THis accessory is very helpful and good to have just incase your batteries decide to go dead on you in the middle of doing something. At first I thought $29.00 was a little much but then I got to thinking, how much money does the average person spend on batteries every year. So overall this product was a good buy and I would recommend it to anybody.

I feel that the Apple Battery Charger and battery kit is an excellent product for the price.

The unit is compact, compatible with other Apple AC adapter extension cables, and charges very quickly. All 6 batteries arrived with %80+ charge on them, and only took about 30-45 minutes to top off. So far the battery life is outstanding. I've been using my devices on the batteries for almost two weeks, for about 12-16 hours per day and the battery reading on my Magic Mouse is %65. So at that rate, I should get over a month between charges. That's well beyond acceptable to me. Add to that the number of charges these batteries will take, and you have an economical, and environmentally conscious product that is hard to turn down.

I love the design of the charger, and the LED indicator. I also like the low vampire draw design that keeps even the charging LED from staying on forever after it has fully charged the batteries.

Another excellent product that goes well with the range of wireless Apple products. I felt very pleased that Apple chose to include enough batteries to power the wireless Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard in one package.

    Thank you Apple!

    Batteries deliver as promised

I was skeptical about trying these batteries after reading some of the reviews posted on here but after receiving them i must say i am quite happy with the results.

A few reviewers had posted that they would not fully charge in the charger and the batteries would only show a level of 85% on the battery indicator for the magic mouse after charging for several hours. I have a feeling that the reason the battery life indicator is reading less then 100% is a result of NiMH batteries running at 1.2V vs 1.5V for alkaline batteries.

When i received the batteries i topped up a set in the charger for about an hour, until the green light came on indicating a full charge. I placed them in my Magic Mouse and used them for a solid 8 hr work day and only witnessed a drop from 87% to 86% which is great! The charger is small and fits easily in a packed power bar which is a big plus for me too.

I have read all of the reviews to date and after using the charger and batteries felt that I should write this review. I did have a little difficulty with the charger at first until I realized that the ports on the positive contacts of the charger had a very close tolerance and the batteries were a little bit of a tight fit. So when I inserted the batteries and applied a little pressure to seat the positive end of the battery into the charger the batteries charged fine. I think that the ports on the positive terminals of the charger will loosen up after some use. As far as the fully charged batteries registering approximately 80% on the wireless mouse or keyboard... The voltage of a fresh AA alkaline battery is approximately 1.5V. A fully charged AA NiMH battery has a voltage of approximately 1.2V. The wireless mouse and keyboard are probably configured to register 1.5V as 100%. If you do the math the AA NiMH battery should register approximately 80% when fully charged and inserted into the wireless mouse or wirless keyboard. I hope this helps!

Nothing wrong with 85% charge...the batts are OK.

The battery level display for the Bluetooth devices is calculated based on the battery voltage. While AA Alkaline batteries have a 1.5 Volt nominal voltage, rechargable batteries have a maximum voltage of 1.2 to 1.25 Volt. That's about 15% less - hence the 85% charge people reported seeing with fully charged batteries - perfectly normal for rechargables. Save the trip back to the store.

It's really nice to see a company come up with something to reduce both landfill contaminates AND consumer cost. I've been looking for a way to have my replaceable battery items to have rechargeable batteries, the only thing holding me back was the initial cost. At $29 on average for a battery charger (without batteries, which depending on brand can be half the cost of the charger for only two), I considered that to be too pricy. I'm not saying the environment isn't worth it, but I'm just a blue collar worker, don't really have the $70+ to get all my devices on rechargeable. Well, thank you Apple Inc. and Mr. Jobs for giving me the opportunity to help the environment without costing me an arm and leg. This is a great product at the price, and with the battery type, I can get more than the initial six it comes with and still not cause my wife to go insane because I'm trying to save our environment and money for the long run.

    A Must Have

    • Written by from Vernon

This is one of the best accessories that apple has created in a long time. The rechargeable system is a must have with any wireless items. I hate to say that the normal batteries don't last long in my wireless keyboard/mouse/trackpad. I find myself having to change the batteries once every other month or so, and that really adds up to the number of batteries I go through each year. At least with the new rechargeable system, it only takes 5 hours for a full charge, and the batteries have a 10 year warranty.

The charging unit is very compact and the charging time seems to be fairly quick. The six batteries that come with the charger is a good amount (for use in Keyboard, Mouse & Track Pad). I am really happy about this purchase and glad that now I don't have to recycle batteries all the time.

Neat little charger. Very compact (small enough to fit into a quad outlet with all the other outlets in use!), but has a very substantial feel. Great travel size... the AC plug slides out so you can use your charging cord from your Mac or plugs from Apple's Travel Adapter kit if you're traveling outside the US...

Comes with 6 batteries - wish Apple sold extra batteries for it.

They didn't come charged when i took them out of the box, but that didn't really matter to me. Truthfully they are no different than any other batterie i've used but the packaging is nice. What else would you expect from apple? So thats pretty much it. They're defiantly a good buy, i don't even need to stock so many batteries anymore!

Looking at the pictures, I thought this item would be rather bulky--like an iPod adapter brick...but it's not, it's probably the size of 4 AA batteries together. A single indicator on top informs of charging status, and getting 6 NiMH batteries is a great deal. 10 year life span according to Apple? Wow. I'll check back in 2020.

I like that Apple has used the same battery compartment style that is in the Magic Mouse (and maybe other products). Two chrome rivets as opposed to springs. Makes for cleaner install and also like the fact that both batteries install the same way.

You can hook directly to a 2-prong Mac cord, or use the flip plug like on other Apple adapters.

I was a little reserved at first, but I'm happy with the $30 that I spent. The batteries look cool, too. :) Although a AAA option would have been a nice touch--but Apple obviously designed this to work with it's wireless accessories - to add a 'green' option to all the batteries that you will be using.
