    Fantastic

I upgraded a netgear n150 wireless router when airplay mirroring was lagging on it.
Setup was different from the netgear but the setup software explained everything along the way and before I knew it I had everything going wired and wireless. My ipad on the 5ghz network helped eliminate any lag with airplay mirroring and my apple tv is hardwired to the express, now when I stream my movies from icloud in HD the buffer time does not take as long compared to my old netgear. Best investment I have made to improve my network.

I plugged it in in my family room and before I could walk to my Mac, my son called out that Airport Utility had spontaneously opened on his Mac. In moments, I had clicked to add the Express to our home network, checked iTunes and saw it was already listed as a selection to play AirTunes. I can't imagine anything easier.

I bought this product to hopefully help handle over 10 of the wireless devices in my home. it does great for such a little router. It's fast, and its really really easy to set up, I actually set it up by using my iPhone. No hassle, easy and quick, I recommend this product.

    Better than best

    • Written by from Vancouver

This thing was a dream to set up. I've been using a Linksys router for years and you have to log onto the Linksys web site based on a hyperlink (192.168.1.1) with an ethernet cable from you computer, and you have to spend quite a bit of time figuring out the many screens with security and network name with passwords and and and and..... I set this thing up in about 2 minutes doing it all on my iPad. Wirelessly. Don't waste your time on another way to hook up to the internet wirelessly, and for the record it does much more than just that.

Works like a charm - Easy setup

    • Written by from BROOKLYN

I just replaced my old airport express with the new Airport express base station. My network is setup on the second with an airport extreme router and I needed an extender with a stronger signal for my room in the basement. It just felt like the old airport express wasn't giving me a strong enough signal for my Mac Pro, Blu Ray player and my ROKU Netflix box to run wirelessly. But I have to say that the new airport express gave me a very strong signal where all my wireless components run much faster and smoother.
The setup was a very easy (very important for me), requires no thinking if using it as an extender like I am. Just plug it in to the outlet and it starts running immediately, click on the wifi signal icon on the top right of the menu bar, choose the airport express and follow the screen directions, and your connected.
I see some reviews that some people liked the old design, but I don't mind it at all. It is still small enough to travel with it, no big deal. I'm very satisfied and would recommend getting it.
Thanks Apple for continuing to improve your products.

The best router I have used

    • Written by from orlando

First let me say I have used a large amount of different routers over the past 12 years. This is the first router that has never disconnected regardless if it's the MacBook Pro with the retina display, standard MacBook, Xbox 360, iPhone or iPad. My current Internet connection is 40 GB per second download 5 GB per second upload it has never dropped or lost signal while playing video games, downloading apps, etc. It does have only one RJ-45 output but everything in my house is wireless so that does not bother me at all. As for the configuration it was all automatically configured and the only configuring I did with the Apple airport express was to create a second network for guest users and set up passwords. The Apple airplay and network printer/scanner was all plug-and-play and required no configuring whatsoever. I've had this express base Station for a couple months and had zero problems with it so I highly recommend this product and I definitely give it a five out of five.

solved the problem but at a price

    • Written by from Berkeley

I had a wi-fi dead corner in my house: weak signal, dropouts... . I've tried everything. Finally Apple support suggested the airport express base station.
bought it, plugged it in - it took two minutes to install from my iPad. the dead corner now has a full signal. It's $100 but it works! Bravo!

    Quick, painless, and smooth operation

    • Written by from Augusta

I have used many routers over the years. Linksys, net gear, and even an asus I put dd-wrt on and ALL would give me problems. Random drops, lag on gaming, etc. none compare to the simplicity and speed as this one.

I have owned it for two days now and no drop outs, not to mention my Sonia not coming to me complaining abut lag on his Xbox 360. Even my "New iPad" doesn't drop the connection. I was starting to suspect I had one with the wireless issues. Not any more.

This thing has great coverage. I live in a 1500 sq ft house and I get full bars anywhere. The base station is in a central spot. I am sitting here typing this 60' away through 3 walls and it's at ful bars. Just pure perfection,

I can't express how much of an apple fan I have become and this device just adds to my appreciation of all things Apple.

    Works like magic!

    • Written by from Tacoma

I compared this with what Netgear and Belkin were offering (ballpark $80) before my purchase but finally decided on this one because of the ease-of-use of my last one, and the unobtrusive form factor - its in my living room.

