    Perfect accessory for photographers

    • Written by from Houston

I recently used the Camera Connection Kit to upload over 800 photos to my iPad2. It took very little time and worked flawlessly. One of the best buys I've made and perfect for any photographer.

    Useful, no fuss, and small

    • Written by from Phoenix

I have owned the Connection Kit for a few months now. The USB interface has turned out to be more universal than the SD card interface. My camera can be accessed with both but I prefer to pop out the SD card because there is no fumbling with a cable and plug. But recently, while on vacation, I wanted to transfer pictures from other cameras and they used an xD card. I did not have a cable so was dead in the water. Yesterday I bought a USB-A to both mini-B and micro-B cable from iGo. This adapter is about the same size as one of the interfaces so is a nice match. I know there are still cameras that don't use a standard USB plug but I am closer to universal access now.

In all cases that I have used these interfaces with SD cards and cameras, they simply work. When tried on my iPod touch 4th generation or with other USB devices, I get an error message. Fair enough.

    Take on vacation

    • Written by from Washington

I just took this little connector on vacation and it was amazing. Photos straight from camera to pad (thus freeing up the camera memory) and then straight from pad to flickr (freeing up the pad memory). Invaluable addition to the trip!

    Handy, especially when traveling

    • Written by from Blue Island

I love my original iPad and use it constantly for work and play. I don't know how I did without it before. I also happen to travel a lot. I invested in these little handy gizmos for a recent 4 week vacation where I was planning on taking a lot of photos.

The adapter is just what I needed and I continue to use it regularly (note: I only use one of these, since it fits both of my cameras memory cards). I'm able to download all of my daily photo images into my iPad, freeing up memory space in my camera. I also get the benefits of being able to view and edit my recent photos on the large, gorgeous iPad screen. Finally, I can easily upload and share photos with family and friends, to Facebook, to Flickr, etc. via my iPad.

Be aware that these are small adapters, and in the case of my Kodak Easyshare Touch camera, the micro SD card is freakin' microscopic and requires an adapter that came with the SD card. You need to take care to not lose anything when working with them! I keep everything in a small cloth bag that floats around in the bottom of my purse when I travel.

All in all, a great tool for getting the job done.

p.s. Works great with 3 different Kodak cameras and also with my old Olympus.

Works with digital Canon EOS Rebel XTI

    • Written by from Mattawan

Just bought this and tried it out. The USB works great with my Canon digital camera. However, the SD card reader does not. The SD card for this camera is too large.

Downloading them was simple. All I had to do was plug it in, turn on my camera and the iPad automatically brought up the Photo app. I chose the pics I wanted and pressed import, and there they were!

Would have loved to be able to use the SD card reader, but I'm okay with just using the USB. Great product!

    Works Great, but......

    • Written by from Shannonville

In response to comments from HL from Corona I like to mention that I experienced the same problem at first. You won't be able to import any pictures you renamed into another format. I imported pictures to my iPad - some of them imported and some not. The second time it wouldn't work either because I had only the renamed pictures left on the sd card. Then I found out that I couldn't import any pictures that I had renamed (like IMG_263 into Vacation2011). When you rename these pictures back to their original format, you will be able to import them.
    Try it.

Canon 40D + USB Connection - Transfers photos to iPad easily!

    • Written by from Bellflower

Was skeptical at first because I could not find a list of compatible cameras for this accessry. But I bought in a "crunch" situation and it worked 100%! 29.99 is a little high, but it does the job! In the package there are 2 pamphlets for product info and in one I noticed this on the bottom of page 4... "To see which cameras are compatible with the iPad Camera Connection Kit, go to: www(dot)apple(dot)com/support/ipad
    Hope this helps! Good luck!

Works great on Panasonic Lumix LX5

    • Written by from sugar land

Both adaptors work flawlessly when I connected my Lumix LX5 using the USB adaptor and when using the SD card adaptor. Very easy to use and it makes downloading pictures into a hard drive very easy. There are two choices, either import all pictures or import the selected pictures. There is also an option to delete the pictures after importing them to the ipad.

I read another person's review saying how the USB could be used for other devices other than the camera connection. I am slightly addicted to external hard drives so I tried connecting my WD portable hard drive and desktop external hard drive to the ipad and neither worked. Portable hard drive gave "too much power required" error and the desktop hard drive didn't even load up. I tried using a small flash drive but that didn't work either.

    Awesome! I love it.

    • Written by from Calgary

I have had the product for about a month and have no complaints. I have used it to pull images from my Canon 5D MkII, SD cards, an older Canon ELF and my IPhone 4 and they all worked great! It will copy the video from the 5D MkII but the iPad will not play it, however I read about that before hand and it's not a big deal.

On a recent camping trip I used it to pull pictures and video from the iPhone to the iPad so I could show everyone in our group. Needless to say that was pretty popular. I also used it to back up my images from the 5D as it copies raw (CR2) as well as JPEG files. It's much handier than hauling a laptop around. And, I saved the day when I accidentally formatted a memory card but luckily I had backed the images to the iPad earlier. Using a free piece of software called "iPhone Explorer" I easily copied the images from my iPad back to the computer.

    SD adaptor

    • Written by from Olympia

I purchased the camera adeaptor kit, plugged my camera chip into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor into the iPad and the system worked flawlessly. All the photos showed up on the screen -- selecting the ones to upload was simple, and uploading was no problem. I am totally impressed with ease of use and convenience of this adaptor.

    Works excellent with Sony Products

    • Written by from Orlando

I have Sony HD Camcorder, Sony HD Waterproof Camera and using this adapter was easy....plug and connect, download begins immediately on the iPad screen!!! A lot faster than booting up your computer...this way you don't need a computer..after it's done you can watch picture slide shows with your own music on the iPad or upload pics on FB! Love it!!!!! I'm planning on buying the HDMI connector for the iPad to the HD TV so I can play the slide shows on the Big Screen and watch it with my family after our trip to Disney and Universal!!!

    Best iPad accessory ever!

    • Written by from Silver Spring

This is the best gadget ever for avid photographers! I was looking for a convenient external hard drive to immediately transfer my photos rather than waiting to get back to my computer. My concern was making sure my memory card didn't get corrupted, lost, etc. Not only does this easily and quickly perform that function, but it provides automatic beautiful display of the photos! You can import some or all photos, delete some or all, etc. Well worth the price!

    iPad MUST have, for everyone

    • Written by from Lima

I am a musician, and iI bought this camera connection kit mainly because I just found ot that it can provide sounds to midi controllers, and I can actually do recordings with the GarageBand app from my full sized keyboard, instead of the digital keyboard of the app. It also works with many other USB devices such as typing keyboards, MIDI controllers, and...yeah well, cameras too. iPads should be selling with this thing on a package
