Reviews for Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adaptor (for MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro)

Have had to replace the power cable twice in less than 2 years due to the faulty design where the wire attaches to the magnetic head. This is completely unacceptable given the price of the cables. Unless this gets fixed, will probably not purchase a Mac laptop in future.

Cables fray frequently, which forces expensive replacements.

WOW. After reading these reviews I have come to see that I am NOT losing my mind in thinking that my one-year-old macbook cord (bought with my computer) has already "bit the dust". I went Apple, after years of being strictly PC, because I thought Apple was a superior product. I'm honestly starting to rethink that. Lower the ridiculous $79 replacement for starters. If we have to be buying a new cord every year that's ridiculous. I have a five year-old HP whose power cord I have NEVER had to replace. Improve this Apple or you're going to turn away a lot of new customers. I know I'm already turned and now stuck with my $2000 investment!

The cord only last a year I am going on my third one and paying $80.00 for a cord that only last a year sounds about right for Apples money hungry don't car for their customer attitude. I think that when it charges it heats up and weakens the thin cord going to the computer were it connects to the big box. This last one I bought I was really careful not to be rough with it and it still broke in the same area as the last one. For $80.00 dollars this should last more then a year.

This charger lasted me six months before falling apart (which, based off of the reviews I've read, I feel lucky it lasted that long). Now I have to buy a completely new one at nearly $80, a ridiculous price for something that works so poorly. The L-shape is to blame for splitting the cord, too. Bad design and awful price.

I own a MacBook Pro, an iPad, an iPod, and an iPhone. You would say I am a Mac fan, but this power adapter is by far the worst designed item I have encountered. I understand that compared to other laptop power adaptors, this is lighter and thinner, but the thinner half of the adapter (that connects to the laptop) is too flimsy, small, weak, and poorly designed. Plus, Apple does not offer to replace half of the two part adapter, instead it costs you a whopping $80 + tax.. Disgusted.

I am on my third apple charger in 3 years. My computer is amazing, the power source is made to fail. You can see YouTube videos and also reviews on this very site telling you how terrible it is. The cable is not up to the job and basically melts and freys at the contact points. I am having to go and buy another one as I have no alternative but this is an issue apple must be aware of and simply don't seem to care. Why it's not covered under a warranty I will never know. I am about to purchase a new laptop, this is putting me off replacing my current Mac with a new one.

I have just three months using the original charger of my brand new macbook and i just noticed minutes ago that i will have to spend 80 dollars to buy a new one because mine no longer works, the cable that goes from the charger to the computer is too fragile, I think that every new macbook should bring 10 chargers, maybe that will guarantee us 2 years without having to spend 80 dollars on a new charger.

I just hate that i can't give 0 stars in this review.

About to buy my third adaptor. Why can't apple make these last longer?

I've gone through three of these bad boys in the last 3 years. What really irks me though, is that the design hasn't changed. Regardless of this product barely getting over a 1 star, Apple hasn't listened to its customers. Basically, your charger will short out on you regardless of how you take care of it, so just expect to shell out a few hundred dollars on replacements over the lifespan of your computer. Very disappointed.
