    Not compatible with SDXC cards

    • Written by from Wichita

Awesome product, but it is not compatible with SDXC cards. I am pretty disappointed that the 64gb SDXC card that I purchased is not compatible with this device, which I bought for my my new camera to use with the iPad 2. My SDHC cards do work with it, so I am happy about that, I just wish I had known that the SDXC card was not compatible because I wouldn't have purchased that card had I known that.

    Almost Perfect

    • Written by from prague

I purchased this kit for vacation to download my pics from camera to ipad. The one component to hook the camera directly to the ipad would not work. Guess it was not compatable. However the part to put the sd card in worked great. Only draw back is having to removed the sd card from camera to download and put it back in the camera. Was really not too big of a deal but sure it would have been quicker to just plug in and download. I did lose the sd card part while on vacation and missed it enough to run down and replace with another one since I have been home. Think it will be a necessity with the ipad. I have not tried to use it to download other types of files but plan on trying to move movies from computer to ipad with it when I can get the ipad away from my husband long enough. Wish they would sell these pieces separately too so when you do misplace or lose one you don't have to spend 30 bucks to buy it again.

Well... Apple should rename it "iPad SD Connection Kit"

    • Written by from La Canada

When I tried plugging in my Nikon D80 to my iPad 2 via. USB I got a pop-up saying the camera required too much power. I tried the SD reader adapter and It worked great. I still would not recommend it.

    Great product!

    • Written by from Diepenbeek

Bought this today and it's a great product. You'll get two adapters for the price of one and with the USB adapter you even can connect your iPhone to your iPad to import photos/videos. The only disadvantage of this is that you first need to import your photos/videos to watch them in full screen.

Great for journos on the run

    • Written by from Ottawa

I'm a journalism student and this camera kit works great on the go when I'm out with my iPad and have to download photos from my Nikon D90 on the fly. Just pop in the SDHC card and you're off to the races. Takes a few extra seconds to transfer RAW photos, but well worth it. I just wish this accessory kit worked on my iPhone 4 so I could check out my 12 mpx photos on a Retina Display moments after shooting.

    My first iPad disappointment

    • Written by from New York

So my rating doesn't match the title. Because the product is great, the iPad is the issue. I researched and checked supported formats because I wanted to take movies and photos from my Kodak Zi8 video camera. I imported (from the SD Card) but the movies won't play. They are in H.264 (MOV), AAC LC format and I can't do anything with them. The whole point was to not depend on a PC/Mac and file conversion software. Therefore, disappointed

    CF support

    • Written by from North Las Vegas

This works as advertised. Now for those who are complaining about no CF support, did you try connecting your card reader to the usb port? Okay now try it....happy now? BTW it was advertised as a camera (USB) and SD card reader kit, nowhere did it mention CF so why buy it? JW.

    Just what I wanted

    • Written by from Encinitas

Must admit that I bought the camera connection kit with trepidation after reading a lot of the reviews. But it works perfectly for what I wanted....the ability to download photos right from the SD card from my Panasonic Lumix camera. It will be perfect for traveling. And connecting my husband's iPhone worked great, too. The only thing that didn't work was the micro card from my Blackberry. But that would have just been a bonus!

    Great help from Apple Store

    • Written by from Enid

After reading all the negative reviews I was scared this wasn't going to work as I will use the ipad mainly for my photos. So I drove 90 miles to take my iPad, camera and computer to the store. They showed me how to upload to the iPad and then how to get them on my computer. It all worked great. Main difference may be I still have the 3.2 OS and will definitly not upgrade to 4.2. I only went 4 on the stars as there is always room for improvement in anything but it looks like it is going to be the ticket for me.

Rough start, then did the research

    • Written by from New Hope

I bought the camera connector kit for my iPad in order to sort through photos while traveling abroad. Took it to Spain in November and was highly disappointed because I could not get it to work with a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo. (I only tried the SD card reader connector.)

