapter it said used too much power and could not be done. My camera uses a memory card that is too large for the built in slot. This was very disappointing since I now can't add photos easily.

    Not working

    • Written by from NEW YORK

I bought this to use with my iPad and it never worked. For some reason it does not read any USB camera connection nor the memory stick.
Worse thing I have ever bought and I am an apple fan and love all the devices I have.

    Camera connection kit

    • Written by from Weatherly

We have both the iPad and iPad2. The camera connection kit SD adapter works plug and play on iPad, but not on the iPad2. Still looking for the solution, but nothing yet. It is advertised to work on both.

This is a camera connection. NOT a USB port

    • Written by from Birmingham

I got the kit hoping for a non-network and non iTunes way of getting data into my ipad 2. Well it is not USB. It does allow you to transfer pictures from your camera or SD camera card. That is what it is advertised to do. So if that is all you want or need, it should be sufficient.

However, even if you want to transfer non-camera pictures, you'll be in trouble. The ipad2 software is not just looking up a specific directory for photos, it is inspecting the picture. So if this is a photo you retouched or just another picture you like, it will not transfer. I haven't gone to the point of altering the EXIF data to see if that would allow the transfer.

You just get to a point where you have to ask if you should have spent less and got the other guys table instead.

BTW I was asked today at work to show off my ipad2. When asked if I would recommend its use at work. (I use it to take notes. not much else) I said they should consider some other brand. Why? Connectivity. (Apple you really need to get that USB fixed.)

I love my camera connection kit. I use both the USB and SD Card connectors and they work flawlessly! They're perfect for when I'm on a photo shoot and I can show my clients the photos right away on my iPad. Plus, they're super compact so I can just throw them in my camera bag with my iPad and I'm ready to go!

2 Adapter for one price, that work

    • Written by from San Diego

1 for SD card reading into iPhoto, and another to USB connect your Camera to the iPad. Either way you can have success, but I prefer the SD Card reader so I don't need to bring along another USB cable to connect the camera.

I have an 8GB SD card from San DIsk that works just fine. I like checking out pictures on the iPad before I download them to my iMAC. I like this to enable better selections, and to share with friends faster.

    Waste of money

I, like many before me thought this accessory would be great. Alas, it does not work with my Canon camera. A complete waste of money, such a shame as it could make life much easier.

according to its specs, this should work with both my Nikon and Canon cameras. it works on the Nikon sometimes, and the Canon never. if it won't import automatically, and there is no import command, what am I supposed to do? very frustrating.

    iPad camera adapter

    • Written by from Stanton

I just received my connectors and plugged in my Nikon D80 and Nikon D700 to my iPad and was able to download all of my photos to my iPad and I use the NEF mode (RAW) and it let me still view all of my pics.
This is a great tool for my photography since now I can download my cards and view my pics immediately.

    Camera connection kit

    • Written by from Hazel Green

Bought this kit to upload pics from my trail camera. Worked great the first time I used it, but since I upgraded to IOS8.1 it has stopped working. So I tried my wife's Ipad with older operating system and it worked. So obviously since going to newer operating system it has caused the kit not to wok. Kind of a scam if they keep changing the operating system and each time they do the accessories quit working.

I am rating this product high because it was great when it was compatible with my IPad
