The camera connection kit used to work with my Nikon via the USB connection. BUT since various software updates to the iPad, I now get a message stating: The connected storage media may be damaged, every time I try to connect the camera to the iPad camera connection kit via USB. Extremely disappointed with this Apple product. I have a device that is now useless. What a wait of money.

Good but lacking a huge feature

    • Written by from Kingston

When plugged into the iPad you can only browse little thumbnails. I often take 4 or 5 pictures to get the right angle. It would be nice to be able to see large versions of the pictures or to be able to quickly show picturess that are on the sd card with out having to import them all.

    Waste of money

    • Written by from Fort Smith

I received the kit in the mail. Hooked the USB card reader to my iPad. 3rd generation and received error message this device draws too much power. Tried several different brands of USB keys and still received same error message drawing too much power. This was a total waste of money! If you have to use the adapter with a powered USB hub then that is fine but apple should disclose that the iPad will not power a USB key and you must use a powered USB hub to make the kit work. I have several thousands pictures I wanted to transfer from a USB and now it seems I just wasted my money. Very disappointed. I spefically ordered this kit from apple to avoid cheap knock offs and still received a product that is not useable. This product should be removed from sale on the apple store.

    so disappointed

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Just bought a Nikon S9300 and the iPad Camera Connector Kit. If one of the two had to fail, I'd choose the connector kit, because it did. "Device requires too much power" or some such nonsense. As if I have to time for this. How do you sell a product that a customer can't use?

    Doesn't do anything

    • Written by from Matsudo

Hoped to be able to import jpegs via sd card reader. All the literature says that iPad 2 "automatically opens photo app" and yet it doesn' t. In fact, nothing happens. I can't find the sd card nor the photos on it anywhere.

    Totally Dissapointed.

    • Written by from Saskatoon

I tried using these out of the box, on my first gen ipad. Never once did my ipad open the photo app. It would not recognize my 2 Fuji cameras, or Flip video camera, Would not accept images off of a USB flash drive, saying the device "requires too much power", even on a 100% charge. I tried 2 separate SD cards. One got the response "may have corrupted files", and another that was perfectly functional showed no response at all. Unhappy with purchase.

    Doens't work at all

    • Written by from alkmaar

I bought the connectioin kit and tried it with an SD card. It's fails with the message that the device is incompatible. With the SD in the camera then: it fails, it uses too much power. A usb thumb drive? It fails. a usb harddrive with it's own power? it fails, because the device uses too much power.
Don't buy it, it is useless.

Does not work with Cannon Powershot

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

This only worked the first time I connected the iPad 2 to camera usng the USB connector. After the first time, the iPad 2 does not detect the camera. I tried everything - charging up iPad, new batteries on camera, removing and replacing SD card on camera but nothing worked. I finally removed the SD card from the camera and used the other connector with the SD card slot and it worked. My first Apple product and am disappointed that it cannot perform a simple operation.

    Works great

    • Written by from Kansas City

I purchased this product before a trip to Europe as a means to upload photos and send them as I go. I used the SD card adapter the whole time and it worked fantastic adding photos to my first gen iPad. The 1000+ photos were uploaded quickly and they look great. I did not use the USB connector but I am willing to bet it works just as well. Definitely recommend.

    Good device for photos

    • Written by from Woodbridge

I purchased this kit before a trip to London/Paris. I decied to go without my usual laptop to download my pictures each day. Instead I took my iPad and this connector kit. The iPad, via the SD part of the kit, downloaded the images into my iPad 64G device without and modifications using the RAW format from my Nikon. When I did get home, I easily imported the photos into Apeture for editing, etc. Without this device I would have needed my laptop which I didn't want to lug around. I would recommend this device for this purpose alone.

    iPad Camera Connection Kit

    • Written by from Raymore

I just received the Camera Connection Kit yesterday. I was, easily, able to transfer photos from a Canon G10 to my iPad. I then removed the SD card from the camera and directly connected the SD via the SD memory card connection device and, again, was able to transfer photos easily to my iPad.

I then experimented with a USB connected, multi-format, memory card reader. I connected the memory card reader via the same USB cable that I used for the camera to iPad transfer and was able to read and transfer images from a "compact flash" memory card which I use on my Nikon D200 and D700 SLR cameras.

Though I've not done it, yet, I plan to try to transfer photos and data files from a USB flash drive. I suspect that will work, also.

Bottom line, I think this pair of devices will be quite useful. . . even beyond what Apple has advertised!

    Extremely poor experience

    • Written by from Coral Springs

In the past this product worked a few times, but whether the product failed or one of the iOS upgrades removed software support for the device, it no longer works. I plug the device in and then plug in an SD or SDHC card and "Photos" opens...but all it shows is the photos already on my iPad, and there is no menu option or popup to import photos or select photos for import from the SD card. Totally pointless. Either it is an unreliable device or it is unsupported by the most recent release of iOS...either way it is a waste of money.

I almost didn't by this because of the reviews here. However I bought it and they work just fine. I have an Extreme 8gb Sandisk card that unloaded with no problems whatsoever. The other adapter worked fine as well. I highly recommend this product.

Simple. Inexpensive. Easy to use. Convenient!

    • Written by from Canmore

This works exactly as stated! Plug it in, insert either a Compact Flash or SD card (up to 32GB in size) and boom, you're images are viewable on the iPad. It's easy, it's inexpensive and it's extremely convenient. If you're a photographer on the go and clients require instant review of your images, this is what you need.

Mine used to work before the ios5 upgrade. Now, always says USB device not supported. Sometimes when I go to iPhoto's the camera will show, other times not. If I power down it seems to help! Frustrating for sure.

    Photo transfer is a problem

    • Written by from Bangalore

I just purchased ipad2 and Photo kit, which is difficult to use. If you take pictures on ipad2 it is great. Transfering from SDHC, XD or from memory sticks is problamatic..
Furthermore when you take a new picture and want to add to an existing album, it is not enabled. The manual conceals more than it reveals re photo application. .

    It used to work

    • Written by from Kelty

I have an original ipad, and I bought the camera connecton kit. It worked perfectly for a few months, but since I upgraded to ios 5.1 it now does nothing. It is not recognised at all - not even an error message. I tried plugging it into my iphone, in the hope that it might work there. It did not, but at least I got a message stating - this iphone does not support this device.
