    Better than expected!

    • Written by from Jackson

Purchased the Airport Express in order to replace an aging Netgear router that began dropping signal. The setup was a breeze on my MBP, less than two minute in total. I keep the modem and router in the basement but even on the second floor of my townhouse download speeds are blazing. My XBox One, which is on the second floor is showing nearly a tripling of speed, showing a download speed of 28 Mbps and an upload of 7 Mbps. The device itself is of solid construction and much smaller than anticipated. I have two gripes though, it only has one LAN output and that I didn't purchase this sooner.

Very easy to set up. Well worth the price. Has never dropped me or any of the devices on the network. I often have friends over who connect their devices and I also use it for airplay. Works wonderfully.

    Great Router

    • Written by from Oakville

I have owned many routers throughout the years, a few good ones and most not so good. Lately, I wasn't able to find a router that is relatively fast and doesn't restart frequently. Belkin, TP-Link, Linksys, with factory framework, with open-source framework... all had the same problem: the moment the load is relatively heavy... bammm.... they restart....

That cycle ended when I got my new AirPort Express..... so far it's doing a fantastic job.... especially considering it's located in a different level and is connected to wirelessly to my Apple TV.

    Very very happy! Highly Recommended!

    FLAWLESS-Another great apple product!!!

    • Written by from Dickinson

I have not had any problems with this product and have had it for going on 8 months.
It was an addition to my existing home (1,800 Sq ft) network. 3TB time Capsule, AirPort Extreme and 1st Gen. AirPort (1st fl streaming) Express.

Modem and Time Capsule are on 1st fl. and this unit is on 2nd fl. about 40' apart through a concrete wall and floor. This is my only wired connection.

I use it to extend my network on 2nd fl for Apple TV, streaming music and surfing the net.

I have read many of the lower rated reviews and as with any router- location is very important. Avoid electrical interference. Do not try to hide this unit if you expect great range-place at desk to shoulder height.

Easy to set up with AirPort Extreme. It took longer to unwrap the airport express then to set it up. Life is good when things go together that easy.

    Very Easy - Bought 2

    • Written by from Ilford

Plug& Play. very easy to setup, used for extending an Airport Extreme via WiFi and it works well. Is reliable. Do not use it for audio as the positioning of the Express is geared to WiFi coverage rather than anything else. Best part of this is that as a WiFi extender the is no ugly transformer plug, it's built in which is the way all these units should be.

    AIRPORT EXPRESS

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I needed a router for my DSL connection. I have the late Macbook pro with retina display for 2013. It works great with it. I'm not an apple product fan, but I love how apple products are in sync with one another. It connects all wireless products. My macbook pro comes with airport utility to set it up. U can also download it to your ipad, iphone, or android. Overall, this is a good product, but the price is costly.

    Lifesaver for electronic medical records

    • Written by from New Orleans

I have a Medical practice, and it is located in a narrow older building. I have a regular apple router by my reception desk, and it has never given me any problems. However, when I had to purchase two new computers, the software included windows 8. My old computers have windows 7. Unfortunately, I can't use Mac because my medical software isn't Mac compatible. Well, the new computers were located far from the router, and the signal was weak, and it would take me forever to input an exam. So, I did some research and found that I could extend the signal with the airport express. Now, it is tremendously fast! My husband suggested using the app on my phone install the router, but it did not work for me. Then, I went to my wifi settings on the iphone, and voila, it was a piece of cake. It took five minutes to extend the signal. I am very pleased with the result and the fast shipping. Thanks apple!!

    Great Alternative to Motorola Router

    • Written by from San Antonio

I moved into a student housing apartment and had a AT&T motorola DSL router which wouldn't broadcast a wifi signal to my Apple products. Only my Xbox 360 and HP laptop would get the wifi signal. So I finally gave up trying to fix the problem and bought an Airport Express! It worked on all my Apple products and window products without a glitch. Now I can get wifi on my iPad,iPhone,iMac,Apple TV along with the Xbox and laptop.
I highly recommend this to all my friends and associates!
Thanks Apple for coming through for me with the easy setup too!

    Skeptic from Reviews

    • Written by from Miami Beach

After reading so many reviews, I was a bit skeptic but I figured I have 14 days to try it then return if I didn't like it, so here it goes...

    MY STORY:

First of all I am using this device as a router. After buying, I did the setup (very easy by the way) and immediately started using it with the AirPlay (music) feature as well and connected it with speakers. I have had it for 3 weeks now and I haven't had a single issue with it. I spent $200 last year on a Linksys EA4500 router and from the start, the router often would not provide internet. I would have to restart it frequently to fix the issue but it would occur almost everyday. Until I got fed up and bought this one to replace it, which is a "downgrade" if you think about it.

    SPECS:

Anyway, once, in these three weeks I did experienced an internet connection loss but I noticed that the AirPort Express "recognized" this and restarted all on its own! I was sitting next to it when it occurred but 5 secs later I was back online. I would consider the WiFi range to be decent but I really can't say much in this matter because I live in a 1,000 sq ft apartment; so, I get full signal almost everywhere. On this product's specifications it doesn't state the transfer rate, so I tested it, and, depending on your device, you may get up to 300 Mbps. I've used this AirPort Express connected with a Motorola Surfboard (Modem), MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPads, AppleTV, Canon Printer and a Sony VAIO (Windows). They all work perfectly fine with it.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

    A great upgrade!

    • Written by from New Westminster

I upgraded from a previous router that was a different brand, and this is great! My laptop kept scrambling the lower band of my previous router, so I had to get a new one. I have lots of Apple gadgets, but own a desktop and laptop PC. Works great with all of them. Easy to setup and install. I like that it is small, like my Apple TV. Its a bit expensive for a router, but I've only ever had success with Apple products, so I'm happy with this purchase.

    Works Great

    • Written by from Price

I purchased this to use in my two bedroom apartment and have a clear signal from anywhere inside. I haven't run into any interference from my neighbors wifi, and so far the only trouble I have had has been because of my internet provider. Simple set-up, and the guest network is great. I can also connect from outside of my apartment and have been connected from about 100 feet away, but that is pushing the limit of how far it can reach. This has been the most reliable wireless router I have used.

    flawless plug and play

    • Written by from chicago

let me start by saying do not be afraid of this thing! it words like a charm, precisely as promised.

Anyone who gave this a poor review has either misapplied this device or simply doesn't know what they are talking about. I previously had a non-apple wireless router. coverage was inadequate so i purchased a non-apple range extender. absolute junk! Ughhh. What a nightmare experience! i spent hours on top of hours playing with config. As engineer by day, i know what i'm doing, and i can only imagine a novice attempting. i said, "to heck with this," and returned the device and said, "we just aren't' there yet. never again!"

I read some reviews and bought a airport extreme router. wow! got coverage where we previously didn't and speeds lightning fast (inSSIDer coverage detection software).

the airport extreme gave sufficient coverage, but still didn't have coverage in the far reaches upstairs. i was so afraid of this airport express, or any range extender, from my previous range extending experiences. I witnessed how well the apple setup worked at friends houses, and gave it a try. literally 2 mins and you're off to the races. nothing to mess with. it just plugs in, simple setup, and best of all IT WORKS!

last comment: i was afraid of the limited set up features. After owning for 2 wks, i am so glad there is nothing to mess with. it's perfect! my devices have no issues switching from extreme to express and back and forth. network speeds have not been effected. it works seamlessly, as all just mentioned were issues i've had with non-apple product. just spend the extra $$ and buy the apple product. the time saved and awesome performance is worth it. hope this helps any reluctant buyers.
