I wish I could give this negative stars

    • Written by from Wetumpka

I love Apple products. I wouldn't go back to a PC for personal or professional use. I absolutely hate this charger. Yes hate is a strong word but I am about to buy my 4th charger. It is ridiculous that this charger will just quit working after a year or two. I have no choice but to buy another.

    0 Stars if I could

3 years, 3 power adapters, such a shoddy product. Everything else about my MacBook is great, except for this flawed design. I'm unsure why Apple just doesn't redesign the transformer to have the cord be able to be removed so you can just purchase a $10 wire if yours breaks vs. an $80 whole product, similar to how most windows laptops work, as well as the chargers for all other Apple products.

    Poorly designed

    • Written by from Toronto

well after years, by adapter finally died. I have noted for awhile that I would have to giggle it around to get it to charge my macbook pro.... seemed like a poor connection.

Finally today, I had my macbook plugged in when i heard cracking sound, then the smell of burning plastic .... it was coming form my adapter, there was actually a flame in the wall outlet. I quickly unplugged, the prongs looking brown and the plastic casing beginning to melt!

Apple needs to seriously fix this issue!

4 power adapters in 4 years

    • Written by from Elyria

These things should be buy one get one free. They suddenly die, seemingly on queue, after 1 calendar year. We just got our 4th in 4 years. We have two Lenovo laptops, neither of which have ever needed an AC adapter replacement (one is 6 years old). The quality of this product is an embarrassment. Apple needs to step up their game by an order of magnitude.

    Poor design.

    • Written by from lexington

Second one to unravel at the connection point then stop charging. A replacement for that end, while keeping the existing power block, is well overdue given the poor design of this critical part.

    Poor Quality

This charger broke within a couple years of purchasing my macbook. It gets extremely hot and the cord has frayed, causing me to have to shell out money to buy a new one. I'm very unhappy with the quality of Apple products in general lately as I have had to fix my laptop 3 times since buying it even though I treat it like gold.

Poor quality and way too expensive

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Ordinarily, the quality and workmanship of Apple products is very good. But these magsafe power adaptors are very poorly constructed. The thin weak wire coming out of the adapter (that connects to the laptop) is attached to the adapter through a long rigid mounting, which causes the wire to always break after a few months. This is a long standing problem with these adapters and Apple needs to fix it if they're going to charge $80 for these things.

These Power Adapters Have Ruined My Mac Experience

    • Written by from Stone Mountain

I love my mac... EXCEPT these power adapters. I'm on my third. They only last a couple of months. Around a year at the most. Apple, you need to replace these with something sturdier. If you can't come up with something more durable, I will be forced to switch to a Dell.

    Does not last

    • Written by from Cumming

I am on my second power cord. Both have separated where the thin cord meets the power adapter. I am very disappointed because the power cords are expensive to replace and it is looking like it will be $79 every few years to replace. I read the troubleshooting article about strain relief and it doesn't even make sense for the place my cord has separated. There is never any strain on that part of the cord, it sits flat on the floor with plenty of slack in the cord. Please reinvent the power cord so it will last longer.

So tired of replacing these chargers

    • Written by from Shelton

I feel like I just replaced this charger and now I need another, because once again it has cracked and is no longer charging my MacBook. I've tried reinforcing it and preventing this, but nothing seems to work. Very poor design, but obviously Apple knows that with the 1,000+ 1 star reviews. Disappointing.

power adapter breaks too easily, needs re-design for sturdiness

    • Written by from San Rafael

I purchased a power adapter less than a year ago and I already need to replace it because it broke near the port. This will be the 2nd time I have needed to replace this. If you are going to charge $79.00 a pop. + tax I would at least like to feel confident that I have purchased a quality product that will last for the life of my computer. I have always been a fan of Apple, but my opinion of some of your recent products is starting to lessen. I don't want to see this company become like all the others that place profits before customer satisfaction.

    Pathetic quality

    • Written by from Gzb

This is simply rediculous. This is the second L-shape Apple 60W Magsafe Power Adaptor which has stopped working. I have macbook pro since past 3 years and had to purchase an additional adaptor. The second one also stopped working.
Apple should either work on its quality or should provide a free replacement service. After investing this heavy amount to own a macbook pro, if I have to continue purchasing (must say) expencive adapter every year, its not worth it.

Can apple please do something to rectify the issue, without charging a heafty amount of money from customer's pocket.

Like some of the other reviewers, I have had to replace my power adapters every 2 years as well. It's getting ridiculous. I know Apple can design one that doesn't fray and come apart so what's the hold up?

    Terrible product!

    • Written by from Roselle

Apple, what are you doing? Products used to last. This "newer" 60W MagSafe Power L-shaped Adapter lasted two years exactly. Two years!!! Does this mean I have to purchase adapters every two years now? It's ridiculous that they cost $79! I still have the original iPod and iPhone adapters and they're still going strong. How about improving this product? So disappointed with you. Is this how you treat your loyal customers? Listen to us!

and they asking me to pay $79 to replace it.I don't know how many other reviews apple would need to realize it that it is their issue. So many people cannot be so wrong. Apple you need to think.I have no other choice rather than 1 start at least.

Difficult to use, breaks often, and costs a fortune

    • Written by from Hixson

The grip for the plug that goes into the wall is tapered and slick. That makes it hard to unplug, as it takes a very firm grip to keep my fingers from sliding off.

The end that plugs into the laptop is also difficult to grip, because it is rounded and tiny. I have to try to wedge my fingertips/fingernails between the adapter and the laptop to unplug it. It's a pain in the neck.

Like many users, I have already had to replace my adapter twice because the cord frayed. I didn't abuse the first cord at all, and I was very careful with the second one.

As if the cords aren't bad enough to start with, the last one keeps trying to twist so that the adapter points at the ceiling instead of at the laptop. I have to twist it to plug it in, which can't be good for it. I tried turning the box (in the middle of the cord) up on end to force the magsafe end to go in the right direction, but then the cord coming out of the box sagged, and it was a pain to keep the box from falling over.

This adapter is a piece of junk that needs frequent replacements to the tune of $80 a pop.

This is literally my 5th charger that I've used for my macbook. I take very good care of my charger. I wrap it when it is not in use, and I make sure there are no kinks or bends in the chord. my chord is not frayed and none of them have been, and they KEPP BREAKING.
it is absolutely ridiculous. I've bought 4 new chargers, and I'm absolutely tired of it.
If I could give this 0 stars I would.
