Awesome job all-around on this one!!!

    • Written by from Stockton

First of all, this thing just looks fabulous; it's the exact same shape and size as the Apple TV, so it looks great by it! It matches the Airport Extreme better as well. Also, I love that it now has two ethernet ports, one to connect it to the network (if you need it) and one to connect a computer (or Apple TV, etc). I myself use it to extend my home wireless network and it works very well, it is easy to set up and very fast. AirPlay is great too, I can now easily play music on my bedroom stereo from my MBP/iPhone/iPad. Apple, great job on this one!

Easy to Install, Easy to Use

    • Written by from Vancouver

To be honest I am not an expert of networking stuff. I have used many different kinds of wireless routers. While most of them do work, they need some knowledge to setup and maintain, many times I encountered unknown disconnections and I had to restart them and prayed the problems get solved.
Then I read a lot of information on AirPort, and Apple released the new generation, so I decided to get one. It ended up to be a great decision.
The install was really easy, just like all Apple products, and the AirPort Utility app gives great visual information on the networking, and changing setup is so easy too. Also the WiFi is very stable, all wireless devices working great! I never see the connectivity limited icon again!
Plus I haven't even put good use for the AirPlay function or connecting printer yet.
In conclusion, great product! Worth the money!

    Works with Uverse

    • Written by from Collinsville

I purchased the new AE to expand my wireless area in my house and allow for greater flexibility of device locations. I have a PC with Win 7 64 and my internet comes by way of AT&T Uverse. the RG Uverse supplies operates on 802.11g and my PC is wired in. I needed to move my PC to an area where there were no ethernet outlets and at temps of 105 outside, I really did not want to be in my attic running new wires. I also had some dead spots in my master suite. This little unit works like a charm, I had to use my iPad to configure it but there really was not much to it. My only complaint would be that I have no idea how to configure it with a PC. I am writing this review on my PC that is now wireless, and my iPad, iPhones, iPods and Apple TV's are all working perfectly and I can still connect to my set top boxes with my Uverse remote app. At a $100 bucks a pop you really can't beat the ease of connection. I may get one more for my master suite just so I can place my tv where ever I so desire.

    Love Apple

    • Written by from Madison

Walked into the Apple Store with my kids, & got pointed to the Acc's wall. Grabbed the AP Base Station box, about the size of my fist. Walked to one of the 50 associates on the clock. Checked out in 24 seconds. Left.

Total time of transaction — 2 min's tops (maybe less).

Got home. Total setup time — 4 min's tops.

I could have ordered over the Web with free shipping — but I wanted to swing by the store again.

    Why? B/c it's beautiful.

    I. Love. Apple.

Set-up was a breeze and the app works as a perfectly good companion. I had the old version for years but since there was wasn't a better option on the marked so far I was waiting for this.

    Great product

    • Written by from Richmond

Set-up was a breeze. It took about 5 mins. This was a fresh change from the old Dome looking Airport I had from years. I still have it, but the reason for the change was b/c the product kept losing conection to the web. Plus it has out lived its time. The size of the new base station has a very small foot print. Amazing how small this item is. Can't wait to try airplay speakers with it.

Great product, but it did not do what i needed it to do

    • Written by from Bonaire

let me say over all this product is great and easy to setup it follows the old version of this product. also my setup for the house is an old netgear wireless router in the back room then attached is the netgear power over ethernet plugs to extend the wired LAN, then across the house is the older gen router attached to the living room ethernet plug, and also one in my bed with older gen attached to the netgear power ethernet plug. each of the older gen are set up as create a network to extend the netgear wireless router which works perfect, (also using the AirPlay to the stereos in each room). the product worked great in setting up the create a network mode but would not allow the guest network to be used since i was only using the connection as a DHCP connection. after doing some research i found out that the connection had to be connected using DCHP and NAT for the guest network to work. but in my case that particular mode was conflicting with the wireless negtear router already using the DCHP and NAT connection, which overall was connflicting with the new apple express base station.

so overall i would suggest that the router be used as the main router to get the guest network to work and use the LAN port, to attach a good switch to add extra LAN connections, unless all of your devices are using a WLAN connection. this product world be best in a small house, dorm, appartment.

