    Great performance and easy setup

    • Written by from washington

I use the express at home to extend my iTunes to my stereo and a 2nd one to a boom box next to my patio. I had one of the older ones that died after about 6 years and I bought the new version to replace it. I wish it was a bit smaller and still had the integrated plug for travel, but performance is great and setup is easy. I've used lots of netgear and linksys routers and find this much easier to set up and range is very good.

Using as the Ethernet source to my HTR-4065 Yamaha

    • Written by from Vancouver

Just got a new 5.1 channel Yamaha receiver from Costco. It has AirPlay but only an ethernet port. I used the AirPort Express to wirelessly connect to my existing Linksys WRT400N dual band wireless router. The AirPort Utility walked me through the process although some of the questions the wizard asked me took some time to figure out and I did reset the unit to factory defaults a couple of times because I messed it up. Now the soft green light is on and my Yamaha stereo is happy. The AirPlay feature on my iPhone actally wakes the receiver up from standby and out comes music. Too cool

Had two other brand routers and had lots of wireless printing and airplay problems. Set this up in 2 minutes with my iphone and printing and airplay have not been a problem at all. Awesome! Finally a wireless router that actually works and is super easy to set up.

    Set up using my iPad!

    • Written by from Fort Collins

I have had a great experience with the original Airport Express...the new one is even better. I am now using it as my primary router for my home, driving other devices with an older router that is connected to the Airport Express Base Station (a really nice addition). The connections are much faster than with my Airport Express N. My MacBook Pro is very happy.

Since my cable modem lives in my basement, being able to run Airport Utility from my iPad mad the set up extremely painless. I even got a pop-up window instructing me to power cycle my cable modem...how thoughtful!

I fully understand the other comments regarding portability when traveling, but the new Airport Express exceeds my needs. Good job, Apple!

    Mac for setup required

    • Written by from Bronx

So I received this great product from my beautiful wife "BB" for fathers day...any who, i was excited! I wanted to setup the Airport Express right away, which i thought would take me just a couple of minutes. Lets just say this wasn't as fast to set up as Apple stated. After trying to use my iPad to setup, i finally resulted to using my MacBook. Pros: Using Airport Utility on my Macbook lets me easily change the channels for less-congested wifi. Plus, my internet is now quicker, (maybe cause i had a $20 router). Cons: I was only able to set up with my Macbook. I was unable to set up with iPad/iPhone. This took me about 15 minutes.

So Good, I own Five of Them!

    • Written by from Mount Dora

I first used the Gen I Express to create a wifi network in my apartment while on vacation in Italy. The landlord was so impressed, the next year he put them in all the apartments.

I use a Gen II (hard-wired) to extend the wifi upstairs in my old house. This little gem is so, so versatile. Also, I use three of them (Gen I) around my house to connect my various stereo systems to Airplay. You don't need to buy an Airplay receiver, just slap one of these babies on with a Toslink or RCA cable and you're good to go.

The only thing I would like to see is for it to have Gigabit ethernet jacks for faster throughput. Otherwise, it's perfect!

    Great little Product

    • Written by from the woodlands

I purchased two of these with the intent of networking thru my three story home and my base station being at the lowest level. I set up the main unit in minutes and it worked immediately . I then went about setting the second unit on my second floor. This was more of an issue and this is the reason for the one star loss. The instructions did not show how to have the devices network! I had to in the end to talk to the Apple help line which the first person struggled and then the manager come on and explained a very simple solution. This was so simple it should have been in the small instruction booklet.
I also take the unit on vacation with me so i ensure i have great wirless. I went to Mexico where the reviews showed poor reception in the rooms and connected the airport to the hardwire and immeditaly my apple devises were up and running.

    Ethernet Network Extender

    • Written by from Worthington

I got this since wireless coverage is poor in the master bedroom of our house - just too far away from the Time Capsule. I had run ethernet years ago but plugging computers in is such a pain I always just dealt with the slow speed. Then, I saw this device.

I initially plugged it into wall power and used my iPhone to set it up as a wireless repeater - easy set up worked like a charm. Then, I got to thinking that I could use the ethernet to use this to extend my wireless network via the ethernet - much faster.

I read an extensive post here on how to do that and tried to follow that but it did not work - looks like that was written prior to the most recent updates. I reset the unit, plugged the ethernet from the Time Capsule into the WAN port (sun symbol) and fired up Airport Utility on my MacBook Pro. It figured out just what I was doing and set everything up for me. Now - fast wireless speed all through the house. Well worth the cost (especially as I had a gift certificate from a nice relative!)

    Love Apple

    • Written by from Madison

Walked into the Apple Store with my kids, & got pointed to the Acc's wall. Grabbed the AP Base Station box, about the size of my fist. Walked to one of the 50 associates on the clock. Checked out in 24 seconds. Left.

Total time of transaction — 2 min's tops (maybe less).

Got home. Total setup time — 4 min's tops.

I could have ordered over the Web with free shipping — but I wanted to swing by the store again.

    Why? B/c it's beautiful.

    I. Love. Apple.

    Life Changing

    • Written by from Peterborough

Ive had this router for six months now and it is flawless. Unlike previous third party routers that constantly crash and need to be power cycled - Ive never once needed to restart this Express and my connection on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone is consistent and never drops. Yes, its pricey, but you get what you pay for. Wireless speakers and printing are just icing on the cake.

    Flawless and easy set up

    • Written by from South Orange

Bought an AP Express to extend my network from an Extreme Base Station since I am in a ranch type house and the reach of the network on one side the house would leave speed and connectivity some room for improvements.

Very happy, received, connected in a snap, and Voila! The connection is that side of the house is now super fast (FIOS) and no regret, this thing work marvels!

The best router I have used

    • Written by from orlando

First let me say I have used a large amount of different routers over the past 12 years. This is the first router that has never disconnected regardless if it's the MacBook Pro with the retina display, standard MacBook, Xbox 360, iPhone or iPad. My current Internet connection is 40 GB per second download 5 GB per second upload it has never dropped or lost signal while playing video games, downloading apps, etc. It does have only one RJ-45 output but everything in my house is wireless so that does not bother me at all. As for the configuration it was all automatically configured and the only configuring I did with the Apple airport express was to create a second network for guest users and set up passwords. The Apple airplay and network printer/scanner was all plug-and-play and required no configuring whatsoever. I've had this express base Station for a couple months and had zero problems with it so I highly recommend this product and I definitely give it a five out of five.

Bought this product yesterday to replace the older airport express because I use this to extend my range and works like a charm. Pretty much no setup process and my Time Capsule did all the work for me. Now my electronics on the other side of the house moves at blazing speeds. A MUST BUY!!!!!!

    Better Than Ever!

    • Written by from Seattle

Just purchased a new, Airport Express, and set it up with my existing Airport Extreme. I've been using Airport Expresses for years now, and the setup process was so simple, and quick, I really am surprised! It works great, and we now have solid reception, every in the house.

This is the best Express, yet, and am so glad I added it to our home network.
