    Worked well but ............

    • Written by from Osler

It worked well but only lasted 1 year before it packed it in. No one could get it working again so I started using my 4 year old express.

Useful in CONCRETE & STEEL building!!

    • Written by from Ottawa

Awesome product. I have two of these bouncing the signal to the furthest recesses of my house. I live in a 3000+ sq. ft. concrete house with steel paned concrete slabs, rebar in concrete and OWS joists between floors. Main router is in my basement and I have two of these boxes (on each of the two floors above). Works fantastically well. Noteworthy: my version is the older one (one box is 3 years old and the other is 2), this newer version must be better. p.s. - I don't work for Apple : )

Airport express keeps disconnecting from the wireless router

    • Written by from SAHUARITA

When this thing works it is awesome! However it doesn't work the way I want it to for very long before it disconnects from the network. I have it wirelessly connected to my internet for the sole purpose of playing music via the airplay feature. The problem is I have to pull the power plug and then reconnect it to get it to recognize the wireless signal and allow for airplay. However, this only lasts for an hour or so (on a good day) before it randomly disconnects itself from the network and I have to go pull the plug and restart it. I have read many other people that have had this problems as well. I went with apple for their renowned "user friendly" hardware. Unfortunately this product is not user friendly and does not work well and I would not recommend anyone using this as a medium for airplay as I have spent many hours resetting it and messing with it.

    Great for Extending

    • Written by from San Angelo

I live in a large house and had poor wifi reception on one end. I bought the Apple Express router and set it up in my kitchen which is halfway between the router and the other end of my house. Setup was very easy with my iPad. It went ahead and gave me the option to extend my wireless network from a Time Machine router I have in my living room. Now I can receive excellent service in the troubled area. Great fix for the price!

    eh... it's inconsistent

    • Written by from Santa Fe

I have a family of 5 most of the time. 2 adults, 3 kids. Currenlty, we host two exchange students - one from China and one from Spain so right now - we have 7 in the house. Both of them expect good wifi - and justifiably so. When we had 5 - the airport was above average... very little problems, worked well, but occasionally if all of us were doing something (my wife is a digital marketer and I work in school admin) - and my kids are on thier ipods or phones, the thing crashes. Everybody loses a signal, we unplug, plug back in - it goes amber to green, and then we're back on. As users go to sleep, the signal stays. If everybody is on... it's wets the bed. It's OK most of the time, but getting off the back porch (dang I sound like a lazy SOB) to go fix the wifi 6-7 times a night gets old. You start wonder, "is this the way it is or can i get a better device?"

Great looking device at good price ;)

    • Written by from Burbank

I was looking for better router in good price, needed better range in the kitchen area, and that's what I got, from 10 Mbps to up to 30 Mbps, Internet is very fast. But there is one problem with this router, it keeps disconnecting every couple minutes for at least a second. It was working great first 2 days, that's the part I'm disappointed. The old router net gear worked 2 years and not a single restart ($25). I'm give it 4 star and see how this router will do in couple months.

    Excellent Update

    • Written by from Duncan

I recently bought the latest AirPort Express, to replace my first generation AE which had been cutting my wi-fi connection in and out too frequently. I couldn't be happier with the new device. There has been NO loss of signal since I set it up last week. Not just that, but it's producing faster loading results.

Best purchase I've made in a long while.

Signal extension plus airplay to my old receiver

    • Written by from Chandler

Added one of these in our guest house in order to improve signal strength. That worked great. Then I found I could add a cable and connect to an optical port on my old Denon. Now I am driving some vintage speakers with airplay off my phone or I-pad. I expect that guests will love being able to play their music through that system.

I bought this at my university bookstore to replace my Linksys E900....its great and stable and all my devices connect flawlessly...everything from my Mac, Ipads, Iphones, android devices, along with all my PCs connect with no issues, and no dropping of signal or freezing of network...its fast enough for everything I do, and my internet throughput increased to my maximum upload and download speed for my ISP...

I've had this for about a year and it's never really worked right. Seems to drop constantly, unable to extend my network, just isn't stable. Very disappointing.

    fast and consistent speeds

    • Written by from Riverside

I purchased the airport extreme to increase the wifi range and consistency of my home network. i live in a 1000 sq ft apartment and my $40 netgear router wasn't doing the job. purchased the airport extreme thinking i would back up my macbook over wifi, but found the speeds to be inconsistent and comparable to what i was getting with the $40 netgear router. returned the extreme and picked up the express. i am so happy i did. i get my advertised cable speeds at 30 Mbps consistently throughout the day. well worth the money and recommend to anyone who is considering upgrading router.

