    Works with my Sony Cyber-shot

I just received the adapter today.
    I have an older Sony Cyber-shot 7MP camera (DSC-W7).

    1. plugged the USB adapter into the iPad
    2. plug the USB cable between the iPad and the camera
    3. Turned on the camera
    4. Turned on the iPad
    5. Voila!
The Photos app automatically opened on the iPad and immediately showed the "Camera" section.

    Importing was easy!

    Note:
I used an iPad app (Photo-sort) to transfer the photos from the iPad to a PC via WiFi.
In the past, I usually connected the camera directly to the PC, but it would be nifty if there was a way to import pictures from the iPad *TO* the PC ... iTunes seems to only work in the other direction.

Good product for someone with lots of SD card cameras! Plus the USB connector allows me to use keyboards for typing and a big plus is it allows the use of Harman Kardon Soundsticks speakers.

Yes! iPad plays Video from Photos App

Just got the CCK I ordered here at the Apple Store. Using my Canon PS G9 I was able to take the SD card and plug it into the iPad and Photos App did it's thing and loaded the pictures. I then shot about a minute of video using both standard & hi res. Photos app loaded the video. It allowed me to play the video full screen! I connected the iPad to my mac and copied video to iphoto. Opening the video and getting info, I see that the camera produced an .AVI file, with format details of: Apple OpenDML JPEG,1024x768. I am so jazzed! Now I am set for my trip to India next week with my iPad, CCK, and my Canon camera. WOW!

    CF Card Reader Worked

A new Belkin USB 2 reader wanted too much power but an older Memorex worked fine and there was power to light the activity LED on the device. The USB 1 device was slower than the direct to camera hookup but it gives me the option of not hauling out the camera.

    The Camera Adaptor

i have had my camera adaptor for about a week now, and I can find no faults with it. Others have written that they were disappointed it would only accept an SD card. Well, if you can read, you would have seen in the description that it was an SD card reader. Not CF, SD..... I have both Canon and Fuji point-and-shoot cameras, and the adaptor works fine with both, directly cabled to the usb adaptor or using the card reader. The software/firmware/whatever even handles NEF files from my Nikon D300 quickly and efficiently. I have a Logitech USB stereo headset/microphone set, and it works flawlessly as well. The microphone does not work with Dragon Dictate, but does work fine for voice memos in PaperDesk. All in all, a good product; fills the niche nicely.

iPad + camera connector = coolest thing ever!

Just got my camera connection kit. Plugged in an SD card, popped it into iPad, pics appeared in Photos app...works exactly as promised. Some reviewers complain that it didn't work with iPhone or some other device...well, did it say it would? Pretty sure it only listed the iPad under compatible devices. And if some other ones work, bonus!
This seriously makes the iPad even more amazing than it already is. Thank you, Apple!

    camera kit

    • Written by from Charleston

I just purchased a camera kit in hopes it will help me view my HD videos from my camcorder.
It works beautifully...I have to record in 720 30 fps instead of 1080 30 fps MP4 for it to play.( must be something with the display of the ipad res.) . My camera records on a SDHC card in the H.264 format so I just insert the card in the card reader after shooting some scenes and presto! It loads, plays and can even zoom while viewing with out a skip!!! Man this thing is slick.
So all of you who are wondering about loading and viewing HD format from a camcorder ,it works great!!!!
BTW I am using a Sanyo Xacti HD-1010

Works fine with iPhone 3G and 3GS

    • Written by from Corvallis

62 of 65 people found this useful

Tested the kit using USB to iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and Canon PowerShot SD900 with my 64GB 3G iPad.

Photos come over full size from all three. I've tried copying and pasting into iPad Mail and emailing directly from iPad Photos. The results were identical--no resolution changes.

However, when I tried this with photos downloaded from my Canon SD900 I found a difference. Copying the photo and pasting it into iPad Mail sent the full sized photo, 3648x2736. When emailing directly from the Photos app on the iPad the image was resized to 2048x1536 which appears to be the limit on photos piped from the Photos app to the email app.

Movies from my SD900 (MVI_xxxx.AVI files) also imported and played properly on my iPad.

I am very pleased with the kit.

    Camera Connection Kit to iPhone

I have had a great time connecting via USB from my iPhone 3GS - for photos and video -to the iPad.

It works well with my Sony CyberShot - but the video doesn't play. It does sync the videos to iPhoto to be able to play them.

Works with CF cards and Raw Files

    • Written by from Seattle

121 of 135 people found this useful

This is a great accessory to have if you have a point and shoot camera or a DSLR. I have used it with both the SD card reader and the USB reader to upload images from a CF card. If you have a DSLR which uses CF cards it will still work, just connect a CF card reader into the USB plug and it will read it just like the SD reader. Also I shoot in RAW (NEF) and it will read those images and when I connect my iPad into my computer I can import the RAW files directly into Lightroom or Aperture with no data loss to the original file! It will be useful when I travel and want a backup or run out of room on my card and want to store the files on the iPad. I also have seen that you can upload video but I have not tried that yet. As a photographer though, it does everything I could have asked for and more!
