    Finally!!

    • Written by from Orlando

I just got a mac mini and started having issues with my Linksys router. I purchased a D- Link and their customer service was not able to connect it to my mac. Finally Apple suggested I get the Airport Express and it works amazing!! I no longer get the error "another pc is using your same ip address". Also I have a 2 story 1400 sqft house. I have it connected on the second floor and the reception is better than the other routers I had. I get full bar reception on my iphone and ipad all over the house with no issues. If you are worried about getting this one verses the extreme, just purchase this one and try it out. You may not need the more expensive one. I was told by apple support that this new one has much better reception than the old one. I am so happy and always willing to pay a little extra for apple products when they are so simple to use. I am very happy with this.

    Freaking Awesome.

The wifi is seriously as fast as being hardwired (we have Xfinity with 15/5). It is important to note the following which is why I'm so impressed:

Our house was built in the 1930's so it's made of brick and sheet rock. Our cable modem is on the outside of all this in my room which is an enclosed porch. I do not want to mess with hardwire-ing all the computers in the house and the majority of devices using the network are smartphone and tablets anyhow. I was using the Linksys Wireless N-Range Extender but this comes nowhere close to this product!!!

    Works but tempermental during setup

    • Written by from West Dundee

If you do not think, plug the unit in, install the app, auto config, it works great. If you think about it, look at any settings other than what it wants to use you get no where fast.
    Saying that...
I have gone through to many Linksys products, more than I can count. They work well at the beginning, about a year and then you get to reset the units daily. So far I have not had any issues with the AE and would recommend this to anyone who does not want to think.
I have used this unit in Japan as well, worked great on most networks... if you auto configure.
If it last 2 years I would buy again... stay tuned.

Apple Express + Motorola SURFboard 6121

    • Written by from DuPont

It's perfect. I have a 1900 square foot home, two floors, and no problems. My Airport express is on the second floor and plenty of wifi coverage across the entire home. I have cable internet so instead of renting from the ISP's, I just bought my own equipment (Motorola SURFboard6121). In combination with my Airport express, it was very easy to set up. I called my ISP first to set up my modem. Do not set things up on your own. Call your ISP. They will be needing your MAC i.d. from your modem to get the process started. Once that was squared away I called Apple and double checked my set up was correct. I'm very excited about my network. I have two iPhone 5's , an iPod 4, iPad 2, MacBook PRO, PS3 and a Wii. Even with all of this equipment, I have no problem obtaining fast internet speed. Thank you Macintosh.

Great Product and some help with setup

    • Written by from West Palm Beach

This is a wonderful product. As to the one star reviews I encountered a similar problem where it keeps asking for the password but there is a simple solution for most I think. If you are using it to extend the range on your existing extreme router for example, when you get to the part where it wants the password to connect it. It doesn't want the password you would normally use to connect a device to your wireless. It wants the password for the main router itself that you setup the day you put it in. Once you know this and enter that password problem solved. Hope it helps someone.

    Better Than Ever!

    • Written by from Seattle

Just purchased a new, Airport Express, and set it up with my existing Airport Extreme. I've been using Airport Expresses for years now, and the setup process was so simple, and quick, I really am surprised! It works great, and we now have solid reception, every in the house.

This is the best Express, yet, and am so glad I added it to our home network.

I was getting horrible internet in my apartment complex and decided to give this a try. Got this all set up and BAM! I've never been happier. Set up was a little tricky, but all that took was a call to customer service and they helped me. I would definitely recommend this!

    Works Great in 5G mode

    • Written by from Sacramento

I had bought and returned three wireless routers from best buy until I finally talked to geek squad and they recommended the Apple airport express or extreme. I now have no problems with new iPad mini or my iPad second gen loosing connection while on the 5 gh connection. A Belkin and two different net gears would keep kicking me off. Thanks geek squad and apple.

    Life Changing

    • Written by from Peterborough

Ive had this router for six months now and it is flawless. Unlike previous third party routers that constantly crash and need to be power cycled - Ive never once needed to restart this Express and my connection on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone is consistent and never drops. Yes, its pricey, but you get what you pay for. Wireless speakers and printing are just icing on the cake.

If it doesn't work perfectly just exchange it

    • Written by from Encino

Please don't be discouraged by the one star reviews stating this unit doesn't work. It should work perfectly, and if it doesn't, just exchange it: I purchased this unit for my daughter to extend the range of our wireless network (served by an older Airport Express) to her room and allow her to stream music. I know one should be able to plug the unit in, set it up in under 15 minutes, and have it to work flawlessly for years. However, setting this unit up failed several times requiring hard resets. Once finally set up, every device in my house could connect to this unit except my daughter's iPhone 4S running iOS 6. A call to AppleCare determined that the unit was indeed faulty, and the Apple store cheerfully exchanged it for another. The second unit was a breeze to set up, and has been working perfectly in every way, as it should.

    Flawless and easy set up

    • Written by from South Orange

Bought an AP Express to extend my network from an Extreme Base Station since I am in a ranch type house and the reach of the network on one side the house would leave speed and connectivity some room for improvements.

Very happy, received, connected in a snap, and Voila! The connection is that side of the house is now super fast (FIOS) and no regret, this thing work marvels!

    Ethernet Network Extender

    • Written by from Worthington

I got this since wireless coverage is poor in the master bedroom of our house - just too far away from the Time Capsule. I had run ethernet years ago but plugging computers in is such a pain I always just dealt with the slow speed. Then, I saw this device.

I initially plugged it into wall power and used my iPhone to set it up as a wireless repeater - easy set up worked like a charm. Then, I got to thinking that I could use the ethernet to use this to extend my wireless network via the ethernet - much faster.

I read an extensive post here on how to do that and tried to follow that but it did not work - looks like that was written prior to the most recent updates. I reset the unit, plugged the ethernet from the Time Capsule into the WAN port (sun symbol) and fired up Airport Utility on my MacBook Pro. It figured out just what I was doing and set everything up for me. Now - fast wireless speed all through the house. Well worth the cost (especially as I had a gift certificate from a nice relative!)

    Everyman's WiFi Network

    • Written by from Fort Worth

I bought the Airport Express Base Station to replace two older AEs, one extending my network on the 2.4 GHz band and the other extending the network on the 5 GHz band. I plugged the new AE base station in and launched Airport Utility 6.1. Airport Utility detected my existing network and in seconds had configured the new base station to extend my network both the 2.4 and 5 GHz. The only action I had to take was to click the button to update the AE. It could not possibly have been easier. Even the greenest novice should be able to set up a relatively sophisticated wireless network with this combination.

    Works great!

    • Written by from Altadena

Got this to stream music to an old speaker system. It works great. Set up took less than a min, plus it extends the range of our wireless network.

Would only get this if you are looking to expand your network, not if you wanted to use it as your main router. Get the Airport Extreme for that.