    Love It

    • Written by from Browns Mills

The AirPort Express works as advertised. It is super fast and set-up for 4 computers, an Apple TV, iPad, and 2 iPhones took less than ten minutes. The unit comes in a very small form factor; matching the size of the Apple TV. If you want an easy to configure wireless router I would definitely suggest paying the extra few dollars for this unit.

    Good product

    • Written by from Pensacola

I've been using an Airport Express for over six months and it's fast, reliable and works well with other Apple products like Wake on Demand and can be used to Airplay audio.

The size and shape is almost the same as a 2nd or 3rd gen. Apple TV. The price is a little high, but they can be found online a little cheaper than on Apple's site.

    Does not work as advertised

    • Written by from St-Sauveur

This was sold as a network extender with a promise in store that it does not matter what type of network you have. This is not true. It would not work with my Cisco network and Apple product support admitted that it does not work with any network other than apple networks (apparently the representatives I spoke to get between 2 and 4 calls a day about this so it is a major problem). I have not tried it with an apple network, but based on previous promises I would not waste my money buying one to find out. Of course in order to find out it doesn't work you have to open the package, so guess what - no refund. Am not impressed with after sales service for this product and since it is our first time needing after sales support it really makes us ponder any further purchases from apple.

    supports PPPOE

    • Written by from Moses Lake

I used this in conjunction with a Netgear DSL modem/router combo. I configured the Netgear to run in modem only. I was happy to discover that the Airport Express could handle all the other chores, like negotiating the PPPOE connection, DHCP, NAT, and everything else. On top of all that, it was incredibly easy to configure.

only lasted 14 months, guarantee is 12 months

    • Written by from raheny

i bought this in july 2012 and it stopped working last week in september 2013. that's 14 months. the guarantee is 12 months. I expected more from an apple product.

we were an exclusively apple house with ipod, ipads, apple tv, airport express, macbook pro etc. We are disappointed with apple's refusal to accept that 14 months is not an acceptable life span for a product with no moving parts.

as a premium product it should have a three year guarantee.

    Airport express is amazing

    • Written by from Cudahy

I bought this router because my current Dlink dir-615 that I've had for about 3 years now was giving me issues. I would have to turn it on and off about once a week and my Internet connection would drop on my iPad but would work fine with my other apple devices. At first I was struggling to install it because I would get a message saying there was a DNS error so I did my homework and found out that when it comes to hardware devices the best thing to do is to shut down the power of previous router, airport express and MacBook Pro for about ten minutes and then power all the devices back on. Airport express works extremely great and I also noticed speed enhancement. Very satisfied with this product :)

    Problem solver

    • Written by from simpsonville

Replaced a 2 year old netgear n600 with this router and aside from having to update the firmware this thing has been a dream. Speedtest increased by 6mbps and no more connectivity issues. Connected to a charter cable modem this thing makes the best wifi network I've ever had.. Wifi kept dropping randomly And had no idea why, I live in a subdivision and the best I can guess there were interference issues with my old router but as soon as I got this one rolling and updated all is well. Aside from having to install airport utility app on my ipad from jump this thing has taken care of all of my problems. On top of that these things are easily chained to eliminate dead spots around your house.. I will be getting another one to put upstairs to strengthen my signal soon... It's also tiny so it takes up less than 50% of the space my old one did and it runs nice and cool so ventilation isn't an issue. Thanks again apple!

Good for a while, now flaky

    • Written by from Moose Jaw

I bought this about a year ago, it actually worked great for 6-8 months, I used it to extend my network (have a Time Capsule). Ever since that point it's been flaky, sometimes it stops working for no reason, sometimes it has a green light but no one can connect, etc. In the end I've just unplugged it and stopped using it. I can still pick up the TC wireless signal at that end of the house but it's not as strong.

I would absolutely not recommend you buy this product, it won't last. I do like, however, the compact size and the easy setup, how it easily integrates into my iHouse. We've got two iMacs, an iPad, 2 iPhones, 3 iPod touches, a Time Capsule and an Apple TV so I've got the Apple products but this is the one I wouldn't buy again.
