    Problem solver

    • Written by from simpsonville

Replaced a 2 year old netgear n600 with this router and aside from having to update the firmware this thing has been a dream. Speedtest increased by 6mbps and no more connectivity issues. Connected to a charter cable modem this thing makes the best wifi network I've ever had.. Wifi kept dropping randomly And had no idea why, I live in a subdivision and the best I can guess there were interference issues with my old router but as soon as I got this one rolling and updated all is well. Aside from having to install airport utility app on my ipad from jump this thing has taken care of all of my problems. On top of that these things are easily chained to eliminate dead spots around your house.. I will be getting another one to put upstairs to strengthen my signal soon... It's also tiny so it takes up less than 50% of the space my old one did and it runs nice and cool so ventilation isn't an issue. Thanks again apple!

    Fantastic!

Purchased an airport express to extend wireless signal into my bedroom which had very poor coverage. I use an airport extreme as my primary router. Within minutes of opening the box, my bedroom had great wifi coverage. Great product. Very easy set up. Seamless integration with other apple products. Great purchase. Thanks, Apple!

    Airport Express 70% speed boost

    • Written by from Eden

I just added an Airport Express to my network yesterday to allow more simultaneous devices to be connected, and to setup a guest network. The installation had one small problem - I received an error message - "an unexpected error occurred. Please try again". The written setup guide that came with the Airport Express indicated that if there were any problems the first thing to try is powering down the modem and Airport Express, then power back up. Once I did that, everything was flawless. Now the best news - I did speed tests before and after on what was already a fast home network. The download speeds increased by a minimum of 70%. The system has been operating flawlessly and we can now connect our 10 devices without any problem, and still have 40 additional connections left over. Very impressive piece of equipment from Apple.

    Great little router

    • Written by from Longwood

I purchased this router to replace a Cisco router that was at least 4 years old and had a very weak/no signal in some of the rooms of my single story, 1900 sq. ft. house.

The new router was very easy to setup and took less than 10 min. When I setup the router, I used the same network name, password and password security (PSA/PSA2/etc) my old router used. I took this action to eliminate the need to change the network name/password on all of the devices I use (laptop, printer, IPod, etc).

I now get a signal in every room of my house. The Apple router is worth the price.

No connect to Yamaha Disklavier via wireless bridge to Airport Extreme

    • Written by from Victoria

I have spent several days trying to configure this jewel-like piece of junk. Running Lion 10.7.5 and Mountain Lion 10.8.3, Airport Utility 6.x (AU6.x) auto configure does not enable detection of piano using Yamaha's iPhone Disklavier App. Apple Airport 6.x has no manual configuration capability. For that you need a nonstandard install of Airport Utility 5.6 or 5.6.1 (depending on your Mac OS X version). Infuriating!

    Serious Design Fault Jony...

    • Written by from Hassocks

Perormance, setup etc. is fine, as expected, but placing of the AC input connector next to the WAN connector means that the unit has to be used with a cable for the AC, and the standard Apple AC plug adaptor cannot be used to plug the unit directly into an AC socket, as the adaptor overlaps the WAN connector. Means I have to carry an extra cable with me when on the road. Not good.
Why not swap over the WAN and ethernet connectors, as the latter is not used by most people...

    Very Bad

    • Written by from South Jordan

Says it can connect with 50 devices without slowing down. My family barely has 10 connected to it and the connections are terrible and speeds are 10x slower than my previous router.

    Great experience

    • Written by from Decatur

Router is super easy to set up. Now after two years of use, it still works perfectly. Great buy for a lower-range "Apple enabled" network (i.e. Airplay, Time Machine, etc.). Highly recommended for Apple users and PC users alike. Management is definitely more streamlined on Apple devices but I use the PC app now and then and it still has all the features and ease of use. Buy it!!

    Great Router

    • Written by from Oakville

I have owned many routers throughout the years, a few good ones and most not so good. Lately, I wasn't able to find a router that is relatively fast and doesn't restart frequently. Belkin, TP-Link, Linksys, with factory framework, with open-source framework... all had the same problem: the moment the load is relatively heavy... bammm.... they restart....

That cycle ended when I got my new AirPort Express..... so far it's doing a fantastic job.... especially considering it's located in a different level and is connected to wirelessly to my Apple TV.

    Very very happy! Highly Recommended!

Useful in CONCRETE & STEEL building!!

    • Written by from Ottawa

Awesome product. I have two of these bouncing the signal to the furthest recesses of my house. I live in a 3000+ sq. ft. concrete house with steel paned concrete slabs, rebar in concrete and OWS joists between floors. Main router is in my basement and I have two of these boxes (on each of the two floors above). Works fantastically well. Noteworthy: my version is the older one (one box is 3 years old and the other is 2), this newer version must be better. p.s. - I don't work for Apple : )

    Excellent Update

    • Written by from Duncan

I recently bought the latest AirPort Express, to replace my first generation AE which had been cutting my wi-fi connection in and out too frequently. I couldn't be happier with the new device. There has been NO loss of signal since I set it up last week. Not just that, but it's producing faster loading results.

Best purchase I've made in a long while.

I bought this at my university bookstore to replace my Linksys E900....its great and stable and all my devices connect flawlessly...everything from my Mac, Ipads, Iphones, android devices, along with all my PCs connect with no issues, and no dropping of signal or freezing of network...its fast enough for everything I do, and my internet throughput increased to my maximum upload and download speed for my ISP...

Don't know whay so many people had problems (get the Airport Utility APP!)

    • Written by from Moyock

From the moment you power the router on using my iPhone to program it was the easiest setup of a router I've even done. I'm using it with a Vonage adapter and a original Xbox using Ethernet and both work fine. Without the App (Airport utility) you can don the basics of the wireless setup but the router did want to go into bridge mode as it was plugged into the Vonage and was continuing that (makes sense if that's what I wanted)
Using the airport utility I was able to set it up as it's own router so it was separate than the Vonage and having the Xbox then plugged into the Ethernet port of the express allows my iPhone, computers etc to see it. I was also able to set up the XBOX on a DMZ zone allowing all access to it so my NAT type was open. With the app also you can set up a wireless printer easily using WPS.
Everything you can do on most routers this makes it easy using the app. If you have a computer can can even more options than the app gives you, again you just have to install the airport utility on those if you want to configure the router from them.

I originally have 2 Linksys router, I replaced the 1 with a newer one, then replaced that with the apple router. Both routers before I was forever unplugging the router at least once a month sometimes once a week or even once a day to get them going again. The apple I can honestly say been using it for about 6 months and not have to reboot it once.
    Great router!!

    Such Excellence

    • Written by

We are IT professionals, and just replaced our 13 (yes 13) year old AirPort with AirPort Express. While we can troubleshoot anything, we really appreciate not having to! This was plug-and-play, and the performance is excellent. And as always, we also appreciate the great design.

And a tribute to our 2001 AirPort. It worked wonderfully for all those years, only now failing. We haven't been able to use the AirPort Utility for years as the old device was not supported, but it did not matter. How many technologies work for 13 years????
