Changed my life. I'm not joking.

    • Written by from Hobart

I looked at Bluetooth audio adapters for a week before I realised that Apple made something.
Now we are streaming the best underground tunes through Itunes to the old stereo and it has made a huge difference to our day to day life.
If your interested in the sound quality - don't get a bluetooth adapter. Get this.
It does not do everything I wanted it to though. If you want to maximise this unit you need the AP Extreme as well.
I wanted to extend my existing Dlink routers range. It is not possible to do this with 3rd party routers anymore (as discussed in the forums).
    Still a wicked unit though.
BTW: Quite hard to set up with a 3rd party router. You may need to download the old version of the Airport Utility to get access to the settings you need such as WEP40.

    Airport Express

    • Written by from SAN JOSE

Just purchased this yesterday to extend my wifi range for Apple TV in family room, and it WORKS LIKE A CHARM! Streamed all movies and content from internet connection through Comcast and had no stops or pauses playing them. It truly did extend my signal further out to the other end of the house, thank you Apple!

The best wifi router I have ever had.

    • Written by from Mississauga

The difference that this little gem of a product has made in my home network cannot be overstated. ISPs are pushing out modem/router combos a lot these days, and it comes at the expense of performance for the consumer. After frustration with wifi slowdowns I decided to purchase the Express and use it in "bridge mode" with my Bell Modem/Router. It now is my sole source of wifi and the performance difference is incredible. Not only does it provide a solid signal over a broader range, the actual transmit rate equals the speed I get if I were to use an ethernet cable. Apple brought wifi networking to a laptop first, as well as the 802.11 standard for the consumer into the home with the original base station. Simply put, they know how networking should be. This is the best performing product in this category. If you have a modem/router combo from your ISP, you need to bring this little guy into your home so that you can consistently get the speed you pay a hefty price for every month. I wish I bought one sooner. I love my "White Apple TV" and I am never using another router again. The fact you can access set up and monitoring with the free iPhone/iPad app is a wonderful bonus.

    Awesome product

I was using a Netgear router and my housemate's 2.4GHz phone was cutting me off the internet constantly. I picked up this little gem of a router and the problem has been solved. I'm using it with a Macbook Pro. My roommate uses an old pc laptop so she still gets booted off the internet when she uses the phone since her laptop doesn't have 5GHz receptivity.

The signal from this router is stronger than the Netgear one, with a much smaller and more elegant footprint no less. We both get strong signal throughout our 2 bedroom apartment. Great product Apple!

Works like a charm - Easy setup

    • Written by from BROOKLYN

I just replaced my old airport express with the new Airport express base station. My network is setup on the second with an airport extreme router and I needed an extender with a stronger signal for my room in the basement. It just felt like the old airport express wasn't giving me a strong enough signal for my Mac Pro, Blu Ray player and my ROKU Netflix box to run wirelessly. But I have to say that the new airport express gave me a very strong signal where all my wireless components run much faster and smoother.
The setup was a very easy (very important for me), requires no thinking if using it as an extender like I am. Just plug it in to the outlet and it starts running immediately, click on the wifi signal icon on the top right of the menu bar, choose the airport express and follow the screen directions, and your connected.
I see some reviews that some people liked the old design, but I don't mind it at all. It is still small enough to travel with it, no big deal. I'm very satisfied and would recommend getting it.
Thanks Apple for continuing to improve your products.

    It just works

    • Written by from Athens

Like everything Apple, it just works. Plugged it in, used my iPad to run setup, and had all devices running on it in a matter of minutes. So glad to get rid of my old Netgear. Easy to configure using Airport Utility on my iMac or iOS devices. Looks great too! Nice addition to my entertainment center along with my Apple TV. My internal network has never been so fast. Worth every penny. It only makes sense to trust my home network (that consists of 6 Apple products) to an Apple device. Count not be happier.

I plugged it in in my family room and before I could walk to my Mac, my son called out that Airport Utility had spontaneously opened on his Mac. In moments, I had clicked to add the Express to our home network, checked iTunes and saw it was already listed as a selection to play AirTunes. I can't imagine anything easier.

