Poor design, what were you thinking

    • Written by from Virginia Beach

the brick itself may be quality, but the cable was definitely designed for its looks. Like literally every other apple cable i have owned, that came out in the last five years or so, they always break on the end. Today my sister came to me to charge her MacBook because her broke after being repaired for the second time. Mine was hold together with tape but today, after less than a year it snapped. I am on 3% battery, using the last 13 minutes i have (witch is impressive by the way) on telling you how much you s****. Fire someone and fix it ASAP

    Bring back the T-style!

    • Written by from Tucker

My wife and I haven't had the same connectivity issues as many reviewers here, but I do want to note that our L-style adapters are literally falling apart--peeling, exposed wires, cracks. I never had this issue with my T-style adapter, which I used for 4-5 years before my cat got to it. My current charger is being held together with electrical tape, surrounded by a second layer duct tape.

The kicker is I never even take my charger anywhere; it's not an issue of wrapping the cords too tightly or mangling them in a backpack. The charger just sits at our desk when neither of us is using it, and it's still falling apart. $80 is WAY too much for this POS. Bring back your old charger, please!

    Macbook Air charger Problems

    • Written by from Houston

I don't like apple products. Too pricey but bought Macbook air becoz my wife likes it. Laptop works fine but not chargers. What is the point.
Laptop charger gone bad twice within couple months and it costs $80 each. I am not buying Apple products anymore. Sorry Apple. There are better products out there for cheaper price.

    Split, frayed, and twisted

    • Written by from Sioux Falls

My charger conked out last night for the last time. I say the last time because I have had continual problems with it. I had to add the extension cord to it about a year ago because the plug in broke. That worked until now when last night the part for the cord attached to the block totally split and frayed and turned the cord surrounding brown. I didn't even know it happened until it suddenly didn't work and I had an unhappy surprise awaiting me. That's how quickly it happened. I don't know if it was because of twist buildup or it got caught on some thing or something else. I called today and they said it was out of warranty so I would simply have to buy an expensive new one.

    Been through 3 this year

    • Written by from Iqaluit

The adapters are awful. Usually they last a year or two but this past year I have been through 3. I am not a heavy user. I do not travel with my laptop and I usually leave the adapter on my desk. Very upset. I am reconsidering apple computers altogether as a result of the additional 300$ expense in replacement power adapters.

    MacBook's weak link

    • Written by from Stonington

I'm ordering my third or fourth charger/cord in four years. This one lasted under a year; definitely not on par with Apple's other standards.Since I'm paying $79, which seems like quite a lot for a power cord (once a year at this point) I'm an unhappy customer ordering yet another one since I don't see an alternative. And just weeks ago I lent my charger to friends (2 separate parties) who had the same problem. This has been the MacBook's weak link for several years now, it gets mostly negative reviews, but doesn't get fixed. This is a bit baffling and frustrating. Hate to spend the money on yet another charger that probably won't last, but I don't have much choice.

    Extremely Upset

    • Written by from MERRITT ISLAND

I am now on my 3rd one of these and yet again it is starting to go bad after not even a year. It always happens the same way. They start out great.. and eventually you have to mess with it to get it to charge, and then it just goes. I HATE these stupid things. I complain every time I've had to replace, but nothing gets done about it. $80 is WAAY to much for these pieces of junk. They need to give these things out for free.. soo frustrated, especially when you're a broke college student who NEEDS a computer!!!!!

    Time for adapter #4

    • Written by from LITCHFIELD

I seriously want Apple to reconsider their fabulous design. I now need to buy my fourth adapter in two years. At this rate I could buy a new (pc) laptop. How hard would it be to use an adapter like all the other laptops use? I have no issues with those breaking, twisting, coming disconnected, or simply failing.

Horrible problem that Apple seems to not care about

    • Written by from Charlotte Hall

every single one of these chargers is flawed. they are bound to break no matter what. i took extremely good care of mine and it worked like a charm for about a year. Then the brick started heating up to insane/unsafe temperatures. This charger is definitely a fire hazard. The smaller cable at the brick side started to break all at once. over about a 2-3 day process the charger was completely broken. the cable got to such an intense amount of heat, i could see the rubber burning off of it and could smell it burning. Without any mishandleing on my behalf, the sheilding became completely frayed and there is no longer a connection. i would go in and rewire it myself if only i could open the brick up, it seems as if it is impossible to open. Very unsafe product. Very horrible product overall.

    Power cord is HORRIBLE

    • Written by from Fort Lee

My husband's cord started fraying several months ago. I hardly use my computer as my kids are always on it and found out today that mine was completely dead. I had no idea it was even damaged in the first place. I only figured it out when I happened to get on it and noticed that for some reason my battery was not only being used but it was about to die and now I have no way to charge it. Then I go to see how much it will be to get a new one and see it is $80. That is expensive, especially when I see that this appears to be a very frequent problem with many other customers. I am highly disappointed that such a poor quality product is being used on a expensive computer. Not happy! I would give it zero stars if I could but that isn't an option.

Pathetic adapter from Apple... did not expect it

    • Written by from Bangalore

My adapter is just within 1 year and it started shorting and long back it had been giving flickering issues. The charger when connected to the laptop would not charge some times. It used to flicker. The cable design is so bad that it is very susceptible to shorting. It can easily wear and tear and not suitable for rough use. When we have to spend so much on a charger, the customer expects that it lasts long and is of good quality. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Request Apple to do a better job at cable design (use tough kevlar cables)

    • Written by from kent

bought my macbook in 2011 and i have replaced the chargers for 3 times. this will be the fourth time me spending 80 dollars to buy a replacement charger. come on apple!!! i dont mean to criticize, but 4 chargers in less than 3 years is ridiculous. not to mention, it costs 80 bucks each.
apple really needs to rethink the design of these chargers.

    Broke. Frayed END. Low quality.

    • Written by from Dayton

The electrical cord near the computer end frayed. The wire split open. Low quality. I had to wrap it in electrical tape. Amazing Apple would sell something of such low quality. Destroys their reputation. Don't they get it? Obviously ZERO quality control.