I use a Linux machine for a DHCP server and planned to use this in a bridged mode to make everything else work together. This isn't a bizarre configuration, but not the most common configuration either.

So here's the cool part: I plugged it in to my network with my Macbook on the physical network, expecting to fish around a bit in 'Network Preferences' - but before any intervention was needed, the AirPort utility popped up with a picture of my new device, then asked me to name it and set the password.. it displayed something about 'checking the existing network' then configured itself in 'bridge mode' exactly as I intended to do manually. The only extra clicking I did was when I double-checked that it had just finished doing the smartest thing possible on my network.

Yesterday I bought the AirPort Express in the Apple Store in Amsterdam. I bought it to extend my wireless network. The installation was almost completely automatic! Just 2 minutes and it was ready! This is really a stunning product, both in terms of usability and design. A 5 star rating isn't even enough!

    Important Notes about Voltage

    • Written by from Ramsey

I've seen people note that this new Airport Express model does not support 120/240 volt world compatibility but this is incorrect. While the supplied power cable does note 120v only, the device itself is labeled as compliant with US and world voltage at 120 and 240 volts. My guess is that the cable itself is labeled for the US, since in other parts of the world the supplied cable would be different.

    Great Wireless Extender

    • Written by from West Des Moines

Had Airport Extreme Base Station with 2 airport expresses set up to extend wireless networks to corners of house with weak signals.

Not really totally happy with old airport express's performance so I thought I would try new new Airport Express. All I can say is wow. Positioned new express between area where the old two expresses were. Now my speed in either of the corners of the house where the old airport express's were has nearly doubled.

Best $100 I have spent for awhile. Because of form factor, also looks cool sitting on table. This new express basically replaced the two older airports and increases download speed. Whats not to like?

Highly recommend if planning on using it to extend wireless network.

Awesome job all-around on this one!!!

    • Written by from Stockton

First of all, this thing just looks fabulous; it's the exact same shape and size as the Apple TV, so it looks great by it! It matches the Airport Extreme better as well. Also, I love that it now has two ethernet ports, one to connect it to the network (if you need it) and one to connect a computer (or Apple TV, etc). I myself use it to extend my home wireless network and it works very well, it is easy to set up and very fast. AirPlay is great too, I can now easily play music on my bedroom stereo from my MBP/iPhone/iPad. Apple, great job on this one!

Easy to Install, Easy to Use

    • Written by from Vancouver

To be honest I am not an expert of networking stuff. I have used many different kinds of wireless routers. While most of them do work, they need some knowledge to setup and maintain, many times I encountered unknown disconnections and I had to restart them and prayed the problems get solved.
Then I read a lot of information on AirPort, and Apple released the new generation, so I decided to get one. It ended up to be a great decision.
The install was really easy, just like all Apple products, and the AirPort Utility app gives great visual information on the networking, and changing setup is so easy too. Also the WiFi is very stable, all wireless devices working great! I never see the connectivity limited icon again!
Plus I haven't even put good use for the AirPlay function or connecting printer yet.
In conclusion, great product! Worth the money!

    Works with Uverse

    • Written by from Collinsville

I purchased the new AE to expand my wireless area in my house and allow for greater flexibility of device locations. I have a PC with Win 7 64 and my internet comes by way of AT&T Uverse. the RG Uverse supplies operates on 802.11g and my PC is wired in. I needed to move my PC to an area where there were no ethernet outlets and at temps of 105 outside, I really did not want to be in my attic running new wires. I also had some dead spots in my master suite. This little unit works like a charm, I had to use my iPad to configure it but there really was not much to it. My only complaint would be that I have no idea how to configure it with a PC. I am writing this review on my PC that is now wireless, and my iPad, iPhones, iPods and Apple TV's are all working perfectly and I can still connect to my set top boxes with my Uverse remote app. At a $100 bucks a pop you really can't beat the ease of connection. I may get one more for my master suite just so I can place my tv where ever I so desire.

    Love Apple

    • Written by from Madison

Walked into the Apple Store with my kids, & got pointed to the Acc's wall. Grabbed the AP Base Station box, about the size of my fist. Walked to one of the 50 associates on the clock. Checked out in 24 seconds. Left.

Total time of transaction — 2 min's tops (maybe less).

Got home. Total setup time — 4 min's tops.

I could have ordered over the Web with free shipping — but I wanted to swing by the store again.

    Why? B/c it's beautiful.

    I. Love. Apple.