    Huge Improvement

    • Written by from Saratoga

This week I upgraded from the "wall wort" version. I get a much stronger signal much further away.
I use the Express as a bridge/extender from a time capsule that I also use as a router.
The connection process was much easier also.
    Highly recommended.

    Works Great in 5G mode

    • Written by from Sacramento

I had bought and returned three wireless routers from best buy until I finally talked to geek squad and they recommended the Apple airport express or extreme. I now have no problems with new iPad mini or my iPad second gen loosing connection while on the 5 gh connection. A Belkin and two different net gears would keep kicking me off. Thanks geek squad and apple.

Easy to Install, Easy to Use

    • Written by from Vancouver

To be honest I am not an expert of networking stuff. I have used many different kinds of wireless routers. While most of them do work, they need some knowledge to setup and maintain, many times I encountered unknown disconnections and I had to restart them and prayed the problems get solved.
Then I read a lot of information on AirPort, and Apple released the new generation, so I decided to get one. It ended up to be a great decision.
The install was really easy, just like all Apple products, and the AirPort Utility app gives great visual information on the networking, and changing setup is so easy too. Also the WiFi is very stable, all wireless devices working great! I never see the connectivity limited icon again!
Plus I haven't even put good use for the AirPlay function or connecting printer yet.
In conclusion, great product! Worth the money!

    Magic!

    • Written by from HADDONFIELD

I have a pretty complex home network, with an Extreme Base Station and two previous-generation Expresses that extend the wireless network. I got this Express to extend it even further, plugged it in, and before I had a chance to open up the Airport Utility and change all sorts of settings, the utility opened up, assumed I wanted to extend the network again (!!), and the default settings it offered made sense. I know that this is largely due to the new Airport Utility, but magic is still magic. Range is very good, power consumption is minimal. Great gizmo.

    MARVELOUS!

This is better than the last AP Express. Great for extending my coverage over such a wide floor plan in my one story house. Also the usb port & Ethernet is great for external hard drives or shared NAS. Now I have end to end wifi coverage plus with the guest network! Great Job as always Mr. Jobs. GOD Bless You!

Great Product and some help with setup

    • Written by from West Palm Beach

This is a wonderful product. As to the one star reviews I encountered a similar problem where it keeps asking for the password but there is a simple solution for most I think. If you are using it to extend the range on your existing extreme router for example, when you get to the part where it wants the password to connect it. It doesn't want the password you would normally use to connect a device to your wireless. It wants the password for the main router itself that you setup the day you put it in. Once you know this and enter that password problem solved. Hope it helps someone.

If it doesn't work perfectly just exchange it

    • Written by from Encino

Please don't be discouraged by the one star reviews stating this unit doesn't work. It should work perfectly, and if it doesn't, just exchange it: I purchased this unit for my daughter to extend the range of our wireless network (served by an older Airport Express) to her room and allow her to stream music. I know one should be able to plug the unit in, set it up in under 15 minutes, and have it to work flawlessly for years. However, setting this unit up failed several times requiring hard resets. Once finally set up, every device in my house could connect to this unit except my daughter's iPhone 4S running iOS 6. A call to AppleCare determined that the unit was indeed faulty, and the Apple store cheerfully exchanged it for another. The second unit was a breeze to set up, and has been working perfectly in every way, as it should.

    Works with Uverse

    • Written by from Collinsville

I purchased the new AE to expand my wireless area in my house and allow for greater flexibility of device locations. I have a PC with Win 7 64 and my internet comes by way of AT&T Uverse. the RG Uverse supplies operates on 802.11g and my PC is wired in. I needed to move my PC to an area where there were no ethernet outlets and at temps of 105 outside, I really did not want to be in my attic running new wires. I also had some dead spots in my master suite. This little unit works like a charm, I had to use my iPad to configure it but there really was not much to it. My only complaint would be that I have no idea how to configure it with a PC. I am writing this review on my PC that is now wireless, and my iPad, iPhones, iPods and Apple TV's are all working perfectly and I can still connect to my set top boxes with my Uverse remote app. At a $100 bucks a pop you really can't beat the ease of connection. I may get one more for my master suite just so I can place my tv where ever I so desire.
