Horrible. Period. Purchase 4 mos ago, just tried to charge the batts.fail

    • Written by from Clayton

I bought this charger with my trackpad a few months ago because I had a gift card. The included batteries in my wireless keyboard just started to give out today all of a sudden. Not sure why since the last time I used the keyboard it was showing 87%, today it was down to 10% somehow. Anyway, I opened the charger box which incluced 6 batteries. Two were shrink wrapped and two were already in the charger, so I plugged it in straight away fresh out the box. Blinking orange. Manual says batteries are either not seated correctly in charger or defective, etc... reseated the batteries 3 times..nothing.

This is pure garbage. Not what I expect from Apple.

    Great, Reliable.

I bought a set for myself and will be purchasing more for friends as gifts. I only wish they would sell additional batteries separately so that I could run everything I own off of them!

    Simply Amazing!

    • Written by from Bangalore

Not only that this batteries charge much faster than others, it also has an indicator light which turns green once fully charged. Not many Ni-Mh chargers I know could possibly do that. About the batteries- Even after the fact that they have a lower mAh rating compared to other ones in the market(2300mAh), I could shoot upto 250 photos on my canon 10x zoom powershot with most photos shot with the flash. Now thats what I call as performance! Way to go Apple!

Doesn't charge two batteries at the same time anymore

    • Written by from Ontario

I bought mine with my Magic Trackpad and charged up all my batteries back then. Now that the batteries supplied with the trackpad are low, I figured I'd top off my rechargeables and stick a pair in.

…as it turns out, I can't put any pair of Apple-supplied batteries into my charger without getting the blinking orange light, and some batteries appear to prefer one charging slot over another.

    Batteries never fully charge

    • Written by from Singapore

Batteries never recharge to their maximum or don't recharge at all, despite the light going from orange to green. Very poor.

    • Written by from Orange

I tried charging all 6 included batteries and also my brand new magic trackpad's batteries since they were dead... So, with 8 batteries havent charged once. Looks like I should switch back to Alkaline batteries since THEY AT LEAST WORK! Dont even bother for this thing.

    Label batteries in pairs

    • Written by from Webster

Love this product. I use them for the wireless keyboard, trackpad. I bought another set to use for my Nikon SB-900 camera flash unit. They're amazing for that application.

Labeling batteries in pairs will make them last longer, as they will have the same amount and relative number of charges and use cycles.

    Let them charge long enough

    • Written by from Mobile

Several people said they only got them to 80-85% charge before placing in the trackpad. I saw the same thing, but I let them charge past green, until the light fully shut off. Placed them back in Magic TrackPad and they were 100%. They are evidently still trickle-charging with the green light. Hey people, don't be too quick to criticize. Investigate and give things a chance to work.

The batteries are Sanyo Eneloop with Apple branding. They are the best ...

    • Written by from Montgomery

The batteries are said to be a version of Sanyo Eneloop with Apple branding. They are the best rechargeable batteries made. They don't deplete in storage the way standard rechargeable batteries do. I'm not keeping close track of how often I have to change batteries in my keyboard and mouse but it is not very often and it is a simple thing to just exchange two from the device with the two standing by in the charger. Better for the environment, right? Even if they don't last as long as alkaline's in the long run much less waste and less cost too.

Have multiple computers and need more batteries? Just get a set of Sanyo Eneloop AA's and you should be able to use the Apple charger. (Apple does not sell batteries separate from the charger).

    Beautiful design. Terrible batteries.

    • Written by from BURBANK

Apple should be embarrassed and replace them with normal rechargeable batteries. Apple found the worst rechargeables in the World and put a shiny silver label on them for marketing. 80% when fully charged and Trackpad went down 10% in one day. I have absolutely no interest in recharging these batteries every week. Duracell batteries last more than six months on my keyboard (less with Trackpad). Apple? We are waiting for you to acknowledge and correct this defective product.

Looks great, disappointed in the charge

    • Written by from Crandall

Two stars for a very nice design. But I cant give it any more than that, because it only charges to 87% when placed in the Magic Mouse. They also seem to drain down faster than regular Energizer batteries. For $29 you should expect top notch performance and this charger hasnt delivered.

Must have with the Magic Trackpad

    • Written by from MIAMI

I bought the Apple Battery Charger with my Magic Trackpad not realizing that the Trackpad would chew through batteries like they are going out of style. The charger works perfect and the batteries work well. If I charge them and let the extra ones sit in my drawer waiting for the ones I'm using in my Trackpad to go dead so I can swap them they seem to loose a little charge. But hey they are rechargeable so I just give them a quick refresh. They last a long time in my Apple wireless keyboard! I highly recommend them to everyone, and frequently do at the Apple store when I'm there. :)

    bad batteries

    • Written by from Yorba Linda

Doesn't hold charge! I should have read more comments before i bought this.

My keyboard is at 73% fully charges and mouse was at 80%. I have a 2009 iMac and I use 3 AA batteries for my keyboard and 2 for my mouse. Since I Bought them yesterday, my mouse is now at 60% in one day and I didn't really use it that much. Got home around 4pm, charged them and it is now 10:45 the following day and its slowly dying!

The Only positive thing is there is no restocking fee! Im returning them and trying duracell or something.

    Particularly finicky

    • Written by from Parker

I like that this charger is very small. I can put it in my backpack so I always have a charger with me, particularly on vacation.

What I don't like is how finicky it is with batteries. I get the orange blinking lights with almost every battery - including Apple's. The second time I went to charge Apple's own batteries, it started to blink orange. Having a compact design is useless if it won't charge your batteries.

You might want to pass for now.

    Disappointment

    • Written by from Boca Raton

Obviously I like Apple products- I bought this thing. But, especially compared to other Apple products, this one is subpar. On the plus side, the unit is handsome, is simple to use, and it comes with six batteries. However, it never charges the batteries fully. I even unplug it/plug it back in, and the batteries still only get up to about 70% off two charges. In retrospect, I should've purchased a charger that juices all 6 batteries at the same time (and of course charges them 100%).

    Incorrect information

    • Written by from DARIEN

Unfortunately, the comment on Oct. 12 by BB from Gonzales is only partially correct. The current 2009 Apple wireless keyboard uses two AA batteries. The 2007 version uses three and the original 2003 version has four.

    love it

    • Written by from whittier

I absolutely love these batteries, sleek good looking good price point and a smart move to both go green and make another buck by apple. I have had the set since the week it came out and use the batteries for a multitude of tasks.
the only reason that I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because as of this point I can't find a way to buy more of apples batteries (note that I am saying more of their batteries, I understand you can buy generic but it would make good sense for apple to sell more of their own instead of expecting me to buy a whole other charger that I don't need or having me put a third party battery in their charger which they won't warranty down the line)

Sorry Apple. This product is off the mark.

    • Written by from Coconut Creek

Usually I give most Apple products a chance and usually love them. This product however, is a battery charger. Not rocket science.. but I hate to say that they got this little device all wrong. looks great but functionality is horrible. Never charges fully. Goes up to about 85% and then drains far too quickly. I get about triple the usage out of regular batteries. If you're looking for a good rechargeable battery charger. You might want to look somewhere else.

    Best Of The Best

    • Written by from Gonzales

I've had wonderful performance from this charger and the batteries. As for the negative reviews, I notice two of them claim they use two batteries in an Apple wireless keyboard. Sorry, that keyboard uses three batteries, so I think they're made up reviews. I use one, my girlfriend uses one, I have several students and clients using them, everyone loves them! Keeps an Apple wireless keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad units going for a very long time before needing recharges. If you don't get very much life out of the batteries, bring to the Apple store for replacement, simple as that.
