    60w magsafe charger

    • Written by from Sanford

I would give this product negative stars if i could. I am on my fourth charger and soon will be on my fifth. It looks like the small pins that charge the computer loose there spring action making them not connect to the charging terminals. You can expect this product to last six to twelve months.

    8th time is the charm?

    • Written by from Marlton

Absolutely terrible. I bought my most recent magsafe charger two months ago, and it has already broken. That was my seventh charger in three and a half years. I make sure to take good care of my chargers, too. I do exactly what Apple says, I use the clip to make sure the "L" head doesn't get bent, and I wrap the rest of the wire with a loop on the end to ensure it doesn't break. None of this matters, clearly, as there are no signs of physical damage, yet the chargers always burn out. Apple then chargers $80 for a product that any other company would recall. Completely unsatisfied.

    This product needs serious work.....

    • Written by from Ottawa

I love everything about my Mac, it is going strong six years since I purchased it, but the power adapters are absolutely atrocious. In particular, the cord keeps fraying at the part where the white box transitions into the cable that leads to the computer. I bought one of these less than a month ago and despite assiduously following all the instructions, less than a month of moderate use already sees the cord showing signs of fraying. It simply is not viable to keep spending $80.00 a month on power adapters. Unless Apple releases a fix for this, I am afraid I am going to switch back to PCs for my next laptop.

Worst power cord ever- it deserves 0 stars. This isn't rocket science, folks. My toaster has a better power cord and even I could design something better than this. Good luck Apple.

If I could rate it ZERO stars I would

    • Written by from High Point

Limit my review to 300 words or less? Where to begin…1.5 stars with 1800 reviews. That says a lot on its own. This is the FOURTH charger I've bought, FOUR. And I am not happy about it. You're selling me a $2000 computer, Apple. All I'm asking for is a CHARGER THAT WORKS. One that lasts longer than six months. This is unacceptable. Just madness.

Why hasn't this been recalled and fixed yet.

    • Written by from Madison

I have had problems with these chargers for years and with two separate computers. Its the only think I have ever had to use my Apple Care on. Three chargers have stopped working in as many years and I just replaced one this June and it has already stopped working after only 5 months!! Even when it is plugged into a surge protector the charger gets extremely, dangerously hot. Apple's offers up only excuses as to why these stop working and blame the consumer for not using them properly. Excuse me? We also have had a PC in our household for over 4 year and have never had any problems with its charger. There really should be a petition to get apple to fix these or replace them free of charge when they inevitably stop working.

    No problems

    • Written by from Missoula

Three months on works perfectly. My old one lasted five years, and I see no reason this one won't. The only caveat is that, as a minor electronics geek, I have learned to care for cables that I can't afford to have break. All flexible cables have weak spots where they enter and exit other parts and components. I abandoned the fold-out hooks on my old adapter and this one too because of the angle where the cord exits the brick. Pulling the cord at ninety degrees to wrap it will make it fail sooner. I also never pull on the cord to release the MagSafe. Take simple precautions and this will last years.

At 80$ a pop your Macbook costs much more than you think

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I'm off to buy my third replacement cord. At $80 a pop, my macbook pro is costing me roughly 20% more than my original purchase price. I've never had to replace a PC laptops power supply. Very disappointing that Apple can't come up with a durable design for the charger's connectors..

    terrible

    • Written by from New York

This has to be my third replacement MagSafe already. First two just stopped working after about 3 -4 months of gentle use, at the latest replacement the plastic wire cover just came apart and exposed the wires which started to fray shortly thereafter. Terrible quality.

    • Written by from APO

80 DOLLARS? REALLY? This is messed up. I'd probably wouldn't have so much resentment towards the charger if it wasn't so expensive! It breaks way too easily. It's not durable in any way possible. FIX THIS APPLE! Give us a better alternative, I even wouldn't mind paying 80 dollars if the stuff wouldn't break!

    Second thoughts

    • Written by from Ottawa

I have had a pc before I got my mac and absolutely fell in love with it. I thought the charge cord was a really cool feature being magnetic and all, but now out of the blue it just stopped working. I charged my computer 2 days ago and it charged to 100% life, and I put the cord away like I always do and now it's just not work. I can't even give a reason for it not working right not but here my computer sits on the Not Charging screen. I went online to see how much it would be to replace it because I have only had the computer for a year. Seeing it was 79 bucks, I thought I would read the reviews before I went any farthing into the investment, and sadly, I don't like what I see. EVERYONE is unhappy with this charger. And it isn't even the charge cord it's the metal piece that goes into the computer that isn't working! Why can't we just replace the part that we need without having to buy the whole dang thing?!! Apple,.. some on, you make enough money to lower you price on some things, especially on something that doesn't work right. I don't think I'm going to buy another cord, I think I'll just wait till this one quits working altogether and just get a PC.. *sigh*

Lifespan of 1 yr? Come on, Apple...

    • Written by from Galloway

These are terrible. I've owned two and they've BOTH self-destructed after less than a year of ownership. Needless to say I'm definitely not dropping another $80 on a cable that's poorly made and will last me another year.

    Broken again

    • Written by from Skillman

This is the third time that this Mac power supply has broken. It is always the same problem: the connection between the thin cable (from the computer) and the adapter (right at the adapter) has torn. I wiggle this to re-connect the cable and the current. Occasionally, as expected, there are sparks between the two torn parts of the wire. This has been a problem in the past for me and thus was incredibly careful when handling the adapter. I want to look for another manufacturer of the adapter since I do like the Mac computer.

I'm a student, saving up for a Mac Book Pro was a struggle enough now i have to replace the power adapter constantly! Not only that but to have them just rip and break all the time means that I can't hand in my work! Thanks for making my academic career that much more of a struggle Apple. Thank you.

would give 0 stars if I would

    • Written by from Singapore

I've had 2 of these. The insulation on both near the connector to the laptop started falling apart in less than a year on both. I've got an appointment with a freaking genius on tuesday - if they don't replace it I'm going to scream. Plus, why do they cost so much anyway? Especially if they don't last anything like a reasonable amount of time? And going by the other reviews here, this is a known problem, Apple. Looks like you're out of ideas on this one. If the next power cord I have does the same thing, my next laptop is going to be a thinkpad.

1500+ bad reviews vs. -200 good? Yes, there is a problem!

    • Written by from Reno

The original T style adapter quit working after about a year. I was lucky enough to get a free replacement with the new L style one. From day one I have hated the "sticky" insulation on the new cords and now the insulation on the DC cord, about 2 inches from the L plug, has split and exposed the wiring inside. So, I am now in the market for a 3rd adapter in about 2 years. Come on Apple, more than 1500 1 and 2 star reviews vs. less than 200 4 and 5 star reviews? There is a problem with this product!
