    "Not Recognized Device"

Tried using this to snag images off my Canon 5D and got that error message. Total waste of money. Anything camera related with Apple tends to be (unless it's the camera on your 4s). Pretty frustrating.

Bought a camera connection kit and discovered it will not work with the original iPad. I received a refund for the kit after the techs at the local Apple store could not make it work either.

I can't save anything on SD card, Not every digital camera works with this device. it's read only solution (when it works). I can't understand why is so difficult to install a SD card slot?!

Apple! Please listen to your customers and accommodate what they request. They are the people who pay you hard earned money.

No CF option - not useful to me

To provide a SD option for the masses is fine but if you use a high end camera, you are most likely to have a CF (compact flash) card. My Nikon is such a camera. I was looking at purchasing an IPad to replace the Dell laptop that I carry around to download my pictures on. Well, the IPad is not an option. I have an IPhone and an IMac and am now stuck with a Dell Windows PC for now. When that goes my option will be anything but an IPad because the CF card is not supported. That is disturbing as I am an Apple convert and was really looking forward to dumping my PC for a more elegant solution.

    Which cameras work?

I decided to treat myself to an iPad and new camera - a nice portable Nikon, I was assured at the Apple Store that yes this was the kit I needed, then reality struck...I had no luck in getting the iPad to acknowldge the camera and then somehow it did and I was told it consumed too much power...and ???
Apple should inform us which camera's can work, this is a real shortcoming of the iPad and Apple just seem to want to hide it.

    Not working at all

I received my IPAD2 as a gift at Xmas... bought the camera kit, plugged in the SD card from my GOPRO... nothing. That's right nothing at all happens... tried a different SD Card... again, NOTHING... so now I'm off the the Apple Store to get the IPAD checked out? I would think that APPLE would have checked all of the IPAD functions before boxing this thing up for shipment. Isn't that called quality control? or is it out sourcing? BAD karma APPLE!!!!

    1/2 worked once

The USB worked for 1/2 my pictures the first time and then never again. Real pain as I thought it worked and wasted a whole weekend trying to get it working again. Really makes the Ipad2 useless.

    One way only!

Beware, this kit allows one way transfers only from the SD card to the iPad. For this it works just fine. However, I want to select certain photos from my iPad and transfer to the SD card that I use in my digital picture frame at work, but it WILL NOT DO IT! C'mon Apple, open up two way communication here!

It works great but the problem is getting them off the IPad to print the pictures
It should go both ways I have one IPad but will be looking at another manufacturer.

    Rendered useless by Apple

    • Written by from Peristeri, Athens

98 of 118 people found this useful

    1) Cannot move photos FROM the ipad TO the camera/sd card
    2) Imported photos show up allover the place, no possibility to organise them, and cannot be deleted from a single location. Mercy!
    3) Photos dropped into the sd card cannot be read on the ipad 2. ONly photos recorded by a camera.
    4) USB sticks won't work, as the power supply is very very limited

Apple, give us all a break and make the ipad more useful to us photographers by correcting all of the above. Then, I might consider rating higher than one star.

    Even worse than I expected

    • Written by from Woodford Green

No official instructions and it turned out to be just another Apple control rip-off, overpriced and does not work; what's worse you don't know it won't work until you've paid for it because neither the box nor any Apple publication on the web tell you of its limitations. I bought it hoping to effortlessly transfer files to and from my iPad, of course this is not possible except in very specific circumstances. I'd be happy with it if I could just upload photos from my memory stick or camera, but this is not possible unless I create specific subdirectories and use a very low powered USB stick. Too much faffing around. The UI is bad enough with the iPad, despite what Apple believe, but the camera connection kit is possibly the worst consumer experience I've ever had. Is it too much to ask that I can use my iPad on the move to show my photos to friends or shall we continue to have to squint at the 2" display on my camera?

Like everyone else - not being able to use an external USB device - because of a power issue is totally unacceptable Apple.

Ps my camera memory card is not compatable either

No Longer Works to Transfer Photos - Apple Diasbled Functionality

    • Written by from Burlingame

89 of 98 people found this useful

Apple lowered the max power a camera kit connected USB device can draw, such that no USB memory stick will now work. Further, if you drop JPEGs onto a camera SD Card, they won't be recognized and read either. I create JPEGs from RAW for better image quality but they are not read by the iPad. Only images stored by the camera. In essence, the kit is useless.
