SD memory card interface works great for me

    • Written by from Chandler

I bought this as a way of quickly sharing images when shooting at a venue. I noticed a social change when sharing via the iPad rather than by squinting at the 3" display on the back of my Nikon D90. Seeing the excitement on folks faces when they see 1024x768 images is selfishly rewarding :-)

If I had one complaint, it would be 'why are you obliged to purchase both the SD and USB interface if you only want the SD interface?'. For my style of use, I 'never' attach a camera via USB to anything - why waste the camera battery power. I guess if you don't have an SD memory card compatible camera, you'd use the USB adapter, but not me. So I'd like to see consumers given the option of purchasing either the SD or the USB adapter. Heck - I'd even pay $20 for the SD adapter alone, which means Apple would get even more margin...

    Works Excellent with Nikon D90

    • Written by from Elk River

I photograph in the field and wanted a larger screen to view my photos on the fly without having to open up a larger notebook computer. The iPad and the camera connection kit solved the problem. The Raw Nikon NEF files transfer very quickly to the iPhoto app in the iPad. Resolution is very good and much easier to see if your shots are in focus vs. the smaller screen on the camera. I was able to transfer several hundred to the iPad. It takes about a second per photo to transfer. The interface is very similar to how iPhoto works on a Mac. If you are simply attempting to preview on the iPad after a photo shoot and then delete the photos from the iPad so that they can be transferred to a computer later from your card, this works extremely well. The only downside is if you have several hundred to delete, you have to select them individually and then press delete. This only took a couple of minutes as I couldn't find a select all. Otherwise, I highly recommend this.

Bought the connector while on vacation in Chicago, Apple Store has them in stock. Worked perfectly to import from 2GB high-speed cards. Have imported well over 1000 pics now, all nicely organized by date. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended time-saving device

    Great Product

    • Written by from Aydın

This a great product and a must-have for iPad users. It doesn't just import photos, it also works as a USB port and a SD slot! I use it all the time and connect it to a USB hub with a power adapter to also use flash drives, non-self powered hard drives and the Apple keyboard with the number keys and the USB ports. But it only works when I plug it to a USB hub with a power adapter. I also use it to import videos from my 5G iPod nano.
Overall, it is a great product which creates USB and SD slots.

A nice little tool that does everything it is advertised to do, plus more. I took pictures at a wedding, loaded them into The Pad and showed them at reception -- priceless. Also allows usb keyboard to be plugged in. Hope soon will allow use of flash drives, and other attachments.

    MS PRO

    • Written by from irvine

Just purchased camera kit today, works like a dream with MS PRO via USB adaptor. It does come up with a warning that it isn't recognised but hit ignore and works fine. Takes a minute or two to load but I use both raw and jpeg files. Although I say takes time to load i had over 200 photos. Great tool to see photos at a decent size within a short time after taking your photos.

    A very handy camera kit

    • Written by from Fairhope

This product is very handy, and well worth the price. I am a travel photographer, and am already loving the ability to pop the SD card out of my Nikon D90 and into the camera connection kit. I can view photos on the iPad in a 5x7 format, and great color I might add, to quickly review my work. I then either delete the photos from the card and use the USB cable to transfer to my MBP for iPhoto editing, or reinsert the SD card into the camera to continue shooting photos. Perfection!

I just received my connectors and plugged in my Nikon D80 and Nikon D700 to my iPad and was able to download all of my photos to my iPad and I use the NEF mode (RAW) and it let me still view all of my pics.
This is a great tool for my photography since now I can download my cards and view my pics immediately.

I just recently got my iPad and not being able to connect a camera to it to import pictures was holding me up. After I went to my local apple store for the 20th time to see the iPad I saw this hanging on the wall in the accessories area. Bought it and a new case right then. took it home plugged in my Iphone and my D70 Camera no issues thanks apple.

I can't wait till we can hook up an external drive (hint hint)

    Excellent device

    • Written by

Although, like the rest of you, I wish the iPad housed a usb port, the Apple Camera Connection Kit works flawlessly. Using a Sandisk Compact Flash Card reader I am able to upload RAW files from my Canon 5d mark II, that are about 21 mb each, easily and fairly quickly. It's great for an on-the-go photographer looking to back up photos or create space for more pictures. Truly plug and play and works without a hitch.

    iPad Camera Connection Kit

    • Written by from Raymore

I just received the Camera Connection Kit yesterday. I was, easily, able to transfer photos from a Canon G10 to my iPad. I then removed the SD card from the camera and directly connected the SD via the SD memory card connection device and, again, was able to transfer photos easily to my iPad.

I then experimented with a USB connected, multi-format, memory card reader. I connected the memory card reader via the same USB cable that I used for the camera to iPad transfer and was able to read and transfer images from a "compact flash" memory card which I use on my Nikon D200 and D700 SLR cameras.

Though I've not done it, yet, I plan to try to transfer photos and data files from a USB flash drive. I suspect that will work, also.

Bottom line, I think this pair of devices will be quite useful. . . even beyond what Apple has advertised!