    Everything I had hoped for

    • Written by from Richfield

I bought the new Airport Express so I could move our old one from the porch into the garage (for AirPlay). Setup from my iPad took 3 minutes. The signal is now strong enough to stream Pandora and Netflix outside and AirPlay works without a hitch. I like the new form factor better - it's much easier to change the connections and hit the reset button without accidentally unplugging it.

Traveling with the old Express was great, and this one should be just as easy. I always bring an ethernet cable with when I travel, so bringing the power cable along too isn't an issue. Replacement power cables are also cheap, - I'll probably just buy an extra to keep in my backpack so I can just unplug the Express and head out the door.

    Powerful extender

    • Written by from Northfield

I have a spread-out house and had trouble getting Wi-Fi signal in the room farthest from the Extreme router, despite using several Expresses as extenders. I was giving up hope, then tried this new Express as the extender farthest from the router. It has changed my life – even though the intermediate extenders are old Expresses, the signal in the back room is incredibly strong due to the new Express. I will say, set up was not working well with the iPad — I had to use my Mac. But that worked fine, and now I'm one happy camper. The best $99 I can recall spending.

Had two other brand routers and had lots of wireless printing and airplay problems. Set this up in 2 minutes with my iphone and printing and airplay have not been a problem at all. Awesome! Finally a wireless router that actually works and is super easy to set up.

Unbelievable as an extender of a wifi network over enet (wireless roaming)

    • Written by from Indialantic

    Flat out solid.

The airport utility does not do a good job with a setup to bridge a wireless roaming network and I had to call support but after some simple steps it was all up and going. Now I have no dead spots and complete transparency as far as iPhones and whatnot care.

    Awesome, easy setup!

    • Written by from Foley

I counted five finger pokes I had to do on my iPad to set my new express up as a wireless extender to my airport extreme! No passwords required, no long setup process... Just plug in, find it in wifi, ask it to join your network and it's ready. It's that easy!

Works perfectly for my wireless needs. I have no issues with it. It's set as bridge mode as my firewall (pfsense) does all the rest. Airplay works well with all my other apple devices. Recommended

The Best $99 I've Spent So Far in This Century

    • Written by from GREENPORT

My office is on the second floor of my house built in 1832. My wife’s office with her PC was downstairs next to the laundry room. Because of the appliances, we could only provide access to the internet for her via a unit that used the electrical wiring of the house. She could not connect to my TC.
Now, the good news. She finally threw out the dreadful Dell replacing it with an iMac and we bought the Airport Express hoping the increased range would make the difference. It did and it only took 7.5 minutes to hook up. What’s more she wirelessly uses “our” printer and TC in my office and we both can play music through the living room’s sound system where we located the unit.
The best $99 I’ve spent so far in this century.

    excellent redesign

    • Written by from CHICAGO

don't be silly you guys. this is just as portable. just because you now have a 3 foot power cable in the mix, does not mean that you have to use something else. in fact, you can even use the same detachable 2 prong plug you are used to having, and insert that into the power receptacle of the new express. add to that the addition of a hard-wired ethernet port, and you now have way more functionality than you had with the previous version. you can usb share a printer, AND hard-wire something else if you wanted to (appletv?) - don't be so black and white. the new design is better, likely uses less power, and fits with the rest of their model line.

    Extended my network perfectly!

    • Written by from Nutley

I received my Airport Express very quickly from Apple and as soon as I plugged it in the setup was so simple! The Airport Express asked me if I wanted to extend my Airport Extreme and all I had to do was click a button and the Airport Express successfully extended my network wirelessly. The Airport Express maintained the original speed of the network when it was extended! Worth the buy money, if you need to extend your network this is the product you need!

It's like an Extreme-mini!! Super easy setup

    • Written by from Clarksville

Bought this to replace the old Airport Express from a year ago, because I wasn't getting very good reception in one corner of the house. I'm using this as an extender, and so far it's great.

Compared to the old Express, this one is

    1) Easier to set up than the old Express. The last one took me 15 minutes. With this one, the iOS Airport Utility helped me set it up in 30 seconds. I've literally spent hours setting up and fixing other brands of routers. This one is truly frustration-free!!

    2) Faster than the old Express. After placing this one where the old Express was, I noticed better range and speed in other parts of the house.

I really don't think the extra cord is that big of a deal. It's well worth the trade-off of having a faster, better router/extender. I really think this could be the primary router for a smaller house.