I decided to give it one more chance and did a little online research. It took me a while, but after a few tries, I got the connector to work by putting the memory card into a Lexar Memory Stick Duo adapter, sticking that into my USB card reader (Vivitar MS/MS-Pro Card Reader), and then using the USB interface conncetor. It all worked perfectly and I am now ready to use it for my next trip abroad in June!

Very useful to transfer from iPhone or camera.

    • Written by from Spring

I like this product!!! It allows me to transfer images from camera and iPhone, which is really great, because I don't have to connect and transfers via iTunes ;)

One more suggestion I would like to give Apple is to make face time for iPad. I mean if there is a away to connect iPhone to iPad, then there should be a away to use facetime on iPad. It would be great if iPad users can use facetime features, since, other venders are coming up with front facing camera on tablets. It would also be great to keep existing customers happy if Apple decides to come up with 2nd generation iPad. :)

Very Useful but needs Software Improvement

    • Written by from Roma

After importing your photos, you can't move them out of the "Imported Photos" folder, until you plug the iPad to iTunes. The photos app should allow you to select the album where you'd like to save the photos before importing them.

Great with cameras, so so with SD cards

    • Written by from San Jose

Works fine when connecting to a camera. I use it fine with my Nikon D70 and Olympus Stylus Tough 6000. Also works fine with my Sandisk 2GB SD card. However, when I tried it with the higher capacity Sandisk 4GB SDHC card, which is what most cameras use today, it says that it is not a supported USB device. So, if you plan on using it with any type of High Capacity SDHC card, think twice or get confirmation that it is compatible with your specific card first.

One other note is that when the 4GB SDHC card is in the camera and tethered using the USB adapter instead of the SD reader, it reads the card fine. It just takes away the convenience of being able to download your files without having to be tethered to a camera.

    Almost perfect...but

    • Written by from El Segundo

Works pretty much as advertised. Will import pictures directly off of my Sony CyberShot camera with the USB connector, but will not import the camera's videos: as videos are not stored in the DCIM folder. Even after using my computer to transfer the video to the DCIM folder, and using the CARD connector, it looks like the video has transferred, but it will not play. It just leaves an 'MP4' icon on the screen that does not function.

It will however transfer both pictures AND videos perfectly directly from my Cannon PowerShot S3...go figure.

Videos taken with the iPod Nano transfer and play perfectly. I just hope it works with videos taken from the new iPod about to come out.

I have not had any problems transferring pictures from any USB device as of yet: as long as the pictures are in a DCIM folder.

    Works perfectly

    • Written by from Madison

Used it to load pics from both a camera and an iphone, however, would be even better if it also worked to upload pics to an iphone. When plugged into the phone, you get a message about no compatability.

Hey Apple, how about updating the phone so we can use it with both devices.

Overall, a nice piece, if a little pricey for what it is.

    convenient and fast

    • Written by from HERNDON

A must-have accessory if you intend to transfer photos from digital camera to iPad without a computer or USB cable. It's fast and really convenient. However, it appears that the SD card reader does not work with those SDHC cards. Only regular SD cards are compatible.

It's the port(s) you wanted but couldn't be fit into such a slim device. A+

    • Written by from Mississauga

When something is as thin as an ipad, you have to find some sacrifice and also show apple what demand exists for ports and how you can make killer money off of extras. this is an extra, that you should get if you are a photographer or even like to quickly get photos off your camera. I have a macbook pro and use this connection more often, backing up my photos once I sync the ipad with the macbook. Works like a charm and does it quite quickly.
I hate that you have to pay $$ for this plus a case, plus a... the list goes on but getting first gen equip is never cheap and you have to consider yourself bleeding edge. Altogether, works like a charm.
Buy it, you will enjoy using it. Not daily but when in use, works perfectly.

    Amazing! Can load videos too!

    • Written by from Saratoga

Wow! I bought this for my friend for his bday because he wanted it, and I tought it was pretty cool but not that cool. After seeing my friend use it, I bought it the next day for me, what I love about it is that it sorts the pics by date AND it loads VIDEOS! Isn't that awesome? Now I got all the videos I took on my camera into my iPad. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was because it's a little hard to plug it into the iPad with the iPad case. other than that, great product!
