    Terrible magsafe power adapter

    I am on my third power adapeter for macbook pro now. They have a terrible quality on the isolation. The rubber dries out and cracks, go the whole chord comes apart, especially in the ends where it connects to the magnetic mac adapter, and in the other end where it connects to the power adapter. I am tired of spending $100 every year for poor design and quality so the wire is now covered in black electricians tape. We'll see how long it takes before another crack appears.

    Get yourself together Mr. Mac!

    worst product ever

    unbelievable that i spent what i did to buy my macbook pro and the charger is such poor quality. i really hope apple notices the amount of bad reviews about this product and does something about it. their computers are so great but this charger is terrible. but im sure they don't mind half of their chargers breaking JUST after the 1 year warranty runs out - they must make a fortune on replacement chargers.

    Does not Last AT ALL.

    I am a University student, and when my dad took me out to buy a laptop, I fell in love with the 13" Mac Book Pro. I am currently a junior, and I am about to order my FOURTH charger. I don't know WHY these chargers do not last, but my homework is all writing and internet extensive. PLEASE, PLEASE, do something about the design to help make it last. Sometimes they only last a few months, this recent one has almost made it a year. But that's not good enough.

    I thought Apple stood by their products?!

    Just like the others, my cord would work intermittently at first, depending on how much I jiggle the cord, now it doesn't work at all and I haven't even had my laptop a year :(
    I love my Macbook but I'm really disappointed that Apple is not addressing this HUGE issue! I'll think twice before recommending their products anymore

    Buyer Beware

    I have had my MacBook Pro for 18 months and I am about to purchase my third power adapter. The design of the power cord is significantly flawed as the magnetic part detaches from the rest of the cord. I do not place stress on my power cord, it doesn't get thrown into bags, I don't spin in circles while holding my computer, or even have it in a place where stress is placed on the cord, yet they continue to break. Beware.

    Terrible!!!! Lasted 3 months. It better be under warrantee. I just bought my Macbook Pro at the towards the end of Oct. 2011, and I bought Apple care so I'm expecting this to be covered. I am new to Mac, and instantly fell in love with OS X. But the hardware is garbage. My screen hinge broke within the first month and a half, took a week to get it fixed, now this. Just another inconvenience.

    Come on Apple, it is long past time you made these sturdier. Or, make it possible to replace the cord at a cheaper price. It just isn't reasonable to treat a power adapter as a consumable.

    Failure

    This is the main focus of my apple frustrations (i have others) the product can't handle anything. In owning a macbook for one year i had one fail by itself, one fail when falling from not even a foot and one fail due to poor design. Apple work on this! The simple fact that in my warranty period i had to have this replaced 3 times (paying for it three times) is a simple disgrace for your brand

    I hate MacBook chargers.

    I am on my 4th MacBook charger in the past 3 years. These things just do not last. I have used both the old and new designs and neither are reliable. The charger I am using now barely connects and I have to fidget around with it for it to work properly. Apple needs to come up with a new design.

    I am about to order a new charger, just because I have to, not because I like them.

    My cord went out just like everyone else in here and i have had this mac for a little over a year and I'm not happy that i have to spend more money on a cord that should work. To me that doesn't make any sense whats so ever. The mac book is great but replacing a charger that goes out is not good at all.

    Freaking HORRIBLE!!

    I bought my first Mac in August 2010 and I needed to buy a new charger four months later! It just stopped charging and purchased a new one for over$70. Ridiculous! As much as I pay for the sleek, efficient mac book I would expect just as good quality when it comes to accessories but I guess Apple needs to get its extra buck in somewhere. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED...

    Terrible!

    I must buy a zillion of these things a year! They are so terrible... I learned early how non-durable these things are and have thus treated them like fine china, but has that helped extend their lifespan? Not. At. All. I bought one about two months ago and it's just died on me. Another $70 dollars down the drain! I think I've spent enough money replacing chargers the past five or so years that I could have bought myself a brand new macbook pro!

    I've had my Macbook for less than a year and my charger just went out. I wish it would have lasted longer than 9 months considering I paid a lot of money for the computer itself and need it to be charged for schoolwork. If the price wasn't so high it would make the situation a lot less frustrating.

    My husband just got back from buying our THIRD power cord since we got this computer a couple of years ago. Its ridiculous!! Why in the heck do they wear out so fast. That should not be happening and I am very disappointed!!!!

    285 REVIEWS AND ONLY 1.5 STARS??? I BOUGHT THIS EXPENSIVE LAPTOP IN DECEMBER 2010 AND THE CORD(CHARGER) NO LONGER WORKS. IS APPLE GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? I AM INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT.

    Have been a customer since 1987, but it seems the quality is going down with the more customers you get!

    I'm on charger #3 -- As soon as I took it out of the package I taped both ends where the cord breaks. (choosing to save another $79 replacement over beauty....Steve would NOT approve!!)

    It's been 4 months, and the charge light is flickering on and off. I removed the tape, and surprise! The cord is breaking again!!!!

    Good thing I own APL stock....at least I'm getting a return there!

    I don't understand how a company can hear complaint after complaint about a product and as its solution, offers the same inferior product. Apple is a brand that promotes brand exclusivity through the functions/features of its products and accessories. This is a smart business plan and lets users access cutting edge features that are user friendly. We pay a premium to access these features by buying Apple products. But in this instance, it's only a drawback for the MagSafe Power Adapter and it makes me feel like an **expletive** for buying any of this company's products. Apple has software updates to fix bugs that users report to make a better product for its software. Yet when Apple hears its consumers' reports on the inferior quality on its chargers, its solution is to ignore it and sell a cheap product for a huge mark up!! These adapters can't stand up to the everyday use that its require of them, most barely lasting a year. And when I try to heed GeniusBar's advice to prolong the longevity of the product, any advice given to me fails to prolong the lifespan. And at least once sometimes twice a year I am stuck with a perfectly good computer that I cannot use because one of the least technical aspects of the system doesn't function.

    Worse charger ever

    I now have to buy a 5th charge cord for my 3 year old Macbook pro. It's so frustrating the last one I bought on October 30 so it's only 2 months old. It just stopped working like the other 3 cords did. This really needs to be fixed it makes me mad to have to keep spending so much money on a cord!!!I love my Apple products but I'm thinking I may go with something else the next time I buy a new computer.

    I have my mac book for two years, I am buying my third power cord. It is very flimsy, cover on wires easily damaged, wires brake. Expensive to replace.

    Good but overpriced

    I have had my MacBook Pro 13" for over 3 years and the power adapter is just now starting to malfunction. Although I am disappointed with the price, mine did seem to last longer than a lot of the other reviews that I have read on here. I'm hoping that since it's been 3 years they've made improvements to it. But, I agree that Apple needs to lower the price!!!! I was shocked when I saw how much it costs to replace it.
