    Just purchased my 3rd charger for my MacBook

    I love apple. I own an imac, macbook, iphone, ipad, and an ipod. However, simply stated, this charger is terrible. I am on my third charger for the same computer. Despite thousands of complaints on numerous online forums, apple customer service will not acknowledge the issue, and therefore has refused to provide me with a free replacement. Own the issue apple! Offer at least one free lifetime replacement. For something as simple as a power cord (very much a context item) it is a shame that you will no doubt loose some of your core customers.

    Faulty design

    I bought my mac book pro in 2010 ( first ever mac) and I now have to buy my third power cord. I transport my mac back and forth to school everyday, this means wrapping the cord in the morning then unwrapping and then again at night when I go home. so twice a day 7 days a week. I stopped using the included prongs to wrap it as it was too tight and I could see the wires twisting inside this was before the first one broke "T" style at the computer and the adapter box. The one that broke just now broke at the box on the computer side and the entire life of this cord I would loosely coil the two cords together and put in my bag. The high cost and the multiple breaks is unacceptable. I just started grad school and was planning on getting a new mac as this one no longer keeps up with the demands of Architecture school. Some of the needed programs do not work with a mac but I was going to try powering through with bootcamp but this may be the reason I change my mind as Im still a few months out from upgrading and now Im having to buy a new cord before hand. I was a PC guy before I may be again.

    Lasted just long enough to not be under warranty

    This thing lasted just long enough to no longer be covered by the one year warranty. I took it to an apple store and was told I had to buy a brand new one. A charger that lasts one year? Jeez.

    The Worst

    I love Apple. For about 4 years, I've been using all their products (iPod Touch, Macbook Pro, iPhone) and I don't plan to stop. About 2 years after buying my Macbook Pro, I bought a second charger because I assumed was my fault. I bought a THIRD charger less than 3 months later to my complete surprise. That one managed to last me until now, where I will have to buy a fourth adapter over 2 years. Ridiculous. I love you Apple, please fix this NOW.

    My son has had his 13-inch MacBook Pro for 3 years and he's going on his third power adapter! Apple it's 2014! Aren't you reading the comments from your customers?????

    Wear out too easily

    I have had to replace this adapter once already, now I have to replace it again. It wears out too easily. It seems like Apple purposely engineered their cords cheep so you have to continually replace them. We have the same problems with our iPhone adapters. They wear out by the end that plugs into the device. I love the magnetic element, as well as the LED and portability. Unfortunately, anything that requires replacement on such a consistent basis deserves less than one star, which is what I'd give it if I could.

    Designed to Fail

    Piece of JUNK!! First power cord lasted an expected number of years, however the new power cord is poor quality and lasted less than a year!! Apple has obviously moved toward poor product quality....and what choice do you have but buy another one if you have a Mac product. Designed to fail is what I say, 'cause hey...why make a quality product when you know your consumer will have to buy it time and time again, especially at $75 bucks a pop!! Shame on you Apple.

    GET A PC

    Worthless product. The most these power cords last are 1 year (If your really lucky and never take it anywhere. I am on my 5th power cord for my 3 year old mac. For my multiple PC's that I have owned... I have never had to buy more then the one that it comes with. Never buying a Mac again because of these money hungry worthless products. GET A PC.

    Apple - Why haven't you fixed the issues with these?

    There are so many one stars on this product, and all for the same reason! Charger doesn't last and gets extremely hot and is ridiculously expensive (esp. given all the complaints). These chargers have a life span of months to a year, both my partner and I have had to replace chargers and the newest ones we have, after only about 8 months, are crapping out on us. The rubber is just falling apart and the wires underneath are fraying out, they make weird sounds when connected, you have to move them to make sure they even work, plus they get extremely hot - and these were treated delicately after so many failures before. It seems like Apple is taking advantage of us! Why haven't these been changed and where is the customer service? This is pretty appalling.

    My charging too broke. I love apple products, but this charge does not really so good. I do not want every time to pay $ 80 for this product, it is expensive for this quality.

    Fell apart after a year of minimal use. Exposed wires, the whole thing. Even worse than the old T-shaped ones. At least that one lasted for 3 years before falling apart.

    60W MagSafe Power Adapter broke

    After 2 years of use the cord broke internally just at the adapter. This part should be more flexible and resistant as it receives a lot of "bending".
    Apple should review the design and produce a better model suited with the laptop design and durability.

    Making me consider not getting a mac next

    Look, apple, I get that you make money when people need to replace their charger, but you are asking too much of us. These things do not hold up AT ALL. I can't afford to shell out about 70 dollars each time to replace my charger. It's a shame, because I like my macbook Pro, but next time I need to replace my computer, the charger issue may make me go with a different computer brand altogether.

    Designed to Fail

    Everyone I know has used electrical tape and everything to keep the wires on their power supply from breaking. The insulation splits and opens up exposing the wires. Probably a fire risk and certainly soon to fail completely. This never happened after years of bag packing Dells and other laptops. This might be expected after a year or two but not within months with machines hardly moved. This is very bad design and just thickening and tapering the rubber would work to ensure a much longer life. This might cost less than a dollar. Shame on Apple for allowing their customers down when we expect only the best in design from Apple. I have resorted to adding a piece of flexible irrigation (drip) tubing over the attachment point to keep the wire from dangerous flexing.

    Deeply disappointed

    I have the 13-inch 2008 MacBook. I had the T-shaped Power Adapter and worked for four years! Then suddenly, it got a little worn down and quit working. I thought, "Okay, this is kind of old. I can see why it stopped working." So I pulled money and bought a new pretty L shaped Power Adapter. Three months later--broken. Wiggling it won't even help. I am a university student with papers to write, two online classes, and now I have a Skype interview for a teaching position...with no computer. I can't just fish $80 from my crack to pay for a new one that may or may not work. I am so angry right now because I am using a local library's computer and having to choose between using this computer for my school (inconvenience) or buying an expensive adapter that probably will fail too! Ugh!!

    A new year, a new power cord

    I got my Macbook in 2010. Since then, I have already replaced my power cord two times and it looks like I'll be buying my third replacement (fourth cord, total) in less than four years of owning my device. At $80 a pop, I can barely stomach it. I've had other issues with my device in general and Apple's care and service has been great. But this is absolutely absurd. For the amount of money that I invest into this equipment that I need for work and school, I shouldn't have to worry about the power cord failing every time I turn around.

    Disgrace and shame for an Apple product

    I am amazed at how a company that makes such awesome computers and iPods, can make such lousy chargers. Honestly. We need to buy a new charger every few months. I bet we have soon spent more money on buying chargers than on the laptops themselves. What a disgrace! Honestly. The poor quality of the chargers is REASON ENOUGH for me not to want to buy apple's products ever again. I mean. Aplle's products are good, but when you consider that you have to pay for a new cable every few months, it quickly makes it not worth it. I wish Apple would compensate me somehow. I have bought no less than five chargers so far, and I'm sorely disappointed :(
