    Easy to use!

Just tried this for the first time with my smaller Nikon coolpix and also with my canon rebel t2i DSLR. The connector worked fast and easy for both cameras. Great buy!

    What?

    • Written by from EAGAN

I just bought the camera connection kit and plugged it in as described in the instructions. A message came on the iPad screen indicating there was not enough power. This is a fully powered iPad. Not indicating there isn't enough space.....very confused and about to turn around and return the dumb thing.

    Limited

    • Written by from Buenos Aires

Apple changed the output power from 100ma to 20ma so I cannot use many devices attached to it.

Also assuming it works, it's functionality is really limited.

I hope apple does something with this.

    Did now doesn't

    • Written by from SAN ANTONIO

This was a great tool .Both the sd and the usb worked well until recently.
One of my cameras uses a compact flash card which I connected to a card reader and the USB dongle. I no longer can transfer because suddenly too much power is required!!!
If it worked originally, it should keep working in subsequent software updates or it seems like a breach of contract to pull the capability away.
    Please restore how this works.
    Thank you

    Not worth it

    • Written by from McHenry

I was hoping to be able to use this for a jump drive (Memory stick, Thumb drive whatevever you like to call it) so that I could put movies on it and take them with me as I travel a lot for work and don't want to have to take my computer with me as well. Jumb drives don't work, and if the memory card isn't formated for a camera (used in a camera) it won't read the card. This is the first Apple product I am truly dissapointed with. I guess I'll have to make sure I have the movies I want with me, iCloud only has 5gb of free storage and I don't feel like paying yearly for more, unless I have no other option...

Better Off With Photo Transfer App

    • Written by from Bedford

This kit only works with a few of my SD cards and will not work with any USB flash drive or USB card reader. It also limits which photos can be transferred and does not allow you to name folders. I find the Photo Transfer App in the Apple app store which allows WiFi transfers to be far superior at a small fraction of the price.

    Worked for Me

    • Written by from Kennewick

I have a first gen iPad and an older Sony camera, went on a trip with both but only 128 MB worth of storage in the camera. Finally found a place that sold the CCK, hooked it up via the USB cable and got the "USB device not supported" message. Frustrated to say the least. Found a post on the Apple customer reviews for the CCK about changing the camera download setting to "PTP", so I did that and it worked just fine. Seems like Apple could have made that a little clearer in the rather skimpy instructions.

It worked with a 16gb SDHC class 10 card but doesn't work with a 64gb SDXC class 10 card. For the 64 gb card it keeps saying it cannot read the contents of the card eventhough all my pictures have 8 characters in them and are in a folder called DCIM.

    Convenient and underpowered

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Cannot power a simple card reader. Otherwise it can connect easily to self-powered devices. If you have a powered USB hub, carry that around with you, too. That kind of makes the elegance of this device disappear.

    DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!

    • Written by from Briarcliff Manor

I'm extremely disappointed! I got this for my birthday and though oh great I can upload photos easy without going through syncing and stuff. WRONG! I used it once and what happens? My photo library with all the photos I've already imported from my PC are gone. I can't find them. So I tried reimporting my photo library the old fashion way... I got half photos and not even all of them. I got 12photos out of the 400 I imported and some of them were half photo half white screen. This is a rip off dont buy this.

works for new iPad and my Canon cameras!

    • Written by from Los Altos

The reviews of this Kit are very mixed, so I was concerned. I'm happy to report that the iPad Camera Connection Kit (MC531ZM/A) worked for my equipment: new iPad, Canon S100 camera, and Canon 40D camera. Note that this is the new kit that doesn't have a USB cable.

The S100 has a 32 GB SD card. The iPad read the SD card both in the Kit card reader and in the camera. I used a USB cable (USB to mini USB) to read directly from the S100 and 40D. No problems. The iPad saw both JPEG and RAW files from both cameras. The 40D has a CF card. I tried using a CF card reader with a USB connection, but the iPad complained, saying that the CF reader took too much power.

I deducted a star because I had to use my USB-to-mini-USB cable to read directly from the cameras.

    Great for SDHC

    • Written by from Fairfield

This connection kit has worked really well with my iPad 3, though it does not work with your iPhone. That was a little disappointing.

But to any photographers, if you use a SDXC card, this connection kit will not work. I was really disappointed because I have a 64gb SDXC card with my Nikon D7000, and the SD card reader won't read it. But if you do connect the camera via the USB connection, you can pass your photos that way through your iPad.

    Works with Canon t4i

    • Written by from Westport

I almost would not have bought the kit based on all the reviews stating it does not work with the current iPad. I called customer service and asked if she can find out if it works with the Canon Ti series. She told me she has a canon rebel herself and it works for her - so I bought it and it does work on the iPad running 5.1.1: connect the USB cable to camera, fire it up and the photo software starts automatically. You can now select, download and delete. When done- just disconnect.

Works well on standard SD cards but it won't read my new 64 GB Extreme Pro 95 MB/s SDXC card for my NEX-7 with the card reader or the USB connector. Come on Apple you can do better. You are supposed to be on the forefront of technology.

Please release a new CCK supporting the latest technology available.

I almost didn't by this because of the reviews here. However I bought it and they work just fine. I have an Extreme 8gb Sandisk card that unloaded with no problems whatsoever. The other adapter worked fine as well. I highly recommend this product.
