    Downloading pictures is s SNAP!

I took these adapters with me on my trip to Australia and NZ this past summer. No problems with the downloading of the pictures and I took a lot. The only problem is I ran out of space on my iPad. This is a great accessory to have if you like to download pictures and see them on a bigger screen and let the iPad do the rest.

I like this adapter very much. I use it with my Canon EOS 550D.
Just put the SD card in the slot and you can share your pictures on the go.

10 minutes in and money well spent

This accessory really completes the iPad. If only it was built in.

The card reader picked up the data off of a 2GB SD card from a Nikon Cool Pix P&S and I'm sure it will work for my DSLR as well.

The USB port works with a lot of peripherals as stated in other reviews but I have wondered for four weeks if it would work with the one sitting in my desk as it slowly made it's way from Shenzen. Sure enough, when you plug a bar code wand into the USB port it says that it's not a supported device but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. It picked up the two bar codes on the kits packaging quickly and easily. Pretty slick. Now to find the application for it.

    Very satisfied.

Used it to import from my iPhone directly and it was very handy that way. Must have if you plan on getting photos onto it quickly while out and about.

It's totally worth it. Would have been nice if it was built in. But you can't have everything in the first round on this planet.

I bought a New iPad 3 and wanted to load all my photos on but I never thought about the connections on the iPad, thankfully Apple had and I bought the camera kit today. I plugged in my SD card, slotted in the connector to the iPad and hey presto photos stored ASAP. Amazing tool I recommend it I've never loaded my photos on anywhere so quickly.

Kudos apple, job very well done

Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit in a few words

    • Written by from Durham

The connection kit comes in two parts, which makes it easy to lose, or at least harder to keep track of. The USB kit works only with a limited number of cameras, and easily gives up saying the connected camera is drawing too much power (one wonders what the camera battery is for). The SD reader doesn't read micro-SD. In short, this equipment is not very usefull.

    Underwhelmed!

The more I use my iPad 2 the lore I like it. I finally added some music from my computer library and audio books bit wasn't able to add pictures, UGH? Then I re-read the directions more carefully and found that I needed to purchase the camera connection kit, wow, even more $$$. But I bit the bullet and bought the kit. I had saved pictures from my computer library to a microSD card so I put the adaptor into the iPad and nothing happened! I tried several times then tried another, identical adaptor and received an error message that the pictures couldn't be transferred.
Not to give in, I pulled up this website and found the trouble.... you can't download modified pictures! What a bummer! So I went back to my computer, downloaded the pictures I wanted to see on my iPad back onto my camera, then attached the camera to the iPad and they transferred. Much more work than I wanted to do, but got the job done.
Then I wanted to add pictures I had not taken so I pulled up the pictures in my library/folder and took a picture with my camera. Then I connected the camera to my iPad and transferred them. The quality isn't as good, obviously, but I was able to get the pictures I wanted onto my iPad.
Again, that was more work than it needed to be for the high-tech iPad, so I echo the entries that say Apple needs to help us out and let us get our pictures onto our iPad's!

We bought two iPad 2 at the same time. This device works perfectly in one but it does not work at all in the other iPad 2. We tried everything possible. It should work in both of them. I hope Apple fixes this problem.

I have a Panasonic Lumix (DMC-ZS6), and the camera connection kit doesn't work at all for me. Nothing happens when I insert the SD card, and nothing happens when I directly connect the camera. Running IOS 4.3 on an iPad2. Super disappointed.

I see lots of posts that say this worked great, but I tried to import photos to my iPad2 from an SD card and nothing happened. The instructions say just to plug in the adapter and insert the SD card and there you go, photos. For me....nothing.

    CF support

This works as advertised. Now for those who are complaining about no CF support, did you try connecting your card reader to the usb port? Okay now try it....happy now? BTW it was advertised as a camera (USB) and SD card reader kit, nowhere did it mention CF so why buy it? JW.

    Waster Opportunity

First off these do exactly what they say it will and a "little" more so I'm not going to say exactly what every other review has said. I'll say what the others aren't saying and see if it gets through the screener's:

This is another example of a capable piece of hardware unnecessarily limited by software. There is allot of opportunity for this add-on device that SHOULD give the missing capabilities that were not natively built into the iPad. Unfortunately it only does about 1/2 of what's needed..

I use my iPad mostly for work (and games). The only thing stopping me from switching ALL of my work email, correspondence, etc over to this is its inability to attach a file not created or downloaded from within the iPad. I'm not going to watch movies, listen to music or read books on it. Because of its awesome, simple, portable nature I AM going to use it for all the apps, web surfing, emailing, scheduling, flight planning, mapping, etc.... that it is SO good at! My biggest limitation is the inability to "easily" transfer files from my big 3D desktop workstation to this to email. If I currently need to send a file I have to bring up a clunky web browser based mail client and go that route. It's a pain. I so wanted to be able to copy a ZIP file to a flash drive, plug it in to this USB adapter, copy it to the iPad and attach it to an email to send. Doesn't work. Why? I have no idea. I don't see how adding this simple software feature would hinder itunes sales? It doesn't seem any different than adding a feature just like the current "Photos" or "Videos" accept it would say "Files".

OK, enough ranting. I hope in the near future they add this simple and much needed feature. I'm not holding my breath but I also never thought I would be carrying around 2 Apple mobile devices everywhere I go... and I do.

Can't view without importing? Give me a break

    • Written by from Springfield

The whole reason I got this thing was to quickly view pics from my camera's SD card. Not to have to sit and wait while it imports a few hundred, or for me to have to pick and choose (one at a time) which ones to import just to see if they are blurry or not.

Come on Apple, who thought mandatory importing was a good idea?
